I love Nuno as much as anyone (I'm a guitarist) but damn, Gary doesn't get anywhere near the recognition he deserves. One of the greatest vocalists and frontmen of ALL TIME. Absolutely love the guy.
Agree! Nuno is one of those guys that other guitar players knew and loved but was a little under the radar overall. I was a singer and always kinda felt that way about Gary. Dude always brought it vocally and can work the crowd like a boss. I think I really realized what a badass he really is when I first saw the Freddy Mercury tribute.
Gary Cherone certainly did a great job but i never found his voice very compelling on the harder songs. Technically proficient, sure, but somehow lacking that special ingredient. He's much more interesting on the softer, i.e. acoustic songs
I'll have to disagree here. I LOVE Extreme, but always found Gary's voice a bit of a turn off, too agressive to the ear and somehow charmless... I would even dare to say the band might have made it bigger with another singer. Like Steven Tyler did for Aerosmith...
@@rhk4680 unfortunately I do agree. But he's seems like such a niice guy that we'll over look it!
@@Boethius411 Reading your reply I was thinking the exact thing. It was the Freddy Mercury tribute that I saw and realized the Extreme talent of Cherone's vocals and stage presence. Phenomenal!!
He definitely deserves way more recognition for his talents.
Nuno Bettencourt needs more credit and recognition... He profoundly deserves that.... He is criminally underrated... When Gods like Brian May say so many flattering things about you, of course you are great the least...
His technique is the best of them all. He turned me onto guitar when I was 10, 1990, and still to this day I can't get enough of his percussive nature on that N4.
Nuno is one of the greatest ever have you heard his new solo in a song called rise just came out a few months ago it's got millions of views and the critics considered nuno solo on of the best in the last 10 year if not the best
One of the greatest bands! Not of this or that decade. Just one of the greatest bands period. 🤘😎🇺🇸
Yeah One of the greatest bands of all time better than their heroes Zeppelin Aerosmith and Queen, The greatest rock bands in rock history. 😎🤘🇺🇸
@@andyivanov9931 lol funny
I have seen some of the best bands and artists live, Extreme is top 3, I saw them in a half filled Gainsville auditorium 3rd row and they threw everything and the kitchen sink into their performance. the drummer Paul Geary was playing a small drumset but he rocked it! Bass player rocked, Nuno was amazing and blew my mind with his virtuosity but it was Gary that was on fire, he moved like a man on fire. He rapped, danced and moved all over the place. Excellent live band.
The best band in the f@#$%ng world....!!! Perfect mix of virtuosism and feeling... imposible technique skills and heart n soul from their guts... magistral vocal arrangements, beautifull orchestation.... funk, metal, pop, funk, heavy, folk, funk, jazz, afro groove, funk, classic, funk and more funk.... aah... the FUNKYMETAL LORDS. I waited for their reunion for 13 years.. never lose my faith.. every f@#$%g day from 1995 to 2008 ... listening and playing their songs... Sorry my bad english, I dont have words even in my native language for explain what Extreme is for me. Thanx so much for this video... You made my day.
To this day, any time I'm handed an acoustic guitar, the first thing I always play is More Than Words. I absolutely love this album, and am so happy to see this documentary.
That He-man performance, three lead singers ripping it! Love the arrangement!
Became one of my favorites fresh out of the CD case. Extreme belongs in the RnR HOF!
Nuno is an absolute beast
I don't think Gary gets enough credit as an amazing frontman!
I could not agree more!
My favorite band. They’re all fantastic including Kevin that I appreciated in Nuno’s Dramagods.
Nuno is in The Gallery of Top 10 Rock guitarists without any doubt ! ...
He's a Van Halen clone. Don't be silly.
@kodertian He's an Eddie Van Halen clone. Double time.
@@Mysterywhiteboy78 Yes VH was an influence but Nuno is absolutely NOT a fucking clone. The guy has a completely original attack...tone and his phrasing is unique to himself. He would be the first to say EVH was an influence but name a guitarist after 1978 who wasn't influenced by Ed.
