Back in my day - we had to shuck the corn with our bare feet, uphill, on a field of lego pieces, while the Queen made fun of us, in a dog costume!
Did you smoke the silk?
Awooo!!!
😂😂😂😂
I too had to shuck corn this way Back in my day…
😂😂😂 that’s a good one.
You are so cool werewolf
True story: Many years ago when I was a child, about eight years old, my parents were into canning and freezing vegetables, corn was a particular favorite. As such, they bought an entire dump truck full of corn; yes, that is a lot of freaking corn. The truck backed into our small driveway to the backyard and dropped the entire load on the ground. I was lucky enough to be appointed the task of shucking every single ear of that corn. No microwaves back then. I still have nightmares.
😆 You still have nightmares…😆 THAT’S a lot of corn!!!!
I too had this same exact issue! Only I had 2 dump trucks of corn to shuck.
Those corn husks could have made a lot of hats.
Did you have to make corn cob pipes though?
awwww so sad pour baby
This video changed my whole life.
You need to read more books, dummy.
@@dalefrye9361 ok sir thank you.
What a dull life
Some life…..
Mine too. I'm a corn chef
6:30 am and I'm about to microwave the first corn of the season for breakfast
Best believe I’m gonna shuck it
You’re not about the life lol 😝
😂😂
@mrbrad41471
It's kind of funny I just had the first corn of this Season 2 days ago and yes I ate it for breakfast and dinner.
I've done this several times with the same results. The corn is tough and less juicey.
Donald Snow thanks for this info. I’ll stick to the old fashioned way.
I saw in a recipe group where you boil your corn in milk, butter and a little sugar. Maybe that can help?
I think I'm gonna run into the same issue, old fashioned is most certainly the way to go, not to mention the old method(s) are probably less time consuming
Mine was fine I soaked it in water before with the husk on
Maybe cooking it too long? I have used this method for years and it works every time. I cook 2 ears for 3 mins 30 secs. And it’s perfect! Even corn picked 4 days earlier. Just make sure to cut off the stem after cooking…so much easier to cut, and cut off enough that the husk leaves are not still attached to the cob. I also peel off some of the leaves before cooking to make it easier to peel.
Thank you so much for this! I'm doing a seafood boil and wanted to use fresh corn plus show my daughter how we used to do it when I was young. Then I thought about how hard/long it was going to be to get every piece of silk off of each corn. I just tried this and it was AMAZING! Thanks for the time-saver!
If you boil corn with some silk on it , it usually comes off in the cooking process.
Easier to hold the base of it where the stalk was at your hip, and proceed to split the hairs and husk in half, and peel down. It's fast and easy. I tried this method and it didn't work well when I put it in the microwave for x amount of time and cutting off corn that I could still consume. Instead, make it simple and spare you less time by following the steps I mentioned👍🏻
This helped me so much. Thanks a lot!
I love it!!! Works perfectly!!! 💖💖💖
Never tried until today as daughter gave me 4 cobs to try to make cream corn. It worked. Now awill do all the time.
Just shucked some corn and when I finished I searched RUclips for worlds fastest corn shucker. This video came up. I'll continue my most important search.
It worked just as shown!!
Thank you so much for this! Shucking corn is very much a pain in the neck. Seriously, when I shucked my corn, it was very harsh and a hot mess. Let’s be honest here like it’s a ‘Let’s go Let’s go have you ever seen a corn get shucked’ moment (cmon we can all agree here). Now that I know this tip, I can just turn out here and shuck this corn. I can also learned how to productively shuck. Thanks so much! Once again enjoy your shucking, and shuck right on!🌽
Yes it is a very hard job . I’ll bet it didn’t take more then five minutes to shuck . They just don’t make them like they used to .
Back in my day we used husks of corn to take off the husks of corn.
Back in my day, we had slaves.
i;ve been doing this for 10 years....love the "NO SILK"....i take off about half the husks before i microwave....works like a charm...
I don't know why but this has only worked for me a few times and I swear, I'm doing it EXACTLY like she just did. The only time it ever works is if it's sweet corn that was bought from one of the various local farms that set up their own roadside stands. I live in a very rural area that's actually more farm land, grazing fields and tree farms that cover massive swaths of land. I can't wait until they start harvesting the corn. It's so good that I'll eat it by itself for a meal
Son just brought corn. This works so well! Thanks!!!!
I just did this successfully heating only 3 mins in microwave. I found that pealing the cut end back a little helps the corn slide out easier.
The cooking time varies with your MW's wattage.
What an amazing way to make corn on the cob! I just did it and it is wonderful. Thanks for posting❣️
it works
It Works
it really truly works & is a complete game changer.
🏆Best Hack Ever
This really is the best way to cook corn.
Just tried this and it works very well!
