    I mean, Levy said in most dimensions invincible joins omni man, so he got ALOT more cruel memories regarding invincible after scrambling his brain. And even though he was in a dimension where invincible didnt join omni man, he still tried to stop levys plan to save the world (unknowingly). I think that would be convincing enough to believe that invincible is fated to be an asshole.

    Respect Invincible. This comic was written WAY before Rick and Morty was even thought of. Also, Mark has known he was a Viltrumite ever since he was a kid. Remember Omniman told him that he would get powers at some point and explained their race to him. What he didn’t know, was exactly what Viltrumites ACTUALLY do bc Omni man lied about it.

    This isn't about Angstrom. He isn't the main villain. The main villain right now is Mark's trauma and fear of becoming his father. The narrative that Angstrom brings can help address his internal struggle.

    Remember, Angstrom said in *most* other dimensions, Mark went evil. So it's not just the Angstrom from the alt universe at the beginning whose memories he got, he got the memories of who knows how many other Angstroms that came from other "evil Mark" universes. The amount of memories he has of Mark being a vicious, bloodthirsty monster outweighs the amount of memories of him being a benevolent superhero.

    Literally the whole episode they mention that in most dimensions Mark became a monster and even showed an example at the beginning of the episode and continued to show and zoom the camera on the Angstrom from the dimension that became an example.
    Mauler says "you are lost in memories and don't know which are yours and which came from others"
    Angstrom said "he killed so many people I loved"
    People when in the end Angstrom wanted revenge - "What? Mark? Why? Oh, these typical villains without reason and logic."

    This is amazing. Angstrom Levy is being set up to be such an interesting antagonist for this season and now he is a hivemind. He was such a good person.. but what he did was too risky, and unfortunatley.. they did this at the wrong time, and now Angstrom Levy has become a sort of abomination...
    I think this was a strong start and I am so glad that Amber is being a W so far. I also do think Omni-Man will come back.
    But this is completely amazing.. and I am scared for Invincible.. I wonder what the Mauler is also going to do he is the last remaining Mauler it seems..

    The whole amber fiasco in season 1 could've been avoided if she actually would've been portrayed as a flawed teenager. She could've been shown making those bad choices out of insecurity and false bravado, but instead those choices were portrayed as the "right" choices made from confidence. She could've been a young "thinks to know it all"-type that grows and learns, but instead again constantly reinforced that she's in the "right". The disregard of flaws is what made her unbearable and that didn't actually change so far.

    • @cyborgboy9854

      I’d understand what you meant if Amber weren’t in the right for dumping mark. Whether or not she knew his identity beforehand didn’t change the fact that mark was a bad bf, that’s all the motivation she needed to finally dump him after giving him chance after chance. Mark simply couldn’t be a good superhero while also fulfilling his role as a bf, it was literally the best option for both of them at the time. Only reason she’s back with him is to support him emotionally after what happened with his dad.

    • @lukasal91
      @lukasal91 8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, if her reasoning would've been about it being disfunctional or mark not comitting to either her or hero work i wouldn't have anything to say about that specifically, but she snaps at him responding to an emergency endagering everyone right infront of them. That's the drop that spilled it and she is not "right" for doing it on that. It would be understandable if she didn't know about his hero work, but admitting she knew yet constantly tormented him because "it made her feel supid" is not "right".
      All fine if it's a teenager doing mistakes, but unbearable everytime the show or someone like you thinks it's "right".

      @@cyborgboy9854while i can argee with you to a certain extent, her knowing beforehand *does* change things. The fact is a bf and a bf who's a super hero *can't* be held to the same standards. So if she didnt know, the thought that "he's the worst bf ever and I'm going to dump him" are completely fair, but if she does know, there are only two possible "right" responses imo.
      1. "I didnt sign up for this"- dumps him
      2. "By willingly staying with him, this is what I'm signing myself up for and i have to change my standards"- understands
      Heck, amber herself seems to understand this in season 2 episode 3.
      Spoilers if you havent watched it yet.
      In the episode, mark calls amber telling her that hes going away to another planet. He says that he's sorry and she tells him not to spillover and basically says exqctly what i said the 2nd possible "right" response is. "Dont apologize. This was part of the deal and i signed up for it" basically

    Angstrom and his portals, first appeared (looking pretty much like in the adaptation, but more detailed) in 2004... _almost a decade_ before Rick and Morty (and a couple years before Doc and Mharti, though if I recall correctly there were no portals in that), so if anything someone involved in the production of Rick and Morty might have been influenced by Angstrom Levy, rather than the other way around... though the similarities are probably more likely to be just a coincidence.

      It really made little sense to do that, the concept is very very good, the execution was indeed very very bad. Just changing that one small detail would pretty much fix most of the negative reaction. She could still not get back with Mark just because he told her.
      But the recontextualization of the events at the university was the real issue. That is what made a lot of people dislike her.

