    Right up until Jeff said "The winner of survivor... Michele" I was thinking "how do I explain to my non survivor watching friends how this nerdy girl with glasses is one of the best winners of this game"
    I'm not a very expressive person, but my mouth dropped open when Aubry didn't win.

    • @GroundScarecrow

      Gv Athvaidh me too i was with my family when it happend i could not tell them how Michele won because even today after years I'm still confused.

    • @TheBetterAdultProject
      @TheBetterAdultProject 6 лет назад +54

      Agreed! I thought there was no way Aubry was making it to the final and then she did and I was so stoked that someone who totally deserved it was going to win. Could not believe it when Michele won. But Aubry pissed a couple of cocky guys off on the jury. And they liked Michele. It definitely keeps Survivor interesting, but I wish there was some way of making sure casting only got people on Survivor who were logical voters at the end. If someone deserves to win, they should win. But I guess it's also what keeps it interesting, the emotional side of Survivor.

    • @gva9947
      @gva9947 6 лет назад +62

      The Better Adult Project The frustrating part is Aubry didn't even do anything to piss those guys off. And Michele had no social bonds with them. I remember Michele being pissed off with Jason at the zoo reward. Their egos just couldn't handle being outplayed by a nerdy girl. They thought they were invincible with their super idol and Aubry dismantled them.

    • @TheBetterAdultProject
      @TheBetterAdultProject 6 лет назад +10

      Totally. She was just better than them. Maybe it was because she convinced Tai to vote against them? It's been a while since I watched that season so can't remember all the details, but it was so disappointing for me when Aubry lost.

    • @LilannB
      @LilannB 6 лет назад +14

      The Better Adult Project Tai totally back stabbed Scot and Jason and blew up their games and Aubry was the person who convinced him to do it.So Tai put two enemies of his and Aubry on the jury. Jason and Scot were never going to vote for Tai or Aubry. Aubry also got Debby voted off. Neal an original Brain member and ally of Aubry was removed from the jury.Michele did enough to win. She also won individual immunity while Aubry didn't and Michele had no enemies on the jury.

    Interesting thing about Tony and Sarah: their collective story arc could be that of a rookie and veteran cop depiction. Cagayan had her as the eager rookie to his hardened veteran. People also forget that despite Phillip being Boston Rob's goat in his first season. I think he legit could have won Caramoan because he was the ringleader the whole time. It took Malcom's two idols and an immunity necklace to get Phillip out in season 26. Easily one of the most improved survivors ever, and would have indeed been a shocking winner.

    I think Adam winning was obvious tho, especially edit wise and he was pretty much garunteed the win the minute he brought up his sick mother, not that he needed to, he probably would have won regardless. Not to be a jerk but I have a feeling that a small part of him in the back of his mind he was like "if I bring her up it might get me some sympathy votes". I'm not saying that his speech wasn't genuine but it just seemed a little too convenient that he just mentioned his mom in the middle of an important vote.

    Gonna write it before you reveal yours:
    1) Michelle - didn't see this one coming at all, producers gave her an invisible edit, with Aubry getting the winner's edit
    2) Natalie in Samoa - simply because Russell got the big chunk of airtime, the leader of the comeback alliance
    3) Jenna in Survivor Amazon - very unlikely winner even up until the end, thought she got the spoilt girl edit
    4) Parvati in Micronesia - feels odd writing this down, felt that Amanda would win especially after the big idol play against Alexis, plus she didn't piss off any jury members
    5) Sophie in South Pacific - I don't actually feel too surprised by this, just that so much airtime had been given to the two veterans I figured one of the them will win. But personally if I were in that jury I probably would have voted Sophie too.

Then when Kathy fell and Neleh made the offer to Vecepia to take her instead of Kathy to end the challenge, Vecepia went back on her deal, she made with Kathy at the prior tribal council and took Neleh...probably because deep down, she thought Kathy would beat her for the million and Neleh wouldn’t. @MariaThePotterNut 3 года назад +6

    I feel like I'm one of the few people that was actually rooting for Natalie going into the end. Because while yes Russell played a near perfect game, he forgot he was playing with humans, not chess pieces. Natalie was the one playing to social game for both of them, as well as steering a number of Russell's decisions, while letting him think they were his own ideas, laying low and not getting attention on herself, negative that could lead others to dislike her or positive that could paint her a threat. Somehow she managed to cover Russell's ass socially so well he never got a single vote against him till after the merge, and then only on two episodes, when he was a clear threat, she somehow would point people in other directions, just to let it all blow up in his face with the jury. She used how people underestimate the "young girl" just to take to the end as an easy win, and used it against both of the others. And she was a nice person, a pretty good person. And Mick was just sorta entitled and dismissive and was talking down to Natalie, he rubbed me the wrong way for a lot of the show. I was happy to see her win.

