    It's not as good as I remember. The corals are definitely not as vivid or colourful as they were in the 1970s and 80s. Before the advent of coral bleaching. I had no idea the damage to the reef since those times when I was a young scuba diver. Very sad indeed. 😢

    Please next time no matter what country you try something in, get a local to show you how. Personally i'd only eat that much vegemite if i was having cheese on it too. Most people only put little scratchings of it on the toast, also the toast has to be piping hot and then you put a good serve of butter on it and then when that's melted you scratch some vegemite on it.

  • @DaveOz-mx5oh
    @DaveOz-mx5oh 6 дней назад

    too much Vegemite on toast is akin to too much salt on french fries. Its really good, but you need to find that balance, which for most people is a very thin spread

    VEGEMITE ON TOAST= Cook 2 pieces of toast per person , **set toast to medium for best results Take each slice of toast and butter 80% of surface , generous spread ,not heavy Take a table knife , collect equivalent to a finger tip of Vegemite onto knife Dab in centre of your toast Aggressively spread the Vegemite like a thin mist outwards t I wards the edges The Vegemite should be light covering NOT DARK. If you use the Vegemite as a shallow spread and not as a paint, you will discover perfect balance Toast butter Vegemite, have it along with a strong hot cuppa,or tall glass of orange juice

    Vegemite on undercooked toast with no butter? Please make sure the toast is brown, there is a generous amount of butter (yes bread without butter is a bit strange here) and then a small amount of Vegemite - literally for Vegemite virgins no more than a pea sized amount and then spread around the toast. Avo toast with Vegemite is amazing.

    Vegemite is eaten to taste. You put about 1000% more than needed. You use butter then spread the vegemite very thin from hardly being able to see it and then work your way up for how you like the taste. On bread I make it see through but can also eat a spoon full out of the jar. Near 60 years and never had vegemite on toast. YUK.

    Oh my gosh, I thought you spread that much Vegemite on as a joke. You NEVER eat that much! That would be like taking a large glass shot of soy sauce. 😲 Toast the bread, spread plenty of butter and a 1/4 or less of what you took.

    Moreton Bay bug is native to the waters around the northern parts of Australia. There's a similar crustacean called the Balmain bug which is also really available in restaurants. And in Western Australia, the crustacean of choice is marron, a large freshwater crayfish. In inland rivers and dams, there are yabbies (another fresh water crayfish). All worth trying if you like shellfish.

  • @Divadosaurus

    Yes, I'm going to talk about the Vegemite. Vegemite is an umami flavouring for fat (butter/margarine). It's not Nutella. There's a ratio of bread/toast, fat and Vegemite that needs to be respected. Consider soy sauce, an analogue in terms of umami and salt content. You don't have sushi floating around in a soup of soy , but rather you have a hint of soy, otherwise it becomes a horrible, salty mess.

  • @Merrid67play
    @Merrid67play 8 дней назад

    That was an awful lot of Vegemite for not nearly enough butter. And yes, there are other "recipes" - as you noted, it's an umami flavour and can be added to soups and stews for richness just like a stock cube (what you call a bouillon cube). And Bourke is pronounced "berk" as in "her", not "bork" as in Swedish chef. But at least you picked a good bakery - they're known for their excellent breads and pastries.

    A note of warning to prospective American tourists: A glass of beer, called a 'schooner' (15 fl oz) in the sensible parts of Oz, will set you back about US$10 in Sydney. You will need to mortgage your home to afford a packet of cigarettes (seriously though, abt. US$30 a pack). And forget about vaping as it's now illegal without a doctor's prescription. It's easier and cheaper to buy illegal hard drugs. All this with twenty plus years of bi-partisan political support.
