This is by far the most informative and best review of these glasses on RUclips. Well done! I currently use the nreal air and will probably be getting these as well. One little thing to add, you shouldn't use maximum brightness while gaming, it will 100% cause screen burn in after a few weeks or months. That was my experience with the nreal air glasses and these for sure will have the same issue. But you can use full brightness on cellphone, like when watching a movie or other content that doesn't have any static image on screen, that would eventually cause a burn in effect. Good job again on the video!

I think the nreal air and the rokid max are the best AR glasses you can get, at least for that price range. I hope a RUclipsr will one day make a video comparing the two AR glasses. It's a remarkable technology and definitely worth the money.

But you can't use that extra brightness while gaming, because it will 100% cause screen burn in. Which is a permanent image on your display and it will make reselling the glasses very difficult. You can only use the high brightness levels, if you are watching movies/shows, since the image is constantly changing (no permanent icons on screen, like with video games). Also, 120hz is not compatible with everything yet and it might not be fully compatible in the future. And the screen size is almost exactly the same as the nreal air. The AR mode is about 215 inches and the screen casting mode is about 115 inches. None of them can case 215 inches or anywhere near that, when in screen casting mode, which is what happens when you plug it to a steamdeck, xbox, ps5, etc... So the screen sizes on both glasses are pretty much the same. The nreal air in my opinion, also look nicer and more natural when you wear them. The rokid max don't look like traditional glasses, so in public it won't look as natural. I also like the fact that the rokid max improved on their audio quality, i wonder how the audio compares to the nreal. Overall, i too think the rokid max is the better value, since you get much more. If the rokid max had the same design as the nreal air, i would 100% prefer to wear them, over the nreal. I suggest you get the rokid max, since its the better value right now and the newest tech in the AR space.

I appreciate the kind words. After using both, I'l definitely take the Rokid Max over the Nreal Air. They're very similar in functionality but you get a better value from the Rokid Max. For one, it's brighter than the Nreal Airs which is huge for some people.

Unfortunately the screen size is still pretty similar in size to the Nreal Airs when using screen mirror. I won't use the difference in screen size as a deciding factor between the two 🙂

I'm very curious about how these glasses hold up over the long term. I am interested in getting AR glasses but I'm concerned about eye strain and possible eye damage. I got an Oculus for my birthday and I can't use it for more than 40 - 50 minutes without getting eye pain and headache.
About the console + rokid max limitation to 1080/60Hz, this is limited by usb-c to hdmi adapter. Maybe in the future we can find an adapter that can handle 120Hz.
This is a bit pricey but definitely a nice investment for a great experience. I'd probably use this with my Steam Deck and might even hook it up to my PC to see how that works. I'm also curious how this would handle a Switch. The new Legend of Zelda is right around the corner after all. 🤔
Theres a lot of different reviews about the screen size. So when you watch a movie in a theater thats how it looks with a big screen. Cause some are saying is just like having your phone right in your face and the screen is not that big.
Good honest review that's a drawback cannot pin the display and have a full 360 View that the main reason I'm going to have to pass on these and go with EM3 Ether VR Glasses or wait and see what Nreal 3rd generation glasses going to offer.
I really want to like these but they just do not fit my face correctly. I have to remove the nose guard completely to be able to see the entire screen. If you have a wider flatter nose it works better. If you have a more narrow but taller nose they just don't fit right with either nose pad set included.
Do you know if there is a hub that would work to charge the Steam Deck / Asus Ally while using the glasses? The hub that's included explicitly states only the Nintendo and phones work with it.
Thanks for the detailed review . I wanted to ask do you loose any of the image for the steam deck or watching videos on phone. Ie is the edge cut off or rounded off. Also have you ever tried any other AR glasses like Nreal would love to get a comparriaion. I currently got the Rokid Max and Vutex Ar glasses on order they have both said I can return them if I don't like them even after opening them and trying them on so I'll have a look and see which I prefer, I would imagine the rokid will probably win as this is not there first attempt I'm hoping they have learned some valuable lessons along the way.
I replayed the part about the hub charging the Steam Deck several times but I don't get it. Most likely because english isn't my first language. Anyway, you said that the hub works fine with phones but not with the Steam Deck. What's the issue? And how much PD is hub can provide? For people who use glasses, you can just adjust the myopia correction knobs on the glasses so it clear for your specific eyes. You won't need to use your glasses when you have these on :)

are you sure the Steam deck cannot do over 60 hz? I have hooked it up to a 144hz external monitor before. When I went to the quick setting menu on the steam deck (...) the refresh rate cap setting options changed. normally it says what frame rate cap 15, 30, or 60 ? but with the external monitor I was seeing 30, 60, 120, or uncapped. This is from memory the menu you might be a little different. But since the ar glasses are treated as an external display in software, I would predict a 120hz option would be present in that menu. I was hooked up to a powered usb c hub when I tried that. it is possible power is needed for that setting. Bare in mind that 1080p 120hz is pushing the steam deck. I'd expect it performs that well esports games but that's about it. I recommend FSR enabled and low settings to increase frame rate. The latest glare utilities also could help performance slightly.
Hello, What you can do exactly using AR mode? i wanna know more details please reply for example does it have a mode where the screen stays in the middle? even though you move your head it stays right there? and can you get 3 screens using AR mode like on XREAL 2 ?

I just got mine and I'm kinda disappointed. It is not able to play any ps3 games or my 3d blu rays on my ps3. I was under the impression it could connect to the ps3. I have the adapter and the home screen is fine but once I play anything only sound comes out with lines all over the screen. Also they're not really good for multitasking like some ppl said in their reviews. I think they shouldn't have been made sunglasses. Normal lenses with the cover for blackout would've been better

Steam deck can do 120hz at 4k or 1080p but it requires displayport compatible devices.

Works great with the switch but you'll need to use HDMI. A direct connection between the switch and glasses didn't work out during my test.

What if you wear glasses? How would it feel any information would be appreciated.

The hub is supposed to work with the SD in the mass production copies is what I was told by Rokid but it wasn't working with the unit I got 🙂

I wouldn't use these glasses for much else other than gaming/watching movies. Most of the other features aren't very solid yet imo.
