Join us as we learn history, look at old buildings, drink beer and eat food, all the things that I did last time I went to actual Germany! It is always fun to be reminded what an amazing variety of cultures we have in the USA. Welcome to madventure, we're MADison and iVEN (okay it is spelled Ivan, but pronounced like VENture) a husband and wife living the adventure we have been dreaming of, despite the fact that it makes us sound completely mad. For us that looks like traveling full time and starting our own businesses.
For Madison, a former reality TV producer, the dream is the madventure community, connecting people through travel, experiencing new cultures, and trying the best foods from carts, stands and restaurants all over the world. She hopes to encourage others to follow their maddest most adventurous dreams, whatever they may be!
For Ivan, a former NASA engineer, it is creating an engineering product that will change the world!
Travel and food are two of our biggest passions, so on this channel we will be traveling the world, and staying awhile to experience what life is actually like living other places. We're excited to have you on board for the delicious, culture filled, madventurous times that will ensue! Let's madventure! xoxo
Hello from Bavaria. It's amazing to see our culture and traditions in the beautiful Texas, USA! :)
It really is! I'm so glad you enjoyed. It can't beat Bavaria though, we are excited to travel back there once everything settles!!!
well the city was founded by German immigrants in 1846 and named after Prince Friedrich of Prussia
@@letsmadventure But Bavaria is not Germany, it is Bavaria 😉😂
Greetings from Germany 🙋♂️
🙋♀️ Hello! Thank you so much for watching all the way from Germany! Hoping to make it out that way once we start traveling internationally again!!!
Hello from North-Rhine-Westphalia, Fredericksburg seems to be more german than our cities in Germany 😉😇
There is a saying that they do everything "bigger in Texas" maybe that includes Germanness too 😂
I grew up in Fredericksburg. My parents and brother still live there and I love going back to visit. I hope to move back there, I loved living there. It’s definetly grown more since my childhood
That's awesome! I totally know what you mean, I grew up in a smaller town near Houston and it is unrecognizable now!
A 15 minute film of people eating!
Where is something about the town?!
Thanks for the feedback! We’ve been trying to be more balanced in recent videos. We’d love your feedback on those.
Anytime you buy jerky in Texas, take a look a the label and make sure it’s made in Texas. Almost bought some jerky that was made in Oklahoma. Lots of people are fleeing CA to TX so let’s not turn TX into a CA. Love my state of TX!
Thanks for the tip! I will! I'm a Texan born and raised, but had lived in LA for 7 years for work! This was when we were moving back, or at least moving our stuff and permanent residence back haha, we've been traveling full-time making videos for the past few years :)
Fredericksburg a good place to go for some German culture and a city home to a navy admiral who fought in ww2 in the pacific
I've heard that, I'm hoping next time we go, we'll have time to visit the museum! :)
@@letsmadventure it also has a war reenactment where people who like to reenact can volunteer cause reenactment isnt just a hobby its a good way to teach history
Ah yes. Lederhosen, Bier and Sauerkraut. Its like you're visiting some theme park version of Germans. But I guess thats what americans always do. Butchering out cultures to compensate that they have no culture on their own and creating stereotypes out of their ancestors.
Mexicans? Tequila, burritos and pinatas! French? Liberté, wine and croissants! This is some Jim Crow stuff paired with whisper on the lane.
I didn't see it, but if you get the chance to go back, check out the Nimitz Museum. It's also worth a drive down the 290 to see some of the wineries and breweries on the way to stonewall. While you're over there, check out the LBJ ranch too. If you get the chance to come back, try to come about 2 weeks later then the post date of this video. Every third weekend in June is the Peach Jamboree, which has a cool little festival inside of Stonewall, among other things. If you haven't tried the peaches from the area, you'll never want to buy store bought peaches ever again. Amusing though, because I was there just 2 weeks after this video was posted!
Thank you so much for the recommendations! That Peach Jamboree sounds incredible!!! We didn't have much time there, but now we definitely need to go back to try these things!
They don't make the poppy seed danish anymore 😢
😭
Cheers from Bavaria 🙂🍻
Prost!!! 🍻 Wishing we were in Bavaria!
