    Absolutely love this! Would love to suggest to everyone that they setup a compost bin with worms for the shuck rather than trash it...but that's just me. Thanks, again.

    I've seen this trick before from a different RUclips video, wasn't 100% sure how long to put it in for. 3 minutes was perfect. Only thing I did different is no butter, salt or pepper. I like it plain!

    in India we usually peal out the husk n keep it directly on gas burner nd rotate it regularly wen blak spots come around the corns den rub lime n salt on it and enjoy the treat... :)

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  7 лет назад +8

      This is done on a regular basis in numerous restaurants in North America too. Grilled corn. Some like it, some don't like the char. It comes down to personal taste. I like it both ways. Delicious. You may also keep the husk on the corn - soak the corn for a few hours in a bucket of water..... then directly onto your gas burner ( or outdoor BBQ ) and heat the corn this way.... the outside of the corn dries up ( the husk ) gets a little charred, but the inside becomes perfectly cooked and amazing. That's another very popular way of doing it. Different strokes for different folks.

      rintube12 Hi Corinne, thanks for watching :-) It's a very old technique, but still works well today. Believe me, it saves SO much time and effort, and the end result is amazing tasting corn, as all that flavor is locked in the husk instead of going into the water. I hope you try it sometime :-)

    I just found this vid of yours. This is the only way to cook corn, so simple. When I found this method a few yrs ago it was for 4 min which works perfect for us but this is the only way I'll cook corn. Thanks once again.

      Judy Handschug Hi Judy, a wonderful way to go isn't it. My microwave is rated at 1,000 watts, so my time is rated for my oven, but yes, whatever time you use in yours is the way to go. I tested out several corn to see how little I could go before it wasn't fully cooked. Amazing how easy it is, and how much more flavor *stays inside the corn* a really old trick but a good one. Thanks for watching Judy :-)

      Freda Weigand Hi Freda, I hope you try it out. It's an old trick that has been around a long time. Easy to do and it produces very good corn, as all the flavor is locked in, vs boiling your corn in water, where a lot of the flavor and nutrients are lost in the water. Try it, it's fun ! Thanks for watching :-)

      Hi Lisa, thanks for watching and I hope you do ! The flavor that stays inside the corn is incredible vs doing it in water like most people do. Boiling it in water removes so much of the flavor. Looking at the water after you boil corn, you can see evidence of that. Anyway, thanks for watching and try it out, and let me know how it went for you :-)

      @BakeLikeAPro  3 года назад +1

      Hi Daniel ! 😁 First, thanks for watching ! I appreciate it and .... Yes, absolutely ! I did a few corn on the cob on the BBQ just over a week ago. I did not soak the husks as you may have seen some do, I just threw the corn ( with husks on ) onto the BBQ and they were done perfectly. Amount of time I can't remember exactly, but it was a bit more than 30 minutes. This depends on how hot your bbq is and the placement, but yes it works 100% fine. I hope this helps and thanks again so much for watching.

    Comes out great. But mention should have been made of the microwave wattage (a frequent omission in microwave recipes). Mine is only a 700, whereas 1000 is more common. 4 to 4.5 minutes is required for corn in a 700 watt microwave.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  3 года назад

      Hi Peter, you are 100% right, I totally forgot to mention that, sorry for any confusion. I do have a few more of these corn videos here on RUclips and in them I do indicate the Watts of the microwave. Sorry again, and thank you for watching.

    • @petermc3986
      @petermc3986 3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the response BakeLikeAPro. I'm living through Covid in a holiday rental and it has the cheapest microwave! I didn't know you could get as low as 700 watts, so am very aware of it when following recipes. With most recipes, I assume they are 1000 or 1200 and adjust accordingly. It's no big deal as it is fairly simple trial and test. I love corn and had cooked it for years, stripping off the leaves and silk. Your method is not only so efficient, it also "locks" in the flavour.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  3 года назад

      Yeah 700 Watts is really weak. I didn't even know they made those. The one I used I believe was an 1100 Watt model. Glad you enjoyed the video Peter, stay safe ! and thanks for visiting my channel ! 😁

    Really? Only 3min? I boil for like 40 min on stove before it's tender enough for work to go in.. everyone else sys it works so... Have so much corn from Papa's garden... Soo good. Tnx

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  6 лет назад

      Hi Jennifer, boiling corn for 40 mins is a NO-NO. The best time for corn is about 10 minutes. IF the water is boiling, 10 minutes is all you need. Cover the pot if you can, it works better like this if you have 4 or 6 cobs in there. ( this helps the water boil ) Some add sugar to the water, but you just don't need it if you have amazing corn to start with. Boiling removes most of the goodness from your corn. Check the Wattage of your microwave and away you go.... base your time on that. I just bought a new tiny microwave last month and did corn a few times thi week, 3-1/2 minutes... my new model is 1,000 Watts. The corn I tried was very large, and it was perfect at 3-1/2 minutes. I forgot to tell you that part .... cover with plastic wrap, it works very well also. Wrap each one individually, or put a few on a plate and cover with your plastic wrap.

    Are corns that we make on stove and that we boil in water are different??

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  7 лет назад

      The corn is the same. You can boil in water, or microwave it this way. This method keeps all the flavour inside the corn. Boiling in water removes much of the flavour and most probably a lot of the nutrient content.

      Cristine Osorio Hi Christine, I honestly don't know :-( I have never seen frozen corn on the cob. Frozen corn in a bag, yes, but never still on-the-cob. I will guess that yes, it would work though. Do you buy corn on the cob that is frozen at your local store ? I'm very curious to know :-)

    • @Ckom18
      @Ckom18 10 лет назад +1

      Lol sorry, I meant that frozen corn in a BAG
      But thanks anyways ^_^

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  10 лет назад

      Cristine Osorio Hi Cristine, you can also do this with frozen corn in a bag, I do this of often. Use a microwave safe bowl... pour your corn in, add a bit of water, about 1 tablespoon, now cover it with plastic wrap ( this is the secret ) it perfectly cooks the corn..... and keeps the moisture in. If you microwave without the plastic wrap over the bowl, the corn dries out and is not good.

    Is there a different type of corn use to make like the one in the video, and another to make popcorn?
    Both cook in the microwave for 3 minutes, but in this video it's cooked, but the other one turned into popcorn.
    Can someone explain to me.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  8 лет назад +1

      +AlexSDU Hello, I do not have any video where I make popcorn, so you may with to ask this question on their channel. To quickly summarize, the corn they use for popcorn is a special type of corn, not the corn that comes naturally on a cob. You can also Google that and you will have hours of great reading material I'm sure :-)

    • @AlexSDU
      @AlexSDU 8 лет назад

      Could it be that the corn use to make popcorn are dried corn?
      I saw a Martha Steward's video where she put a whole corncob into a paperbag and cook it in the microwave for 3 minute, same 3 minute you use to cook your corn, and it end up become popcorn.
