If you haven't seen it, I had our friend who is a music professor at Texas State University watch The Hu's cover of "Sad But True" with me, and we talked about the throat singing in that video: ruclips.net/video/xJ2WInQ3gIw/видео.html
LOVW Halestorm, lzzy is just amazing. Getting ready to see her here in Colorado Springs!!!!! So excited. I also love your reaxtions, you guys are so kind and nice. I subscribed because of it,
Oh I'm so jealous you're about to see them! They put on such a live show. And thank you so much for subscribing. We try to have fun with all our reactions, so I hope you like all of them and not just the Lzzy ones! But we do have a playlist of just Lzzy and Halestorm content. We love them around here: ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnWzBwgt09zBiYASzpK68w4b
😂❤😂❤😂❤... Yaaay!!! Rock out... laugh cry laugh cry..aawe...rock out laugh... Smile ...aawe... That's what I thought of this reaction . I was all over the place in the BEST way. New Sub.
Awesome! Thank you so much! We're always happy when someone likes our content. I actually just filmed another set of videos with both Ladi and David, and those should be coming out of the next few weeks. I hope you like those as well!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked our video! I hope you've hit the subscribe button and stick around! And that's Ladi. We actually have an entire playlist where we try to rockucate Ladi. He doesn't know anything about rock/metal, so we're trying to provide him with a rockucation. And those videos are so much fun! You can check out that playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnVUY-Upmyjk1_VxpjiJLLCl
100% agree about vocalists…. They are no different than instrumentalists…some are born with natural talent, some require hours of practice every day, many are very good because of both… Thanks for the great vid!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked this one. I recently got most of the LML Crew together to watch a live version of Lzzy doing "I Like It Heavy." This version really showcases her range and the fellows were blown away. You might enjoy this one too: ruclips.net/video/DqCy1NvoqRc/видео.html And hopefully you've already hit the subscribe button and plan on sticking around.
Lzzy deserves a whole lot of credit for her English lyrics, they really do justice to the original intent, I would say. Makes for a powerhouse tune! Heart Wrenching!
Yeah, 100% We love Lzzy around here. So much so in fact, we have an entire playlist of Lzzy/Halestorm material. Check it out if you get a chance: ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnWzBwgt09zBiYASzpK68w4b
It’s immediately emotional because it’s primal. Tribal. It mimics the heartbeat or the sound of galloping horses. It speaks to us on a primal level and most of us are not connected to that source of our power.
Definitely check out Wolf totem, both versions. Start with the original and get Wolf Totem at their best. Then, check out the version with Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach.
I've had Wolf Totem on my list for a while; we just haven't gotten to that one yet! We did cover the "Sad But True" cover if you wanna check that one out: ruclips.net/video/LMrh-6FJseI/видео.html
Note. You can really see this in the Sad but True video. The band is centered around their shamanistic culture. Think about this and watch the video. Each member represents an element. Fire, wind, water and thunder. Their instruments were also custom designed to reflect the nature of that musician and element. SUPER COOL!!
Yeah that video is badass. Ricky and I reacted to it not long ago. Ricky hadn't heard it before, and he was floored. You can check that one out here: ruclips.net/video/LMrh-6FJseI/видео.html And if you haven't already, hit the subscribe button and stick around the channel.
They were famous long before doing Sad But True, they were the first Mongolian band to not only appear on Billboard charts but reached No.1. They did a song for a Stars Wars game. Their first 2 videos released in 2018 have 100 million views etc etc etc
Exactly. I had heard their most famous song Wolf Totem on the radio back in 2019 at least, and saw the Jacoby Shaddix remix, the Sugaan Essena song they did for the Star Wars video game and the Song of Women online prior to the Metallica song in December of 2020. I really got to love them while watching the various reactions during the covid lockdown and this led me to discover their other songs and I bought the album in the summer of 2020. I love it! They have an amazing concert they did to raise money for the pandemic that is on RUclips and they are equally amazing live. They also have a cooking channel that is quite amusing, they seem like such nice guys.
Came here to comment this, saw yours right at the top. These guys were famous long before their cover. Also, if you enjoy The HU, look up UUHAI, another Mongolian metal band.
Love Lzzy and love The Hu. I heard that The Hu had recorded this song and it was on their album and then somehow they got in contact with Lzzy and asked her to do lyrics in English and then re-recorded it with her. After Halestorm recorded their first album they had a DVD recorded where they played every song on it called "Live from Philly." Her and Joe (guitar player) did the song "I'm Not an Angel" together (acoustic) and it is a fabulous performance by Lzzy and the lyrics are great too!
