Moi, Anna :) I've loved these guys for about two years. They are really different from anything the West has to offer. The only barrier I see is the lack of interviews in English. Tom More loo from RATM brought them to America to get a recording deal. They play their music in traditional Muslim dress, including headscarves, but they don't cover their faces. You are the only Vocal Coach reactor I have ever heard attempt Mongolian Throat Singing, why does that not surprise me at all. Great reaction and breakdown as always. 🤘
Love your reaction, as always :-) greetings from Germany to Suomi. Your example of throat singing was pretty impressive, like your vocal fry is. Thorsten
From my understanding- and I am by no means an expert!- the deeper throat singing technique (I believe what's being employed here is called khoomei) is actually fairly close to subharmonic techniques. I learned about those from Geoff Castellucci, the bass singer for the a cappella band VoicePlay who employs this technique with great skill. He also has a few instructional videos on how to perform this- basically, the gist is to sing a fundamental note but allow your voice to drop into vocal fry until the ventricular (false) folds are vibrating at precisely half the speed as the vocal cords. This produces a note one octave deeper than the fundamental sung note. Geoff has used this technique to (most recently) extend his range down to an astonishing B0! With the Hu, I've heard different kinds of throat singing employed- khoomei, kargyraa, and sygyt, which is basically the overtone technique you were demonstrating. I don't know if you noticed at the time, but sygyt throat singing was actually being used in the intro to this music video. (And I started typing this while I was still listening to your reaction. Toward the end, you mention doubled vocals, or layers fooling your ears, and what I suspect you were hearing was when Jaya (or possibly Enkush, but it sounds like Jaya) chimed in on the final verse along with Gala, the lead singer here. Jaya has a higher tone than Gala, and I've noticed that they tend to do octave harmonies- more Gregorian, almost- rather than the more western harmonies in thirds and whatnot. I'm probably explaining myself poorly; my knowledge of music theory is just enough to get me in trouble, as it's often outstripped by my enthusiasm!
So nice reaction, love it :). Yes this is very repetitive but instrumental part make a variations during song. It is very interesting music and band. They have more interesting songs.

That was quite an INTERESTING choice! 🤣 Mongolian throat singing is something I’ve heard before, but not in this setting. I actually like this folky, metal vibe. I’m not sure I could listen to a whole album of this, the throat singing in particular, but I’ve listened to them a bit more since your review. Their rendition of Metallica’s ‘Sad But True’ is really nice. But you should listen to their ‘Song Of Women’, featuring Lzzy Hale (another awesome female rock/metal vocalist). Such an interesting mix. ruclips.net/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/видео.html Enjoy your weekend 💜
The Hu is amazing band, Please listen to The Warning rock band from México, are 3 young sister with much talented, much power and a energy incredible, the song "evolve" is great.
Anna great song Saara Aalto The Final X Factor UK 2016. Saara sings Whitney´s I Didnit know My Own Strength. I love this song, niin hyvä.Den här sången är bra.
11:54 that which you are doing, is what I did too when trying to do that kind of throat singing a while ago, when I listened to someone else and thought that was subharmonic singing which Voice Play bass singer does. And I happen to make sounds that are similar to these throat singers’ sound. It’s just that you need to add a nasal buzz to that ‘woahs’ that you are doing (felt like vocal fry but I was channelling the sound a bit through my nose, works well if you just hum and find out the buzz that works. It’s like vocal frying with nose)...... Subharmonic singing lessons on youtube might also help on understanding what this particular sound is.......... I really just figured it out recently and I can’t do it on command. But just sharing with you if you wish to get an idea on the technique. 😊😊
I am well aware that I am not doing it correctly hahah! This is a great comment for someone who wishes to venture into the throat singing world more. My strong points are in the musical theater, jazz, blues, rock, pop, r'n'b, etc. 😊
Considering he was an inspiration to Nightwish, how come nobody has dragged her into the Ayreon rabbithole yet? 😀️ It's a bit more into the progressive symphonic rock opera realm with many featured artists and singers from the metal scene. Progressive, but still easy listening. Never goes completely off the rails and digestible by most with an interest in music. "Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down" music video from "The Source" (album) tend to be the introduction for most reactors, followed by a bunch of songs from Ayreon - Universe (live). Complex and dynamic riffs as expected from prog, but not overly so. Absolutely love The Hu. Still disappointed something messed up and I couldn't go see them in Oslo. They was the main event for me. Edit: There is more from The Hu of course, incl some interesting collabs and covers. Alternative? Not rock, but more world folk stuff, check out Daiqing Tana also easy listening (I prefer albums over live), Mongolian and features some throat singing in some. Not sure it's something that would draw a reaction audience, but dammit do I love her voice (she's not throat singing). And I'm usually more into technical music 😂
Came to your channel and subscribed 😀 You are very authentic. And there is a full circle, don’t you think: from the Mongolian planes through Ural to the Suomi ! and yes you noted the similarities: throat singing techniques and all. Amazing isn’t?!
The modulation of the throat singing you point out at -11:54- is very similar to how an Australian digeridoo player will modulate his horn. It appears that it is the same principle at work. I have to wonder if they are aware of this or even emulating it to some degree.