When it came down to it at the end all tge jury remember was how fun the guy was to be around and how he played tge game full force from the beginning. I felt there were actually no really GREAT players in Millenials vs GenX. All 3 of the finalists found themselves at the outs at some point, rode coattails at some point, burnt bridges at some point. I guess in the end Hannah just gave people an annoying vibe, while Ken gave the impression that he wasn't really playing the game in terms of strategy. Adam made himself someone to root for in the end (the story probably helped) plus he had always been the most vocal and stand-up about his game, which gave him the edge.

    • @4Tom4lepus4
      @4Tom4lepus4 6 лет назад +1

      But wasn't Ken a huge mess during premerge? I'm not entirely sure, but I remember him blowing up at someone and endangering an alliance and vote that would keep him and his allies safe.
      Also, I don't think Hannah had a chance. She actually had a good FTC imo, but she was effectively playing for second place. I mean, she took charge in two votes: Sunday - which cannot be argued as anything other than Hannah removing the one person that people would prefer to drag to the end over her, and David - which is too little too late.
      Adam's move didn't always work out but the jury probably blamed themselves for it. Sort of like with Sandra on HvV. She tried to get Russell out, Adam tried to get David out, but both failed bc the jurors didn't go with it when they probably should have. I don't see it as a sympathy vote but rather a vote based on social game and the "should have worked with him" thing.

    IN DEFENSE OF NATALIE WHITE:
    She had to deal with Russell's antics the entire season and was smart enough to ALIGN with him instead of trying to target him. She was intuitive enough to see much quicker than most that anyone who targeted Russell went home. On top of that, she was the mastermind of the Erik vote, which was UNDOUBTEDLY the turning point of the game. She alone convinced the Galu girls to flip, which is the sole move that catapulted the Foa Foa 4 to victory.
    Russell pissed off every single person on the jury and very few of them respected his gameplay.
    To me, Natalie's win is so important to the series, and also one of my favorites of all time. She literally played one of the smartest games in Survivor history, and was a master at understanding how to deal with someone like Russell. She is one of my favorite people to ever win, and in my opinion, her win brings Samoa from a bottom 10 season to a top 10 season. Disagree all you want, but Natalie owned that season in the quietest way possible, and in many ways, staying quiet and under the radar was ESSENTIAL to her victory.
    And the scene where she kills a rat? Literally one of my favorite scenes in the entirety of Survivor.

    • @4Tom4lepus4
      @4Tom4lepus4 6 лет назад +6

      Y E S! Natalie proved that the social aspect is still the most important thing in a social game. And she made moves, such as flipping the majority against Erik, so they would no longer have the numbers to split the votes. That allowed Foa Foa to move forward in the game.
      Russell on the other hand burned every bridge he crossed, for no reason. He had no social game at all, and that's why he lost. And Natalie said from the beginning that she would align with someone like Russell who has no social game. Under the radar game is soooo underrated!

      Alison Tatman LOL? Natalie literally hung onto Russell the entire season. Russell did everything in Samoa. Even if she hadn't caused the Erik blindside, Russell still would've bounced back. The only reason she won is because of a bitter jury, and in this case, they voted incorrectly. She is no where near a top player. She was a goat.

    • @AllRequired
      @AllRequired 5 лет назад +1

      Further to this point, she was actually forced to play at the absolute bare bones Dick and Jane level. Dealing with Russell required a skill set seen in very few contestants before or since. If she had attempted to play in any other way that season, the crosshairs would have been on her faster than she could twitch her eye (as they were on Marisa, Betsy, Laura, and Monica). Hate her all you want, but she understood exactly what was required of her exactly when it was required of her.

      I always like to point out that in the merge episode, when it was 8-4, it was Natalie who made the comment that the majority alliance was big enough to blindside one of their own, and that idea caught fire. The move would fracture the 8, now down to 7, and Russell was able to do the work.

      well according to his ponderosa interview (which admittedly might be biased in his favor), he definitely would've won...If he got to the end. Although to be fair, a LOT of people would've won if they had gotten to the end. It's kind of the point of voting them off before they get to the end.

    What about Tina from The Outback? Colby was the clear cut deserving winner of that season.

