  • Review of my new speedo / gas gauge on the 1200T. My GoPro didn't pick it up real good but I was able to see the display great with no glare while driving. Highly recommend it!!!

    Loved what you did, do you have a write up or info on how you added the function switch on the handle bar and how you added the fuel gauge? Thanks.

    My Sportster only has a 3.3 gallon tank. I always thought Harley didn't put them on bikes with smaller tanks because they doubted their accuracy. What an absolutely beautiful bike you have!! Thanks for the video and RSMF.

      +Tom Bousquet Thanks for watching Tom. You can definitely get the speedo for your bike. There is an option in the settings to change the tank size and the 3.3 was one of them. The sensor that you install in the tank has 4 contact points for fluid. Those will make it very accurate. You can also get the brake fluid reservoir option as well for your bike.

    i have previously installed the brake cylinder mounted fuel gauge and just bought this gauge. gonna have to twist wires together to fit into both into 1 harness for the resistor?

    I think you forgot to do the review. Do you like it? Is it hard to see? Is it good at night? Do you like the digital read? Etc etc

    I know this is an old video - but doing the fuel kit install with my Dad this upcoming weekend - Dealer wants 350 just to install, we have the speedo/tach and fuel parts already. When I bought the bike it didn't come with a service or bike manual - Though I did download one from online. But we found the Instructions for the fuel kit a little vague - for a novice how hard was the fuel kit install? The speedo we can do ( lol plug and play). looking from input on someone that did it - wondering if we should just pay dealer.

      How did it went? Can you give your opinion about the gear indicator? Planning on also buying and installing this speedometer.

    I installed this item on my 04 RK classic, it worked fine for the past 5 years--however a few days ago, while I was out for a ride the ABS light came on, never did the light come on in the past--as you may know the 04 RK does NOT ABS equipment on board to begin with, has anyone ever heard of this problem before?--thanks in advance

    Thinking about doing this myself, nice work. Curious, what do you do about your odometer and the miles you have already accumulated when starting with the new gauge? Does it need to be programmed somehow to show correct mileage?

    • @harleydave2316
      @harleydave2316  8 лет назад

      You can totally do this yourself. The odometer info is stored in your computer. When I plugged in the new one, it saw that info on it's own. Thanks for watching!

    Hi ! Really good vid David, how much dit the new speedo and gas gauge cost ? Moreover, you probably should have done a close up (zoom) on the new speedometer because we dont see it very well. Thanks for your vlogs, keep on. Enjoy.

      Thanks for the response. The speedo and sensor ran about $500 with me installing myself. I really need a new gopro. I just have the 3 white version and it doesn't focus well at all. :(

    Unbelievable... As soon as I started watching this I thought to myself, God that looks just like Country Club Road, sure enough it was. You rode across Sugar Creek, past the old Todd Farm, up Trailer Court Hill, and thru The Cox Addition, my old stomping grounds. Where you made the right corner and onto Cox's Pond dam, if you had made a left into the woods you would have rode past the house I grew up in. Crawfordsville will always be 'home' to me.

    48 MPG times 4.5 gallons=216 mile range. Watch odometer and get gas every 150 miles to be on the safe side. To each their own though.

    Hey, I had the dealer install this, it looks great, but the fuel gauge keeps saying either full or empty (when it's neither). The dealer told me it would take a while to "calibrate". I'm a bit worried there is something else wrong. Did your fuel gauge work right away, or did it take a bit for it to correctly register your fuel level?

    • @ozzyrios.560

      Does the Combo speed gauge come with the sensor or do you have to buy the sensor?

    • @ErikR1979
      @ErikR1979 3 года назад

      @@ozzyrios.560 The fuel sensor was a separate purchase. And mine the dealer installed a faulty sensor/float, once they put in a new one it worked perfectly. It was about $1000 CAD to install everything. Well worth it.

    I have the 2014 SuperLow. I see they still don't put a gauge on even in 2021. Harley would sell a boat load of bikes if they just included this feature. M

    You own a sportster, thats why. Sportsters have a fuel tank with a gallon reserve. When reserve hits fuel up, the reserve is the red light that says fuel up now. Or get a bike thats not a starter bike. Sportsters are for beginers and women.

    • @harleydave2316
      @harleydave2316  6 лет назад +6

      Sportsters are for people who want to ride them. Thanks for watching!

      I don't disagree with you. I started riding a different way and ended up switching to a Fat Bob, which I absolutely love. It is my opinion that in 2017, there is no reason not to put a gas gauge on any bike. That is just dumb in my opinion. Again, I appreciate you watching...

    • @shawnberry7116

      First off a Sportster is a bike for those that don't need a bike to compensate for something else haha. Second mine has a 4.5 gallon tank. Third I put 6000k miles on it over a few months this summer riding thru several states no problems. Are there bigger more comfy/costly bikes? Sure. Will a 1200C get the job done and be a great bike for all purpose? Sure can be if you set it up right. As far as the fuel gauge goes, I would love to have that speedo for the tach and gear indicator looks snazzy, but wonder if it still has a low fuel light (1 gallon left)? If so I don't think I would shell for the fuel gauge or waste time installing it, mainly because I ride anywhere now without one, the light is a good reminder to start thinking and if you use your A or B trip meter and fuel by milage vs a gauge you will be fine. I admit the miles to empty is a nice touch, not sure if it's worth the extra bread and hassle installing it tho personally. Haven't ever ran out yet myself doing it by mileage.

    I know that from the top of the tank to reserve it's approx. 120 miles , And save myself 450 dollars .