    • @cronicasdeltiempo7540
      @cronicasdeltiempo7540 8 месяцев назад +3

      I disagree. It was indeed vey bad. Her reaction at the university didn't make any sense with the new context.
      The previous episode really didn't seem to work together with her already knowing. It was really bad because it should have only been one or the other. Either she knows or she reacts differently during the events at the university.
      To be clear her reaction doesn't have to be being happy, but a different kind of reaction was warranted if she knew. I genuinely think it was a continuity mistake for her to already knowing nd her reaction.

    • @9TrixieTurner6
      @9TrixieTurner6 8 месяцев назад

      @@cronicasdeltiempo7540 something I noticed is it has to do with how Mark and Amber are presented. Mark is shown to be a bit of a fuck up and a bit of a dumbass so whenever he fucks something or makes a dumb teenager mistake it doesn't really stand out much cause its whats expected plus hes the main character. Amber is generally presented as intelligent and capable so when she fucks up or does a dumb teenager thing it stands out more. So thats why her doing something so typical of a teenager like what happened with the college seems odd cause she isn't shown that way usually like Mark is.

    And having read said comic around ⅔ of the way through, the show is sticking very close to the comic, when it comes to the main story.

I wouldn't say I disliked her, because I can sympathize with her, but I liked her less than this Debbie.

    In the comic, I remember Amber cheated on Mark emotionally after she find out Mark is invincible and left him for the other guy who was an abuser and Mark had to 'talk to that guy' and Amber forgave that guy and took that abuser back ...so...I don't think she was the "human is good" part of mark's life...
    I believe cartoon Amber is a huge miscommunication...IMO, when Amber said "I knew you are a super hero" is not really trying to show she is smart but to show she is stubborn. She didn't really know, she might have suspect but there is no way she actually know for sure until Mark told her. I think the writer trying to communicate that Amber was still angry about being lied to and will say anything to justify the anger but regret really quick. She also just said she want to be alone, didn't really breaking up with him. She need time to clam down. Especially you can see when Mark left, She look out and stared with anger then changed to soft looking really quickly.
    This is why sometime, too much subtlety is no always good for a show.
    like when Eve trying to hug or kiss Mark after they defeat Dr. women study and earth quick, then Mark took off before she could do anything and Eve was visibly sad. From what I know, most people missed that subtle part...
    In Amber's mind, his boyfriend either left her and run away while she was in danger or rather let her think he is a coward than trust her with his real identity. and she probably think Mark has always been lying to her including pretending to be weak and let the bully beat him so he can get her attention. because Amber didn't know Mark got his power after those event, for what she knew, Mark has always been a super hero. That is why she said "you made me feel stupid".
    However, it was a try and fail for sure. I don't hate season 1 Amber as much as most people. Not the biggest fan of her but don't think she deserve that level of hate.
    I think she was a compilated character, she was more real than what I would think a cartoon character is.
    In real life, if I know my boy friend is a super hero and just lied to me this whole time when I have no idea why he is always missing; my first reaction probably won't be very happy either...I would understand why and won't blame him for anything, but I probably will still not be very happy to be lied to this entire time and won't just say something like"wow, you are sacrificing your life to save others, I am so proud of you". then make love with him (comic Amber did) I don't think that is realistic. I think after a day or two, I might think that way, but at that moment? I doubt anyone can change their emotion that quickly...
    I don't think the writers trying to make Amber "strong and smart" I think they trying to make her have some emotional flaws like stubbornness and always trying to look tough, I believe they think that will make her more grounded, but many people did not take it that way..