Oh that's very cool ! I didn't know that about them re-recording it. And yeah, that "I'm Not An Angel" version is so beautiful. I love Lzzy so much. Thanks for checking this one out. I hope you hit the subscribe button and hang out with us.
Actually, at the point where you commented that Lzzy is harmonizing with The HU, she is actually throat singing. Jaya, the one with the longest hair standing next to her, taught throat singing at the conservatory where they all studied. He taught her enough to pull that off. It is very difficult and takes years to master.
I just came across this reaction, and I just want to say that this is what i love to see. It truly feels like you guys are filming 3 guys hanging out, 1 showing the other 2 a video they love. So often you have people reacting to the fact that they are filming instead of filming a reaction. This just feels natural, so you see real reactions. The authenticity is wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you so much! We're glad you liked the video! Almost everyone at LML is a stage performer in some capacity, and when COVID hit and live shows were cancelled, we wanted a way to keep our chops sharp so we started putting up reaction stuff. One of the things we wanted to capture with our reactions was what it felt like in the 80s to sit on the couch with your friends and watch videos. Sometimes we'd seen the videos a thousand times. Other times it was a new video. Sometimes we loved them. Sometimes we hated them. But it was always fun hanging with friends and watching videos. So that's the vibe we're trying to capture. We're glad it resonated. I hope you've hit the subscribe button and plan on sticking around!
Second time watching. So I really focused on Ladi's Lzzy reaction. So as that smile spread across his face i thought. The top of his head would fall back like those Monty Python cartoons. Can't get enough of that enthusiasm.
Thank you so much! We're so glad you liked this one! If you haven't checked it out already, we have an entire playlist where Mark tries to "rockucate" Ladi, and Ladi's reactions are so fun to watch. You can find that playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnVUY-Upmyjk1_VxpjiJLLCl And Mark and Ladi recently appeared on David's show, and Mark had them watch Rammstein's "Zick Zack," which, if you haven't seen it, is a bonkers video. You can check out that video here: ruclips.net/video/RQPNFysmQB4/видео.html And thanks for watching our stuff! If you haven't already, we hope you hit the subscribe button and stick around!
The Hu released just their version on the 1st album. Their people contacted Lzzys people. They gave her the jist of the song. Asked her to write new lyrics and melody. Three days later she recorded and sent it to the Hu. They mixed and invited Lzzy to do the video. She said she loved working with boys. Boys?
The band is great. First time I ever heard Lzzy was when she performed with Eric Church on the 2014 CMA Awards Show. She absolutely out performed him 100%. You see Nicole Kidman lean over the the woman next to her and ask who's that. At one point in the song, Lzzy let's it rip. They show this guy's reaction in the audience and he's like holy crap!! The song is called Thats Damn Rock and Roll.
I think I saw that performance on youtube, and yeah, she really does out perform him. Oddly enough, we rarely get hateful comments on our channel. We get a lot of the "stop reacting during the reaction" nonsense comments, but never anything vitriolic. But the one time we got some really mean comments was when I compared a live version of Lzzy doing "Slave to the Grind" to a live version of Sebastian Bach doing it. I said in the reaction that I thought lzzy outsang Bach even in his prime, and good lord the comments were bad. I mean, we have some really polemical videos about politics and we did a whole series on Pride month, which I fully expected would get us some horrible comments, but the worst comments was when I said Lzzy outsang Bach. It was nuts.
Check out some of Batzorig's videos, he does one with his daughter that is absolutely precious. Lots of throat singing and overtones. BTW in this video you guys were reacting to they do some overtone singing right before the end - that high-pitched almost whistling sound.
Oh man I just looked up some of those videos with his daughter and they are so adorable. I saved a couple to watch with one of our other group members who is a professor of music at Texas State. Ricky and I reacted to their cover of "Sad But True" here: ruclips.net/video/LMrh-6FJseI/видео.html Thanks for that recommendation. I hope you've already hit the subscribe button and plan on sticking around the channel.
For some reason LZZY makes me regularly tear up. There's something about the rawness of her signing voice that just gets me. We have a playlist of LZZY reactions, and in a lot of them, I'm visibly fighting back tears. ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnWzBwgt09zBiYASzpK68w4b We recently recorded a reaction to a live performance Halestorm did of "I Like It Heavy" and "Black Dog," and the end of that performance makes me cry every damn time. I cannot explain it. Here's that reaction too: ruclips.net/video/DqCy1NvoqRc/видео.html Thanks for checking this one out! I hope you check out more of our content.
Another awesome reaction vid! The Hu are just sooo different and I love it, I hadn’t heard the Metallica one until now! And Lzzy is amazing as always! Did you know she said that writing this song was the most spiritual experience she’s had in a long time. Have you heard the new album yet or will you be doing reaction vids to some of the songs?
