Oborin and Oistrakh, Gilels and Kogan are duo- giants of the Soviet era, who were rarely allowed to perform abroad. It’s amazing, we have some high quality recordings made with top recording companies( EMI for example), so we can appreciate and admire their artistry.
I love the sound quality of older recordings such as this one. It evokes a kind of nostalgia, especially when hearing a beautifully lyrical piece such as this sonata played by two masters of the art.
Oddly enough, I discovered this piece on the RUclips channel Action Figure Therapy. This Franck piece and the vulgar nature of that channel do not mix. But this adds a sense of decorum to a foul world. Thank you Franck.
Jahrhundert!
I can't believe these 26 people who disliked it are they joking?!!! Who could not like this wonderful performance!!!!!! Even an alien would enjoy and like this extraordinary music
Maybe it's the violin playing style... Perhaps a little prim and proper from Mr. Perfect? Try this version if you care ruclips.net/video/_BJ13kqZ3g0/видео.html :)
It's always the Heifetz fans. They are devoted to one fiddler only. They're on every thread, "But Heifetz plays it......" whatever. Or, I heard a B note at 31:02 that was 1/millionth sharper than it should have been. I know because I have perfect pitch, even more perfect than the other guy that has perfect pitch and can only hear in thousandths of a pitch. They are bores, or even trolls.
one of the first record coming from then USSR into Europe .I remember still the green cover .In my opinion the utmost interpretation of this famous sonata !

The best I've heard of this piece. Breathtaking phrasing, tempi. Magnificent.
Oistrakh was the greatest of them all.
Magnificent execution. The undestanding between the two exceptional performers is admirable
No computer could make music like this. An intimate, thoughtful performance. Wonderful playing.

Analog recordings for strings were definitely richer.
@@merxeddie6474 I read richer as "richter". Guess I've been listening to too much of the great Sviatoslav 😂
not analog so much as valve!!
Yes, this is Oistrakh! The sweetest tone !
Super interpretation! I played this 1982.
As good as it gets! Thank you forever, Oistrakh, Oborin for your amazing recording!❤🎶🎻
Наверное, в сотый раз слушаю эту запись. Это настоящее волшебство!
Стерн играет в более медленном темпе.🎻🎻🎻

Extraordinary piano playing by Oborin - a wonderful tonal matching of Oistrakh's violin.