@@Mysterywhiteboy78 I love Eddie but was he able to play someting like Midnight Express? I don't think so. Nuno is absolutely not a clone, he's a more complete guitar player and artist, in the large sense, than Eddie. Look over Pornograffitti man...
@@laloutre9106 I've heard it many times, saw them live in 1991. Eddie Van Halen clone.
Extreme is the best band that ever existed! Not even a lie!!!🎉❤
Wowww! Andy, this is a great collection you've here! 👍💓🔥🎸
My favorite band, Beautiful.
Amazing. Amazing career. But man, Steven Tyler here...
Thank you Extreme for the great music!
Thanks for uploading this. I saw them on the 2nd night of the tour for this Porno revisited tour and I loved it. They were fully charged and kicking ass. I didn't know they made this documentary.
It ends abruptly during More Than Words. How much more is there to this documentary?
Still have the memory of seeing them in Springfield MA in 1990, Paramount Theater. 16 years old, pressed against the barrier right in front of Nuno, just staring at his hands and being mesmerized at what I was hearing. Now, 30 years later.....Nuno "Wadaya mean you gotta bake the tape? I didnt even graduate high school, slow down..." Lmao
Man this was a great documentary one of the bast bands
back when I used to work corporate, my business' headquarters was based out of Boston. My boss at the time would tease me for being a mega-fan. Years later, I'm singing full time for a living in a cover band in Omaha, NE. Been told since my teens I looked like Nuno. I always thought I bore resemblance to Gary, if anything. Regardless, this was a great watch, I'm a huge fan and I'm thrilled this latest release kicks so much ass
Fantastic Documentary, way overdue. It brings back memories of the first time that I saw them ( The Troc,Philly,Pa) fantastic show.
My favorite band!!!!
GREAT band !
Love NUNO BETTENCOURT,kind of new to remembering all the great Extreme music
Great Band wish theyd tour England again 🤘
Dang..... Ron Thal is a maniac on guitar!
If HE’S praising your skills, you’re doing something right! 😎
For me Paul was always a great drummer, seriously funky and was part of the extreme rubric. But hey , he decided to take another path , you also have to respect that , but as a fan was a bit shocking knowing he was out of the band.
Nice guy too i met him after an Extreme show in 1991....
I watch video of Paul decided to focus on managing bands like Godsmack Smashing Pumpkins Steel Panther and Alter Bridge after this the band hire Mike Mangini (currently drummer for Dream Theater) to record three songs and tour with them until 1996. Now They finish recording the album to release it next year it will be amazing to hear the new material.
@@andyivanov9931 Hope you're not holding your breath....
@@andyivanov9931 Mike played on Dramagods, might have done so on Mourning Widows too.
There's so much music in Nuno that just resonates with me. The techniques, the tones. Looking forward to hearing the new material. Hope they don't kill each other 😂
@@iamdansimons Hi Daniel. I don't think so Sir. Kevin Figueiredo played on Dramagods Love, and toured with them.
1:55 them playing "Here's to the Losers" which would only be released in 2023 on the album Six! 🤯🤯 Genius!!
Saw them a few times; three sides tour and waiting for the punchline. Got to meet nuno and Gary and hung out with them. Cool dudes. Totally chill dude’s
According to the Alice In Chains book, these guys were assholes as well as extremely cheesy and dorky
Those first two albums are tops for sure
What rock band has four original guys in their 50s with (apparently) full heads of hair and not fat? That's pretty impressive tbh.
Great Band . From Brasil
I heard they are from America...
@@slavisajelenkovic7398 Whoooosh!
Amazing band but I grew out of their music really quickly after Porno album
Yeah the tide was changing back then, with Grunge happening...
It's pretty ironic that they played Aerosmith and then toured with Aerosmith a year later for some shows due to Axl and company pulling out. My first concert ever was Aerosmith/Extreme in 1988. It was supposed to be Aerosmith/G'N'R but Axl had "throat problems". Fuck Axl
You traded up IMO.
these guys are like magnets...they done other projects but aaaaalways get back together because thats what works
Thanks for sharing guys.