I had not read that specific quote from her, but that's really awesome! And we've covered Halestorm on this channel quite a bit. I did "Do Not Disturb" for Halloween: ruclips.net/video/LMrh-6FJseI/видео.html And then I did "Back From the Dead" from the newest album: ruclips.net/video/EF569IW1TZc/видео.html And then I did a matchup between Lzzy and Sebastian Bach: ruclips.net/video/Fm3zNWgYjwU/видео.html And another matchup between Joan Jett and Lzzy: ruclips.net/video/iPjr0N05BU4/видео.html In fact, one of our members doesn't know anything about rock/metal, we have a segment called "Rockucating Ladi" where I try to rockucate him. We did two episodes dedicated to Halestorm: Part I: ruclips.net/video/SXnzL9wCdRs/видео.html Part II: ruclips.net/video/M2NoPkdNlsM/видео.html There are a couple of others I know I'm forgetting. We also covered "Steeple" on our T.V. show, but that one didn't go up on RUclips. We're covering "Vicious" on our T.V. show next week. The info to watch is in the description of this video. I hope you hit the subscribe button and stick around!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked this one! I'm sorry we haven't gotten to Eluveitie yet. I promise it's on our list, but we're now juggling the YT channel along with our weekly T.V. show on Austin Music TV, so we're still scrambling behind the scenes. But they're on the list to do the next time Ricky and I record. So thank you for sticking with us!
Another epic reaction video, guys! (Looks like Ladi isn't the one needing a proper "rock-ucation" regarding the sublime and stunning Ms. Hale now!) Having now seen you react to her collaboration with The HU, I'd love to get your take on her work with Lindsey Stirling, "Shatter Me". (Note: watch the official music video, not any studio sessions or anything. The imagery is super important to the overall meaning of the song-as well as being just stunning visually.)
Thanks Kurt! We're glad you liked this one! And yeah, I think we've turned Ladi into a Lzzy fan! I just put the Shatter Me on our list to do in the future. I'd kind of forgotten about that one, so thanks for reminding me of it! I'll save that one for when Ladi is over here recording. He'll love it!
I love the primal feel of The Hu. I love Lzzy Hale. She' a combo of Janice Joplin, Grace Slick and maybe Pink. She''s an enigma, wrapped in a conundrum...rolled in a taco. You should check out " Break In" ft. Amy Lee.
Yeah, Lzzy is fantastic. She one of our favorites around here. Here's a playlist with all of our reactions featuring Lzzy: ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnWzBwgt09zBiYASzpK68w4b And "Break In" is so good. I've watched that video with Lzzy and Amy in the studio a dozen times. I've got it on my list of things to react to in the future, so I hope you've already hit the subscribe button and plan on sticking around the channel.
I just stumbled across this channel while searching YT for Hu songs to listen to. I really enjoy the discussion and banter you guys bring to the channel. Also, one of my pet peeves at least so far is avoided which is talking over the song vs stopping, bringing on the discussion and then resuming several seconds back from when you stopped. You guys do it right. So, I've subscribed. If you're open to reacting to some excellent a Capella covers have a look at Pentatonix's Daft Punk medley, the official video. It actually won a Grammy and deserved it, as you'll see if you react to it. Keep bringing on them excellent reactions!
Thanks for the kind words! We're glad you liked the way we're doing our reactions, and thank you for subbing! We have a lot of different content on the channel, so we hope you check out some of our past videos, too. I'll put the Pentatonix cover on my list! Thanks!
I love how she touches and looks at and just falls right in with the guys.
Lyrics with translation:
The palm tree grows and flowers
As she sings softly my soul retains
My wife, an honorable lady
Compassionate and delicate
I am bones and I am skin
I am home, where life begins
I’ve started wars, I’ve given peace
Across the ocean, I carried the seed
I’m your lover
I’m your mother
I’m your sister
I’m your daughter
When Kings fall to their knees
They sing a woman’s song
When birds scream in the trees
They sing a woman’s song
The sunrise in the east
Sings a woman’s song
Every heart that beats
Sings a woman’s song
I am fire
I am water
I am empress
I am thunder
I am flower
I am wonder
I’m the object
Of your desire
I am beauty
I am grace
I am faith...