I love how they had the audience clap and cheer like this is something new that nobody's ever seen before. I'm 48 years old and I've been doing this since microwave first came out.. lol
Well, I'm 55 and never, ever heard of this till I did a search. Been since the '70's helping my step grandmother down south, we did it all manually. :)
satisfying 👌
This pisses me off!!! You know how much time I could of saved in my childhood!!
But did you have a microwave???? Nay, nay! Bet you didn’t!
Hate to say this but....LMAO!!
Talk about some boomer energy
Trick to remove corn kernels in 1 minute ruclips.net/video/DvdK3-EzIIU/видео.html
Wow 😳 corn is amazing
i looooove ittttt
Really!!!!Wow!!! You can do more than one at the same time!!!!
The farmers start a pot of water boiling, go pick the corn and run back to the pot while shucking it. Best corn ever.
It takes a whole 4 to 5 minutes just to shuck one corn. I could probably have 10 to 15 already done in that time.
Did this today with 40 ears of corn for freezing. Worked like a charm. I did soak my corn first so it wouldn't dry out as it cooked in the microwave.
Did you put the corn in a sink full of ice and water when you took it out of the husk . It’s called hydro cooling . Then pat it dry right away and then freeze it .
Thanks 😩 Roda💜
W-O-W!!!
GAME CHANGER!!!
I had my little ones each try one ear the old way and one ear this way. We were all surprised! Worked like a charm. I also tried an ear without microwaving but it didn't work that way. Thanks!
But did the microwaved corn taste worse?
K L Probably, but would most kids even notice?
Wow ... Never say THAT done before.....
Does this work for ears of corn that are already partially shucked...will the exposed corn become "popcorn"??
Back in my day we threw husks of corn at things
Not using the microwave!!
Odd man out doing 20 ears 4 minutes one at a time I didn't get these results
If you cut the tip instead of the base, it’ll take all the hairs, and you don’t have to heat up the corn, you just peel and the corn comes out clean
Wow great technique... #HariKrishnaSahu
Good 👌 thanks 🙏
What a great way to husk corn. Shucking is when you take the kernels off the cob
You are correct sir . I was going to say it before but didn’t want to start any scuttle but .
Leta BitofEverything+ This is what I was talking about except you should be as to do it without the microwave
SO EADY WISH I NEW THIS YRS go thx for th hack
I can't believe this, this was kens original idea
How come no one is commenting about washing the corn before cooking? Cause you know, pesticides and whatnot. I also shuck my corn at the store. There's a big trash bin next to the corn for you to do so.
How can I do this without a microwave? Thanks!
May Davies
Let out a smelly fart.
@@JoseSanchez-bp7xz dumb ass
I've seen a similar video using a big bot of boiling water on the stove.. whole ears of corn with husks go in and boil for about 10 minutes (I believe that's what it said,) and then you can pull them out and cut off the end and pop them out just like this. Just don't burn your hands. I don't have a microwave either so, I gotcha. Lol. Sorry I'm 2 years late.
first you suck it, than you shuck it
Those were the years.
5 minutes?! 😂
Literally took me 4 minutes to shuck corn, 10 minutes ago
kevin gilley but there was silk all over it. With this method you don’t have to do anything during those four minutes plus it’s perfectly cooked and silk-free.
@@sugardoe1065 no you rub it off. Whatever you don't get goes off in the boiling water. Why would you cook the corn in the microwave then cook it again in the water
Magic ... just saying!
They call me the ear shucker of corn
I am reluctant to use the microwave as I so not want to sacrifice flavor and texture in exchange of ease. Anyone who can tell me it tastes just as good and doesn’t become dry and tough?
Mic all the goodness right out of the corn~ DUH!
Just tried this with Taber corn, it made it suck, Tasted like the leaves, no longer sweet tasting, waste of time.
*DON* Cooking corn *WITH* the husks on is a very common, and then obviously a *TASTY* way to eat corn. You've never roasted corn on open coals then...sad for you that you're missing the experience, *AND* the great flavor!
OK I just re-watched it it’s 4 to 5 minutes but that is a long time per year of corn
Well whey you have 200 ears of corn to shuck....
Granny been doing this since forever...i remember i was by the microwave when they took out at least 6 corns and dropped em on my head...i was in tears my head was scolded for almost 2 weeks
Why were you in the way and you weren't helping? 😅😅
@@heyyall5651 lol I was helping I was so small and they droppdropped it on my head
@@shabazzh9474 Awww..you poor thing. In that case I feel bad. Continue to help Granny
@Life, Love and Mental Illness a vlog channel lol thank you for the lesson and yes I was scalded!
its edible but seemed like the corn was softest up by the top end of cob
WTH?!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow nice .... #SaurabhAnupamSahu
Merideth is a Frekin Gorgeous SMART Woman ..