Great! And the show? 🙈🎸
GOD. DAMN! that version of "HE MAN WOMAN HATER", Nuno sounded better than the album. Jesus!
(Vocals,..nit so much).. ;)
I'm a fan, still!
Thank you guys.. we love you
Nuno has a great sense of humor saying he didn't graduate high school
Extreme was a victim of the late 80s early 90s radio rock bands. They had a huge ballad hit but they are a great rock band. Saigon Kick was very similar (not as good though lol)
finally a documentary about extreme
I love Nuno I think he’s good at what he does and he’s gorgeous. Brian may, Stevie Ray, slash and bb king and Albert king all great at what they do.
Nuno has funk chops for days. Stevie Salas doesn't come close.
Check out 'warheads' ROCKS!
this is historical.
What song was that that they were playing at 1:41?
I loved extreme.. how did I miss that they got back together.?
I thouthought Nuno refused for like 20 years..at least..
The reunion album was great. So was Nuno's Population 1 and Dramagods albums.
@nowonyuno 100% agree, Swollen Princess is one of my all time favorite songs
*Amazing guitarist, brilliant really, just a second rate human being*
Henry John huh?
God , when Nuno breakes out into "He-man woman Hater".. fckn awesome. Might be too soon, but Nuno is way more melodic and critical (timing wise) than our beloved EVH. (Rip Ed).
Jmo?
Funny how this started as a Gary project but Nuno gets all the attention. Yikes.
Nuno thinks he run's the whole show. Hes totally hung up on himself
@@lorettasearcy1471 oh be quiet.

Yes he did, Gary at first had 2 guitar players. then he got Nuno.
@@straycatsanctuary3475 and by the way I already took what I said back.
This is an awesome documentary
More than Words 2021
saw that Halloween show at Narcissus
I really wish they didn't ruin this thing by including Eddie Trunk
lol
Eddie is the worst
Nuno got to marry Suze DiMarchi, one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.
Nuno is way prettier:)
What was the solo Brian May was talking about?
Get the Funk out

@@kanesanders6669 awesome thanks, I haven't heard it for about 20 something years 👍
42:47 you can see that lead in lick right before the tapping part is the same open string concept as the Rise solo (0-7-12 across the bottom 4 strings).
Does Nuno ever let Gary talk ever when they're together? Lol
Love Nuno's stories but all the f'n time he's yack'n.
Nuno is all about himself all the time
@@lorettasearcy1471 god made nuno that way. I think he says drummers in the band when to jumpat. Hes cool dictator
Nuno thinks he's the leader of the band , and he thinks he's the best 🎸 player in the world .. and he's not .
What song in 01.45 minute
I'm slightly confused here.
Paul Geary is talking about the old days on the film here........but why is he not in the band any more???
I think Geary is a Manger now.
they are litterally discussing this in the video.... did you not watch?
When Nuno Hit play...FUCK YA
They're working on Here's To The Losers about 2 minutes into the video!
SO....BRUCE springsteen joined the band
No Kevin joined the band
Eu tinha muitas cassetes dessas :)
"Music historian" Eddie Trunk, hah. The ego.
Anything after 1988 and he's lost.
@@SteveBello any genre outside of metal and he's lost!
Eddie doesn't 'get' Steel Panther.
Steven Tyler looked drunk😂😂😂
43:00 nuno still blows my mind, only guitarist besides Ed who gives me chills! To this day!
Money! In God We trust... until now !!!
Watching this it becomes apparent how shy Gary actually is. This was obviously Nuno's band, even from the beginning. He has the more dominant personality. It's always an oddly peculiar thing when the lead singer of a band is also not the natural leader as well.
What is this song?! 1:45
Oh well thats ok I didn't finish school either
this dude could just go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
Who?
Nuno talks too much. He loves the sound of his own voice.
