Just ran across you videos on you tube. Excellent. I usually watch these videos and find things wrong the mechanic is doing, but you know your stuff and very attention to detail. One question I have is you use of the Loctite high tack gasket sealant. I need to replace my thermostat housing on my 01 VW GTI VR6, because it is leaking. It has a O ring like the engine in the video. Seems to be a common problem, and just wanted your feedback on how good the Loctite works. I was thinking about about about using a gasket sealant I use early in my aviation maintenance experience, 20 years ago, but forgot the name of the stuff.
i love lock tight... it works good, never dies up and stay tacky.... the only thing you should be worried about is replace the whole housing and crack pipe at the same time and make sure to use original parts in there...
Thanks, I already bought the original housing, but bought a aftermarket aluminum crack pipe. Any experience with the aluminum crack pipes, I have read the plastic ones were kind of a weak link. I just finished your video on sludge build up on the 1.8 liter. Great job and like your out of the box thinking.
Hi I have a 2009 Audi Q5 3.2 Quattro and I need to replace the secondary air injection box and need to know if I need to pull out the engine to do the job bcuz I took it to a Mecanic and I was told that the engine needed to be pulled out to do this job is that true please let me know I will appreciate it
Good job. I have a oil leak on top of the engine. Just next to the thermostat there is a fair bit of oil. On your video there is probably petrol, but I havn't took anything apart and I have oil in there. Where it might come from? There is no oil lines close by. Thanks
see that big black square thing above the thermostat, that is called a (pcv) crankcase vent valve oil separator. try that, I'm in the process of changing mine.
if I wanted to just replace the thermostat, could I just skip removing the fuel rails and etc? Also, while replacing the thermostat, what else would you recommend that needs to be replaced/cleaned?
I'm hoping you can help me with my DIY effort. I have a 2006 Audi A6 3.2L. It is running rough. I have cleaned the Throttle Body, replaced the Spark Plugs but it continues to run rough, making tu-tu-tu sound, shaking, vibrating and revving up. It appears the EGR needs cleaning or replacing but I AM HAVING TROUBLE LOCATING THE EGR VALVE. I appreciate you.

+Lynx Star Automotive (Gabe V) Thanks it is exactly what i did i ordered a set of upper and lower intake gasket and injector seals from ecs tuning since where i live in canada everyone only wanted to sell me the injector repair kit for 35$ instead of just the seal for 2$
I heard these cars have bad timing chains. Is it possible to replace those without removing the engine completely? Thinking about getting one from a dealership but I want to make sure I'm not dropping an extra 6 grand for repairs
Great video! One question, Why, when replacing the t-stat involves that much work, would you not replace that short hose also? Couldn't be a $10 OEM part even at the OEM ripoff price. I know I would have just for cheap insurance and peace of mind. You do good work. Is the carbon buildup design flaw of DI engines a fatal one for all these new style engines? You can pay for a LOT of extra fuel for what the cleanup costs are every 60,000 miles or so. Thanks
Thanks for making this video. Did you have to do anything special to purge the air out of the fuel lines? Or is it not an issue with the high fuel rail pressure?
Thanks for the video. Will be doing the exact same thing pretty soon. I did notice you did not clean anything on the actual intake runners. I have heard carbon build up can cause the flappers to potentially stick? Just curious why you never mentioned anything about those.
Simple, I have never seen build up on intake manifolds more than around 1/16, it is plastic and chemicals may damage it and if you scrape it, you may push the buildup into moving parts and cause problems... Also it will never get stuck if the flaps are working.... only way for them to get stuck is if they don’t move for a long time...
another great job ! any reason why my 2005 a6 3.2l while driving @ 40 mph the rpm's move up and down but goes away after a few minutes, thanx for any ideas.

