This actually happened in real life, and Niki said he was terrified when the translator was telling Enzo what he had said about the car, but Enzo said 'Ok , now fix it and if it doesn't go at least 5 tenths faster I'm firing you'. Niki set up the car and it went 8 tenths faster. What a legend.

He's Piero Ferrari, the one who translate to Enzo Ferrari those impressions by Lauda. The results was hilarious. The Drake, with unexpected patience, said: "For you, how much we can improve?" Lauda answers: "at least by 5 tenth". So Ferrari said "Ok, seems fair enough. If u don't, you'll fired ok?" Then Lauda worked with Mauro Forghieri and improved by 8 tenth. Force of perseverance and desperation united made the miracle. XD

For people who don't know why the guy was like "oh you can't say that". It was a very popular thing for ferrari to fire drivers just because they criticize the car. Alain Prost was a famous example.

Lauda was most definitely a part of Ferrari's success in the mid to late 70's. He used to march into Enzo Ferrari's office after every test session and tell him how things were going, no bullshit. Very few people have dared to do anything like that in Ferrari's history.