    • @plentyofmagoes1143
      @plentyofmagoes1143 2 года назад

      I don’t know. In watching Australia and looking at some of the press it seemed like Tina was seen as a strategic force and Colby was more of a physical force. I would say the edit made it seem more like a close call than people say.
      I think Richard was more of a surprise than Tina as a winner at the time. He was referred to as Darth Vader in his season. It’s not exactly what one would expect from the first winner of survivor.

      Adam had the sob story yes, but he also orchestrated so many of the big moves that kept him in the game he played the best strategic game in that season by far... i even thought that it was an all time strategic game until officer sarah the next season..

      I feel like the sob story wasn't the actual reason he won. Before he even mentioned it, Chris had congratulated him on winning and the whole jury seemed like they were going to vote for him anyways.

      Ellis Metcalfe You can’t use CBS All Access the normal way outside of the US sadly. I lived in the UK before. It was tough. You’ll have to either stream, download, but the show online, or get a VPN to trick your computer into thinking it’s in the US. I would google it.

    I was't shocked by Michelle's win at all. The edit was there for her win. You could see both Tai and Aubry's games crumble near the end. It was clear Michelle had many friends and supporters on the jury. She belongs on this list as there was some question to if she won before the reveal, but it wasn't the shock of the century to anyone who paid close attention.
    Sophie was surprising because she got a terrible edit. More importantly she wasn't going to win until her performance at final tribal council. According to Ozzy most people were going to vote for Coach until he had a meltdown at the FTC. He didn't own up to anything and Sophie crushed him. I began to suspect he lost near the end.
    Natalie W. was surprising at the time, but re watching the season it's clear why she won. I blame most the shock on once again, the edit. Russell Hantz dominated screentime and made appear everyone else was simply there for the ride. They barely showed any relationships being built by Natalie which made people like her so much.
    You were shocked Adam won? Come on, the guy had a story written all season. David wasn't going to beat him had they both made it. Sorry man, but this shouldn't be anywhere near the top 5.
    Tony and number 1? Look it was clear Tony was always going to be in the finals. I'll admit I thought Woo stood a chance at winning, but Spencer made it clear he was going to argue for Tony's win so it wasn't a shock. I was 60-40 going in to FTC, favoring Tony. Tony was far more well liked than Russell and worked with everyone. While he did betray many people Woo seemed to always go along with this so he wasn't clean either. Not taking Kass to the end and taking Tony to the end clearly shocked the jury and not in a good way. It only reinforced the perception that Woo was Tony's lackey and couldn't think for himself.

      It took a lot of deeper observation to figure out why the votes went that way, but they made sense. On any other season, chances are she would have come off as a queen bee and been an early boot.

    Jeremy, in season 31. Spencer was such a intelligent,strategic and thought deeply about every single action in the game. Then in the final three, Jeremy played the stupid sympathy vote( his wife being pregnant ).

      Wrong. Jeremy was obvious winning. The jury hated Spencer and he played a piss poor social game. The jury revealed that Jeremy still wins in a landslide if he had not revealed his wife’s pregnancy.

    Good video PerPer, here is my top 5 with somewhat complex explanations:
    5. Cochran - This season as a whole felt pro-Cochran. He was untouchable. Everyone loved Cochran. Including production lol. But jokes aside I actually thought Dawn did a really good job during the final tribal that she might barely beat him. This is low because at the end of the day, like I said, everyone loved Cochran.
    4. Natalie White - I mean, the reasons speak for themselves, but I was actually happy Russell lost. I couldn't stand him throughout the season and I was expecting the worst and this was a nice ending. It's like how Paul lost the last season of BB to Josh. Poetic Justice.
    3. Mike - Honestly from the final tribal Mike's edit looked pretty bad. It seemed that people weren't impressed with him game considering that auction snafu and Rodney's rage. I even remember his answer to Tyler's question that he hasn't done anything to win. But I guess that's the editors pretty much fooling me and he won pretty decisively. I did expect Mama C to get more votes than she actually did.
    2. Sophie - Not taking away anything from Sophie's win, but Coach was responsible for some of the most important moves of the season. He essentially saved Edna during the pre-merge, having her in his back pocket. Used religion to manipulate Brandon to have him in his back pocket, and the most important is entrancing Cochran to join Upolu. Sophie winning wasn't so much her game, but also how Coach completely botched his final tribal council.
    1. Michelle - Her edit wasn't all there in terms of crucial moments, and what Aubry managed to pull off with Tai was downright impressive. Seeing how Scott and Jason acted towards her was a downright sucker punch. I don't hate Michelle because it is a game at the end of the day, but honestly she may be in the bottom of my winner rankings, alongside Bob.