Excelent instruccional video!! I need to clean my intakes on my audi a6, i can follow your explanations cause your great mechanic.. thanks a million.
Very good vid. Dont stop
Thanks for the Video, helps a lot. You are the best
I’m just replacing my thermostat not doing a carbon clean, do I have to remove the fuel lines in order to remove the thermostat?
Awesome video. What is the easiest way to get access to the o2 sensor bank1 sensor1? I need to replace mines but I can’t access to it easy. It’s a 2008 A6 s-line Quattro
We have a video on o2 sensors
I saw it but I was wondering if you have any idea of a easier way to access bank1 o2 1
do you think that if you use steam in the intake maybe once a month that might help keep them clean? maybe use a steam cleaner and a disconnected vacuum hose while the engine is at high rpm
+nicholas elias its not going to work. i have tried steam cleaning with intake off... very little results..... almost none.
Fantastic video! What did you use to suck to cleaner out of intakes? I see a hose but what is it attached to? Also how many miles until you see carbon buildup like you show?
How much HP do you think this obtains. Im working on an 09 A5 3.2L. Automatic AWD. Can you give some advice on stage ll cams or similar? With corresponding valve springs.. Until I vman able to get my client to upgrade the pistons and rings to the 2012 and up models. Also, is there a cam recommendation that will utilize boost? Thank you again for your time
Hello Sir... Thank you for the great videos,
I have an oil leak from the engine on the right side just below the radiator bottle ,the oil leak is so much that i have to fill lile 250ml every 2 weeks.
the engine is good and no problems or sounds .
the engine was never opened, it has 160,000 km.
thanks.
Hi bro
Greg from Australia
can I get some advice pls? you've helped me sort with my old 1.8t a4 .I trust you above most others.
Now Ive got a 2006 3.2 b7 choking on oil (as they do) .. I will try clean the carbon out one day but meanwhile I'm about to install a oil catch can. Thought it'd be easy.. but after watching some vids I'm now totally confused as to how to route the piping.
I had a mad idea of running a oil catch can on either side of the motor.. out of the top (next to the oil cap filler) into the can, and back out into that same pipe that was connected (next to the oil cap)
Then figured Id repeat all that on the other side/bank of the motor (but another dude was talking about the left bank being the clean air intake and right bank being the dirty side etc ...and had a much more complicated system going on..totally lost me)
what am I missing here ??
wish you were in Oz man!
happy to fling some coin if you can sort me out
cheers
Greg
Awesome video. Very nice job. Thank you. I really appreciate it, and will be doing the job this weekend.
very helpfull video. how often intake valves need this cleaning???
great video. Someone mentioned the 3.0t is very different disassembly? that would be great if you guys made a video on that.
Great video,is there much difference in doing a newer 2012 3.2l with the oil control solenoids for the vvti?
Same thing
Johnny Woo
the aluminum pipe is good....
Hi I have a 2009 Audi Q5 3.2 Quattro and I need to replace the secondary air injection box and need to know if I need to pull out the engine to do the job bcuz I took it to a Mecanic and I was told that the engine needed to be pulled out to do this job is that true please let me know I will appreciate it
Do you have a video on how to replace the coolant pipe on 2006 Audi A4 3.0 convertible on the fire wall
Very detailed and helpful, thank you !
great video. i plan on doing this myself real soon. would it be a good idea to also clean throttlebody and intake runners?
great vid man keep em coming!
Great video could you please give the torq spec for the runner and the intake and i was wondering donyour have to change the runner and the intake gasket or are they re usable
Sorry for any speeling mistake english is my second language
You can reuse if they are in good shape. Honestly though, they are not very expensive, and probably good insurance to replace them as well.

Thanks it is exactly what i did i ordered a set of upper and lower intake gasket and injector seals from ecs tuning since where i live in canada everyone only wanted to sell me the injector repair kit for 35$ instead of just the seal for 2$
How long did this job take from start to finish in real time?
Jason ST well, including soaking and making video 5hours, if without video and soaking about 3hours
what do you use to vaccum the chemical out of the valves?
Thanks
Where did u get the intake gaskets and injector seal even audi is having trouble getting the and they want 391$ for them
Do you have to soak? Or could you just scrape off the large stuff and vacuum?
Grate, I am about to do the thermo and cross pipe, what the company and parts no for the water pump tool.
Thanks for making this video. Did you have to do anything special to purge the air out of the fuel lines? Or is it not an issue with the high fuel rail pressure?
Do you have to remove fuel rails to get thermostat out?
No
Thanks for the video.
I would like to know this same issue??
