Hm, never expected that much difference. Going from the 20 series to the 40's is like removing a woolen blanket from the front of your mouth, so much more clarity, definition and details. Thank you for this.
I prefer the AT4033. Having owned two since they were released in 1991ish. I also have vintage u67, km86i, AT4060, AT4050, Rode Classic II, Rode TF-5 pair (my new favorite instrument mic....beats Vintage KM86i), Warm U87r2, wa-251, wa-67, and WA47). My all around fav is 4033 (at least the vintage ones, when the components were more discreet). And listening here it is clear that all the 40 series just shine compared to the AT20 series. Inside the AT40 series you'll find top quality polypropylene/polystyrene and Nichicon Muse caps...which may be part of the reason for the shine.

My dream mic is the AT4040. I have the at2020 now and i think upgrading to 4040 is really a win win
Brother is the signal working fine. I use it with m track solo the input signal is very low has to increase gain knob upto 9.5/10 to be able to record.

I had an AT2020 for years and upgraded to the AT4040 3 years ago and I could tell a huge difference.. not the highest quality but a lot better than the 2020. I run it through the GAP PRE-73 MKII > ART PRO VLA II > interface.. works great for my bedroom studio
Also, acoustic treatment on the walls is a huge improvement too. It helps get better recordings with less reverb and helps you mix better
the 4040 is an killer sleeper mic, easy to EQ and to mix. I have one and I'm glad I kept it, on some vocal it wins over my tlm103 and my telefunken ak47.

@@prod.trenchy6362the tlm 103 is a horrible vocal mic… the telefunken is a great vocal mic but I can see how the 4040 can beat it out at times, I chose the 4040 over some of the most expensive mics out there, you can use mic technique with the 4040 to get THAT sound you’re looking for… try that with other mics and all I can say is good luck with that lol

I do rock vocals. Maybe a little screaming from time to time, but usually only in bridges etc. etc. I’m getting ready to do a small home set up and is thinking about either getting the lewitt 240 or 440. What kind of vocals would you say this mic is good for in your opinion 🤔
@@feedthewolf6930 4040,,, it’s really really really good on screaming vocals for some reason… 4050 is great for it aswel… found the lewitts to be to harsh
From the lower budget to the higher ones, I could hear the highs are smoother in the more expensive ones but honestly, I could barely tell the difference between the 3 expensive ones😂 Anyways man, I love all your videos like usual! Keep making them❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

I just bought a 4040 it's shipping to me ATM! I had a 4047sv but sold it like a dummy. It was awesome! I hope the 4040 is as awesome which I feel it will be bomb for me especially when using the a few Plugins during tracking my vox,😁

I have large expensive speakers ,I loved 2035 more than 4040, afterwards I looked on the spec and the amplitude response response was better on 2035 :)

Thanks for the review.. Compensated review? Having to Assume so since you didn't compare with others brands, but you should inform us. I do think your mics (most of the time) might have sitting too high up, but occasionally it was near straight on though. I once had the AT2035, but traded it off, and kinda missed it on some songs, but I just received a new AT4040 (on sale) and believe its noticeably better than the AT2035, much twice as good as the AT2020.
You have a great voice but you can change the staggered singing style & sing normally I think!

I bought AT2020 using it with M audio m track solo interface but the input signal is too low has to increase gain knob upto 9.5 point to record vocal. Phantom power is ON. No issue with BM800 Microphone, only issue with AT2020. Please help if it is my AT2020 issue so that i can return it before the return policy ends. Thank you.

AT4050 has that slight boost in the low end that i really enjoy, but $200 extra for that when the AT 4040 can just be EQ'd to sound like that too? i'm not sure what they were after when they made the 4050. it's like such a marginal difference that people are going to EQ anyway
I had the 4050…loved the tone but wanted more clarity after a while…Nuemann was too sharp vocally to me and lacked the AT tone I like…the Telefunken TF51 has that AT tone but with Nuemann type clarity without the harshness to me…sounds so great…im done mic searching!…that running thru a tube comp and tube preamp just sounds so warm…
The multiple polar patterns is what hikes the price, you can use the 4050 on anything, a choir, a drumset, a horn section, etc.