@@lorettasearcy1471 and you love listening to him...
Always Paul Geary
How did this Nuno bloke NOT age?
Hes Portuguese and Vegan
"Here's To The Losers" at 1:40 mark I see.
great catch!
Man, this doc is all over the place. I like that it says Bumblefoot is the "fromer " lead guitarist of G n R.
nuno, it didnt work out with this one girl, and i blame you man, where were you man? , i needed your songs, and you didnt show up, now shes gone nuno, ....damn it
I remember Garys mom's porch
Wow "other side of the rainbow" 1m40 👍
2:05 what is wrong with some people these days. I wonder what they would think if they knew who they are...crazy world. Crazy people.
Paul didn't have long hair. That should tell you something right and then about him not being as passionate as the other guys when playing...l🤣🤣
Te amo Nuno pra sempre amor da minha vida
Te amo nuno❤❤❤❤
Nuno is a narcs like crazy. IM the one who broke up extreme.
He's not a narcs, it's just the truth, he's the one who broke up Extreme. The others didn't want to split up. He just takes his part of responsability in the break up when he says that.
37:18 which solo is he talking about?
Get The Funk Out
There's a Japanese rock band who call themselves Pornographity....
Tribute band?
Nuno broke up with his wife via email after 19 years of marriage
Ah now I see where your hate comes from lol.

Hate to say it, but this style of music is technically fantastic, but sounds incredibly dated. There, I said it.
And Bob Seger doesn't? Pfft.
Dated? Enlighten us how music gets dated? Imma young but I love it. If it moves you, every music is legitimate.
@@Ingravity6232 Damn right.
As rhythm player Nuno equals Eddie Van Halen.
Overplays.
jorge fernandez And as lead guitarist, he's greater than Eddie Van Halen.
He is on the LEVEL. I would not want to say someone is better than another(not at that level anyhow,) Vitto Bratta was one of em as well. I dont like reading comments hacking down Nuno as if he was just a copy cat. Not true. All sorts of guys all over the net can play 500mph and tap and sweep pick and all that as good as anyone. They cant write a good catchy song. That is something special.
@@victoza9232 not even close. Pump the brakes there kid. Big difference between EVH and basically everyone else.
@@jasoncharles9481 That's your biased opinion. However, it might change if you were to expand your musical world and listen to more guitarists out there. Don't get me wrong: I love Eddie's playing with Van Halen -- it's awesome -- but he was limited stylistically. The more educated players today are much more versatile and musically literate. Check out Guthrie Govan or Greg Howe. They not only can shred and play heavy metal, but they can also do straight ahead jazz and jazz fusion. Their harmonic palette is more sophisticated than Eddie's was.
boring doc, only for extreme Extreme fans
Extreme fans are likely the only ones watching this...why else would this be watched ?🤦🏼♂️
I'm in awe of the quality of your insight. I'm very glad that I read this comment. It was very helpful, possibly to millions of only mild Extreme fans who would - if they hadn't read your comment - maybe found the video mildly interesting. Please elaborate on your thesis. Maybe some day you can generate a table where one can look up whether one's a simple Extreme fan, a mild Extreme fan or an extreme Extreme fan and find the right documentary to watch. You could write a guide, maybe?
Personally, I'd probably have to see myself as an extreme Extreme fan, because it certainly is a documentary for me.
Yeah... It's like me being fucking boring watching a doc about Beyoncé... since I don't listen to her music 🤦♀️. So you know the solution? Just don't watch this 😅
the band were great, but this video is way to much. the made a videao about themself as gods that they are not. They NEVER played a stadium tour or made it big.
Lol what a 🤡
Cherone is a weak singer
That Van Halen thing was embarrassing too...
Definitely not.
He's competent but lacks that special ingredient
He has a stunning voice and presence.
Check out Extreme's "Six" album. I didn't appreciate his voice until then. His vocals are stunning on that album.
@nunobettancourt te amoooo quiero conocerte
Nuno should’ve found a better band Gary is zzzzz always was.