The birds sing and tweet in the eternal blue sky
They are happy and joyful in their souls
My wife, an honorable lady
Compassionate and mesmerizing
When Kings fall to their knees
They sing a woman’s song
When birds scream in the trees
They sing a woman’s song
The sunrise in the east
Sings a woman’s song
Every heart that beats
Sings a woman’s song
The Argali (big horn sheep) springs and flies in the mountains
Her fondness melts me languidly
The birds sing and tweet in the eternal blue sky
They are happy and joyful in their souls
Every heart beats a woman’s song
Every heart beats a woman’s song
Every heart beats a woman’s song
Every heart beats a woman’s song
This verse is only in the original and not in this collab:
With the precious words of your forefathers
With the milk blessed road (life journey) of your mother, the true path
With the power of love for your homeland
Have a fighter spirit in you, be steady
As if you were a blade of a sword
As if you were a point of an arrow ready to shoot, spring and fly, ride and rise
Nice
That whistling high part at the very end is also throat singing - that's the nasal cavity overtones thing - the bit just before the final fiddle outro. I think it's Galaa singing it.
If you haven't seen it, I had our friend who is a music professor at Texas State University watch The Hu's cover of "Sad But True" with me, and we talked about the throat singing in that video: ruclips.net/video/xJ2WInQ3gIw/видео.html

Stunning. Seriously.
Yeah, it's gorgeous. Makes me cry for some reason.
I love Ladi. You feel the music like I do. 😛
Hi from Adelaide Australia, I was so lucky to have seen them twice live. This song is on repeat in my car.
It’s immediately emotional because it’s primal. Tribal. It mimics the heartbeat or the sound of galloping horses. It speaks to us on a primal level and most of us are not connected to that source of our power.
Got to see The Hu in 2019 when they toured though the US.
And now on their 4th tour of America. I seen them 2020 in Australia, they are coming back this August, l have tickets for 2 cities
The Hu os amazing! Please, react The Wolf Totem - The Hu. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
You guys are fun to watch. I like 👍

This version is more about praising women but the original is more about gratefullness and message as a reminder to the other men

there is actually three or more members that do the Mongolian throat singing...it's not just the lead singer

Did you know she said that writing this song was the most spiritual experience she’s had in a long time. Have you heard the new album yet or will you be doing reaction vids to some of the songs?
I had not read that specific quote from her, but that's really awesome!
And we've covered Halestorm on this channel quite a bit.
I did "Do Not Disturb" for Halloween: ruclips.net/video/LMrh-6FJseI/видео.html
And then I did "Back From the Dead" from the newest album: ruclips.net/video/EF569IW1TZc/видео.html
And then I did a matchup between Lzzy and Sebastian Bach: ruclips.net/video/Fm3zNWgYjwU/видео.html
And another matchup between Joan Jett and Lzzy: ruclips.net/video/iPjr0N05BU4/видео.html
In fact, one of our members doesn't know anything about rock/metal, we have a segment called "Rockucating Ladi" where I try to rockucate him. We did two episodes dedicated to Halestorm:
Part I: ruclips.net/video/SXnzL9wCdRs/видео.html
Part II: ruclips.net/video/M2NoPkdNlsM/видео.html
There are a couple of others I know I'm forgetting.
We also covered "Steeple" on our T.V. show, but that one didn't go up on RUclips. We're covering "Vicious" on our T.V. show next week. The info to watch is in the description of this video.
I hope you hit the subscribe button and stick around!
@@LikeMindedLunatics yesss I’ve seen those ☺️ I meant the brand new album that came out on Friday, have you listened to it yet?
the hu star wars fallen order reaction
The Hu-This is Mongol react 🙏
Another stellar reaction :) . Can't wait to see your reaction to Eluveitie ;)
@@LikeMindedLunatics enjoying this channel so no problem :) .
Another epic reaction video, guys!
(Looks like Ladi isn't the one needing a proper "rock-ucation" regarding the sublime and stunning Ms. Hale now!)
Having now seen you react to her collaboration with The HU, I'd love to get your take on her work with Lindsey Stirling, "Shatter Me".
You're talking about the Tribal People channel I think.
nice
I love the primal feel of The Hu. I love Lzzy Hale. She' a combo of Janice Joplin, Grace Slick and maybe Pink. She''s an enigma, wrapped in a conundrum...rolled in a taco. You should check out " Break In" ft. Amy Lee.
Yeah, Lzzy is fantastic. She one of our favorites around here. Here's a playlist with all of our reactions featuring Lzzy: ruclips.net/p/PL6kwOcqXuEnWzBwgt09zBiYASzpK68w4b
And "Break In" is so good.
Thanks!
I think the goddess you're thinking of is the goddess Shiva the Destroyer.
You're absolutely right. It's so aggravating when brain farts happen during a recording!
let the fool go
What fool?
Throat singing is only Mongolian asset, no other country hve it and not sing it