Even a beginner on the Buddhist path like me, who have studied and practiced for 25 years, still have long way to go, before really getting all the details right. - It is so much more deep and profound than you can imagine. - ------------ Together with many of the other comments, I hope you get a feel, that this is so much more than you can understand. I will actually say; It is a great blessing that you even get to hear it! But it takes a razor sharp mind and very openminded person, to get that understanding. - Glad you liked and enjoyed it though! Please take good care of you, have fun and enjoy, and please keep bright, listen well and clever, so you don't end up like most other Vocalists who make reaction videos ;) 😎❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Hi Anna. Sorry i'm late on parade again! You are "GORGIOUSE!". Sorry did i say that out loud???..Ha!. How i wish i was younger. Greetings from Yorkshire England. take care. John.x
If you ever have the chance, see them live. Much more intense than the video.
I like your language like you like our national music, with love from Mongolia to Suomi ❤
Wonderful reaction ❤
I already knew about throat singing from a man named Omar who’s a Tuvan throat singer.
I love your reaction, good sense of culture and i love the finnish and mongol languages so much💙
❤️🙏
The Hu are THE best folk metal band in the world, followed closely by Wardruna, Grai & Heilung.
Always fun just to watch you get interested, Annikoutsi! You can make anything interesting. No moi!
Thank you Len! 😊
Love your videos! Something that would be fun is seeing your reactions to Heilung's In Maidjan. Thanks 😊
Throat singing is always mesmerizing.
Always cool to see bands wear their heritage on their sleeves. Another amazing one is Alien Weaponry, who are a Māori metal band.
Yep. Song Of Women should be next. (Collab with Lzzy Hale)
first time i listen to someone speaking in finnish, it's so nice to hear, nice video btw
Thanks Vic! 😊
LOVED YOUR REACTION TO THIS! Subscribed immediately. :)
THANK YOU for your support! It is much appreciated. ❤️ xx
Just imagining Tatiana Shmayluk (Jinjer) doing a number w/ these guys ; she could easily " fry them to the Moon " ( & back again).
Thank you sister. You rock.
🥰
🥲🙂

Let's get down to business! That's so clever I never noticed that
😏😏😏😏😏😏
You have to react to the Hu with Lzzy Hale, Song of Women. It's an incredible collaboration. It's currently my personal empowerment anthem.
After that Mulan reference, I dare Anna to react to Dan Vasc - I'll make a man out of you.
It's mind blowing.
Such an interesting mix. ruclips.net/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/видео.html
Enjoy your weekend 💜
The Hu is amazing band,
Please listen to The Warning rock band from México, are 3 young sister with much talented, much power and a energy incredible, the song "evolve" is great.
There are parts in their song I can imagine similar to Nordic European ancient songs. Maybe shamanic style itself.
You are spellbinding!
Anna great song Saara Aalto The Final X Factor UK 2016. Saara sings Whitney´s I Didnit know My Own Strength. I love this song, niin hyvä.Den här sången är bra.
Tack för din kommentar. 😊 I like Saara, I'll put her to my list! xx
@@annavaskelainen Alla låtar bra från UK 2016.
@@annavaskelainen ha ha 😜😅yeah you are right. Anyways love your content and reaction-analysis videos, keep us viewers busy 😁😊
Nice Fang display in the thumbnail Anna! You are a savage!
😂 hahahahh
Considering he was an inspiration to Nightwish, how come nobody has dragged her into the Ayreon rabbithole yet? 😀️
It's a bit more into the progressive symphonic rock opera realm with many featured artists and singers from the metal scene.
Progressive, but still easy listening. Never goes completely off the rails and digestible by most with an interest in music.
"Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down" music video from "The Source" (album) tend to be the introduction for most reactors,
followed by a bunch of songs from Ayreon - Universe (live).
Not rock, but more world folk stuff, check out Daiqing Tana also easy listening (I prefer albums over live),
Mongolian and features some throat singing in some. Not sure it's something that would draw a reaction audience,
but dammit do I love her voice (she's not throat singing). And I'm usually more into technical music 😂
Haha, i have requested Ayreon about two months ago, and i'm not the only one. It's coming in 2027. Patience, my friend, patiece. 😜👍

Came to your channel and subscribed 😀 You are very authentic. And there is a full circle, don’t you think: from the Mongolian planes through Ural to the Suomi ! and yes you noted the similarities: throat singing techniques and all. Amazing isn’t?!
Welcome to the gang, happy to have you with me! 😊 Hmmm interesting though indeed!
The modulation of the throat singing you point out at -11:54- is very similar to how an Australian digeridoo player will modulate his horn. It appears that it is the same principle at work. I have to wonder if they are aware of this or even emulating it to some degree.
Keen observation, much of the around world /music have spiritual connection. Know the Holy Spirit #JESUS
first time i got past the "ei saa piätä" about finnish.. .solid reaction !!