My husband is from Lauffen Germany. I’m from Texas. we’re going to Fredericksburg next week.
That’s awesome! Have fun!!! 😃
Most of the things we ate here are Bavarian? How interesting, most of the immigrants who settled this town were from Lower Saxony, but I suppose as the town grew Germans from all states (including Bavaria) must have moved in as well and influenced the food and culture. My great grandparents were from Lower Saxony and Hesse, so while I am an American, I do know that there is more to Germany than just Bavaria 😉.
2024 Happy Octokfest, I Love German Style Beer.
Many nationals in America..😆😆😆😆😆
It is one of the things I love most about America is how diverse the people and food are 😁
i see you guys in Solvang town, right?
Yes, that was us! 😁
So fun! I love the drone footage. Did you get to ride in that pink limo I spotted? 😉
It was!!! Thanks, we love flying that little guy :) . We thought about it, but decided the pink limo wasn't very German for our video hahaha
Visited Fredericksburg back in early 2000s. I felt like I died and woke up in Germanic Heaven!
Right!? And a whole lot cheaper than an international flight! :)
@@letsmadventure . Jawohl to dat!
No way, we don't have any wooden houses
My family is American of German descent. Had family living at Blanco, about 40 miles away, for many years. We call it “Fritz town.” But it’s not as German as it used to be, since it’s been “discovered” by the straw hat and sun dress crowd from Austin and San Antonio.
That is so cool! Good to know, I can definitely see that haha. I was expecting it to be a little more "German" than I found it, I guess I was just a little too late.
Ahh ein Apfelstrudel!
It was soooo tasty!!!
I love to hear that, it truly is such a beautiful place! Thanks so much for you kind comment! 🤍
Come to Germany in your Holidays . Youre Welcome . Andy from Frankfurt Germany .
Haha thanks Andy! You're definitely right! I loved Germany when I went, and Ivan has never been! I'd love to take him someday soon!
I'm in the navy right now serving on the Nimitz in Bremerton.
That is so cool! What a small world. Thank you for your service ❤️🤍💙
Great video and love your insight!
Thank you so much!!!
Was hoping to see more of the town and less of watching them eat.
We did include the word "Taste" in the title for a reason 😂
I learned so much watching this vlog!
I'm so glad! Thank you Mary!
Your sandals are also very German.😁 Like Birkenstocks
Omg thanks for pointing it out! They ARE Birkenstocks! How perfect for this video! 😆
@@letsmadventure What a coincidence.😁
That Krump looks soooo delicious @
It truly is!!! 😋
over the long time the recepts change^^
Like what?
I enjoyed all of y'all trip
Thank you so much!!!
PuddingPlätzchen🥰
Is that what the "crump" is called!?! I looked everywhere to find the correct name. Thank you so much!!!
@@letsmadventure at leas in my Region .😊
@@letsmadventure it'll be more Pudding Taler (Taler) like a piece of hard money Nickle Nickel i don't know how to write it.😊
@@letsmadventure In my area (where the founders of Fredericksburg and New Braunfels came from) it's called "Puddingstreusel". Streusel means crumble. So it's the basic recepie of crumble cake (Streuselkuchen) in a mini version, cut and filled with vanilla pudding.
It's a classic in every bakery.
Looks like a place black people can’t go.
Can't speak to the experience of being a black person here, but we felt comfortable as an interracial couple and a brown man. The crowd there was diverse when we went.
My family and I travel there very often and it has always been a great experience.
I believe you’ll find more racism in places up further north than you’ll ever find in Texas. I say that as someone from up north.
I dont know how it is in Fredericksburg or in the US! But black people are welcome in Germany! You arent welcome if you are an asshole!
immer diese Rassenkeule🙈
I am German, but I never heard of any of those recipes (except Apple Strudel), nor those strange products in the supermarket!!! :D BTW: You forgot to mention traditional and healthy German Sauerkraut!
How interesting, good to know! I wonder if some of these recipes adapted when the Germans immigrated to the US and found totally different ingredients available or something. You’re right, I definitely should have mentioned the sauerkraut! We ate it with almost every meal when we were in Germany.
Went to a restaurant had a delicious schnitzel with.. get ready... Jalapeno cream gravy lol it was great tho