    • @Rebuswind
      @Rebuswind 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@jonathanmasilela1569 I think the writer think people should understand what they was going for...well, they were wrong.
      they under estimated how many people will think characters in a show should have the same level of information of the viewer.
      Let's actually think what Amber was going through...
      when Mark left her when she was in danger, she already suspect Mark might be a superhero, she knew the guy who saved her was most likely Mark, but when confront him, Mark still lied and rather her think he left her to die than trust her with his identity.
      Or she was wrong and Mark is not the hero who saved her, Mark really left her there to die.
      no matter which was the truth, it will hurt.
      then Mark still not tell her his identity until she want to break up with him.
      Mark confessed not because he trusted her but don't want to lose her.
      that is not charming or cute, that is hurtful.
      So she was still angry but she has a flaw, which is always want to looks level headed when she clearly wasn't.
      that is why they showed her sadness the night before and the soft sad face after Mark flew out of the window, and that is why she didn't really say "we are breaking up" but ask Mark fly away and leave her alone. she just need time to clam down.
      That was never a true break up and that is why she went to Mark in the end of the season.
      The writer try to make her more grounded...but it a bit too much and forget many viewer are so use to "if you know someone is a hero, you will forgive them for everything".
      Mark was a shitty boy friend. he is a great guy and a kind hero, but a very shitty boy friend to Amber.
      This is a more realistic writing for relationship.
      In real life, if you keep ignore your partner, even the reason is justified, but you keep lying about it, your partner wouldn't be happy when they finally found it out no matter by themselves or some other way.
      but many people don't want realistic relationship, they want Amber be the regular GF of a hero, just supporting our hero and forgive him when his reason to be a bad boy friend is justified.
      They want Amber be like Debbie.
      Don't get me wrong, I love Debbie, but she is just too perfect for a mother or a wife of hero, but we all know what she got in the end...
      a broken heart and drinking problems.
      I like how Amber challenged my thought, challenged the "he is being bad boy friend, but he had no choice to sacrifice me to save people, so I should forgive him" thing.
      Many hero are shitty boy friends or husbands. especially in this show, including Mark...at least for now.
      because I know what arc Mark probably will have since I read the comic...
      I never shipped Mark and Amber, but I don't think anyone is wrong, Mark was not wrong but he was a shitty BF, justified, still shitty.
      Amber's reaction is not outrages, it is actually make sense if you think from her view with information she knows at that time.

      @msbkaioken136 I can't say I agree. One scene can and regularly does make or break characters, especially when that scene is a climactic turning point in their relationship with other characters. Especially especially considering that in this case the scene in question ends up retroactively making her far less charitable and likeable for SEVERAL preceding scenes.
      That single scene in episode 7 of the first season DID ruin Amber entirely for a LOT of people. Mark may have been lying to her, but he wasn't doing it out of disrespect, he was doing it for the very well-trodden and understood reason of superheroes keeping their loved ones safe.
      Her being mad at him in that scene is justifiable. She can snap and be angry in the moment when he tells her the truth, but that doesn't make her justified for all the times she yelled at him for not being on time when she knew full well that there was a good reason he was late/absent.
      She could and probably should have confronted him with the truth several different times, but she didn't. Instead, she kept expecting him to come clean while constantly putting their relationship on the rocks and creating a situation where he's LESS likely to tell her the truth. That one scene makes her a full-on bad person, and season 2 is just changing lanes and acting like everything is totally good now. It's jarring considering the elephant in the room of her genuinely terrible behavior is just unaddressed for the time being.

But when you've just heard that the reason why my boyfriend has been late and not being 100% truthful is because hes SAVING LIVES then your maturity level should reflect that context. A rational person regardless of feelings would take time to understand what had just been said. In general people dislike people who are incapable of restraining their feelings in times of dire importance. Its like a person having road rage because there are ambulances loading people up on the highway after a crash. Your feelings are very small compared to the importance of the other thing. Thats what happened between mark and amber.

    • @bakuhakudraws5603
      @bakuhakudraws5603 8 месяцев назад

      @@msbkaioken136 My issue isn't with the character's emotions, it's with the writing and the way the narrative treats it.
      I completely understand and think it's actually pretty in-character for Amber to act like she did: She's always been kinda headstrong and self-important, pushing others into getting what she wants from them, even as far back as the first couple of episodes.
      I'll backpedal a little from my earlier comment: Amber isn't a full-on bad person, but when it comes to this particular situation, she was unequivocally terrible to Mark in the EXACT way she accused him of being terrible to her.
      That's a good character, and it's a good flaw for her to have. it SHOULD make for good drama between them. They both have flaws and did things wrong in season 1, and that's good character writing.
      The issue is that this... hasn't caused any drama, at least not yet. Mark just doesn't bring up the fact that Amber knew and was manipulating him just as much if not more than he was lying to her. She just runs back over, kisses him and says 'I wanna be together again' without either of them discussing the still-present issue of their honesty with one another, and then they're just... fine. She's nice, sweet, happy, and accepting of him being her superhero boyfriend instantly in season 2.
      Now they absolutely CAN still fix this, as I said in my first comment: have her admit to her flaws and that she was in the wrong. Mark should and almost certainly would also apologize for his dishonesty as well. We just need a scene of her looking back on her mistakes and acknowledging them as such in order for this new happy, stable relationship of theirs to really make sense to me.
      I say Amber, specifically, needs to admit to her flaws, because Mark has already been raked over the coals, both in a broader narrative sense, and specifically by William and Eve after the breakup, for his fault in it. He was wrong to lie to her as long as he did, and she was right to be upset about it. Thus far, The story and characters haven't even acknowledged that Amber did anything wrong, but they have acknowledged and confronted Mark about it, so it feels like the show is saying Amber is the one in the right with regards to their conflict in season 1, and that doesn't sit right with a lot of viewers, myself included.