So my dumb ass for a quick easy corn on the comb snack fallowed directions for a quick microwave corn ont he con. The problem is I realized I wasted my time and energy for peeping the corn. I’d delusional the corn wash it and not pick off all those hairs and then put butter on my corn with minced garlic then re wrap the cob with cleaned no silk hair husk pieces to prepare for his cremation
Yeah well I’ve got 4 35 quart ice chests full of sweet corn. Guess I just need like 7 microwaves
I am Today years old 😮
What about us tin-foil-hat people that don't use nuclear devices in their home - lol. Can this be done in boiling water?
Right, cuz EVERYBODY has a microwave.
Why are you in the microwave for 45 minutes did you mean seconds and doing that one at a time when you got 100 carbs to do wow
The microwave cooks out all the nutrients tho… 😕 I’m going to try this with boils corn
is this Gordon Ramsey approved?
Mine came out chewy. Not good. Threw it away.
Gale Martin
You didn’t chew a smelly fart? Did you whiff it?
Duh!
I like to wash my corn off though so this would not work for me, it was a nice idea tho
I do this all the time . I is nothing to shuck the corn , with no silk on it ,right out of the microwave !!!!
If this video was real life she'd be wearing overalls
This works if you have a few ears of corn, but isn't practical if you are doing dozens of dozens.
Shucks...
stolen idea.
*DAN* Nobody can trace it to who actually came up with this, sorry. And nobody is claiming originality.
I saw it done with Chef John on a video that was posted up over 4yrs ago..
*DAN* Hope you slept well :)
😳😳😳
Not everyone uses a cancer box...I don't own a microwave 😐
Yuck! Microwaved corn!
WTF IS HAPPENING TO AUNT SUE?!???!
She is a hacker
I have a 50lbs bag of corn, this wont work but thanks
Tip: use hands
@@Daby1 Thats what I did, I was just wondering if there was a trick. But even if you have 1-5 its way easier by hand than doing this
Cool, except I have 36 ears to shuck. 😕
No
Lost me at microwave
Not the fastest.
Incredibly stupid to microwave corn it just ruins it. It takes two seconds to do this without the microwave how lazy people are
By the time you do a dos this way, I could shuck therm and have 3-4 eaten. What shit idea this is
gino edwards well....aren't you just the Martha Stewart
Waste of time this does not work. False advertising.
Karen Reigle seriously. Ive been cooking corn this way for years
Seriously, ive been cooking corn this way for years (i hate the silk). Corn isnt a a vegetable and doesnt have many redeeming qualities but sure tastes good (without the silk).
5 minutes is TOO MUCH for a single ear of corn!! I could shuck 5 corns in that time! Also, I NEVER microwave anything for that amount of time, it is equal to "cooking' the corn or you could even overcook it when all you need is FRESH corn.
*BC99* Have you tried it? If I shuck corn first, we put it in a sealed plastic bag and it only takes 2 minutes if I recall. With the husks, the longer time very well may be needed.
I do 3 min. on high. Comes out perfect
BC99
You need to let out a fresh batch of smelly farts.
Ok so the corn is steamed in the husk along with the pesticide? No thanks. I'd rather take the husk off first, rinse the corn to remove any residual pesticide, and then steam it.
Lou Ruocco the problem is women today want to crank open a can of whatever and call it a meal. This way they have time to more important things like Facebook, their hair, their nails you know all the stuff that important to them. This world will soon be in a very dark downward spiral like we never imagined. They have take the woman who was the head of the house and messed with her priorities. Hence more divorce less love and fidelity but most of all the kids gain nothing you say all this from an ear of corn I say the corn is irrelevant it’s the principle as you said .. “ what about the pesticide” Peace
Ascanius
Hell just be glad they knows how to use a microwave.. oh wait it's modern technology , I'm sure they can
Allen Wilson I get it but the freakin pesticides man ! I live in the country and I haven’t eaten conventional corn of any sort in years until I stared growing some myself and let me tell you there is QUITE a difference. These days everyone want their Mcdonalized meals quick and tasty not considering for one second the shit that’s in things MONSANTO CORN OH YUM it kills anything that touches it but it’s safe for human THEY say and these are the same scum that brought us agent orange in Vietnam which they said was VERY safe as well Peace
Lou--- Who would buy corn that was grown with pesticide anyway????? You think it washes off?
Lou-- Unless you are adding pesticide to the corn water--- but THAT makes no sense-- anyway, MY corn would never have pesticide on it!
Why the hell would anyone microwave their corn??? This is so stupid
I could shuck like 10 ears in 5 minutes easy without this technique this is a waist of time
"Fast and easy. Put it in the fucking microwhave for 4-5 min xD lmao" just peel it its faster
I'd rather use corn in the bathroom than to microwave it!! Yuccy.
AYYYOOOOO
Keep your microwave no thanks
Amen!!
