How to Configure and Setup the Harley Davidson Speedometer Tachometer

In this video I show you how to configure and setup the Harley Davidson Speedometer Tachometer part #70900070A. The speedometer/tachometer is installed on a 2009 Harley Davidson Softail Custom. I did not include setting the clock, because it is not part of the main setup mode. The following color chart was used to choose and select colors:
000-015 Red
016-030 Amber (Orange)
031-060 Yellow
061-100 Yellow/Green
101-180 Green
181-250 Green/Blue
251-350 Blue
351-380 Blue/Violet
381-440 Violet
441-490 Pink
491-525 Red
526-600 White/Light Colors

Cool video, you can go backwards and forwards through the colour numbers by using/holding down the left indicator to go back and the right indicator to go forwards :)
So cool ! , this came stock on my 09 fat boy. Bought this bike last year put on over 12,000 miles and a set of tires since Ive had it. I had no clue about the color changes. Should have went to bed a long time ago but I had go to the garage and play with it. Thanks so much for the vid!!!

Thanks for your video. Just installed this today on my 2009 Heritage. Your instructions were much easier to follow than the printed ones. Took it for a 32 mile ride to lock it in. All functions work as described and like it much more than the factory speedo. Ride safe
Thanks again for the install video, I put the speedo in myself in 10-15 minutes. Couldn't find the main fuse on my '04 Heritage and was too lazy to go inside for the shop manual, installed live, no problems. Tomorrow set clock, colors, etc. thanks for all the help, it gave me much confidence

I have a 2003 Softail Fat Boy. I want to install a meter like this for it, but the plug is different. Do you have any idea about this and is there a part ready for the electrical connection?
Great videos. Very well done and easy to understand!! I need to replace the speedometer of my Road King Classic 1998 FLHRCI (odometer damaged). Could you recomend me a similar part that will fit it? Will it be possible to get tachometer and gear indicators working on it? It´s a five speed gear (not six like the new ones).
Can the gear selection show a 5spd or is that a different gauge?

Hi. Whenever I try to go into set up mode it goes into DIAG mode to pull codes. I tried the turn signals as well as the trip button.
My gas gauge is not registering on the new tac/speedometer after setup it still shows empty.. Everything else works. I have an 05 night train... Any thoughts?
Never mind, after a little more research I figured it out.
With the bikes that have the trip button on the handlebars there is a different button sequence.
You have to use the turn signal buttons to get in. I may post a setup video for the new bikes, if I get any request.

I just got a 2014 CVORK, does the gear indicator work in all gears or just 6, also i have not played with my speedo yet but will today.
Guys I figured out a problem I was having with the combination speedometer tachometer using a drag specialties flush mount gas gauge. The combo is not compatible with these gauges. You have to use your original gauge and a dummy gauge. You take apart the original gauge including all of the mounting hardware metal dial etc. using then using electrical tape wrap the entire thing up and stuff it in the space where the gauge would go. Put your dummy cap on and your fuel reading now will be correct. Getting the chrome off the original fuel gauge is the hardest thing to do everything else is simple. Works like a charm
I forgot to mention that the problem I was having was that my fuel gauge on the combo speedometer tachometer was reading empty. Now it shows the correct reading.

I have a new wide glide , will this show what gear I am in with the trip info ?
Weird thing, I have an 05 road king, and speedo shorted out after washing it. I bought this same tach, but the model # ends with B instead of A. Same thing except for there is no KPH on MPH. I followed the install and data link to a T, and when I would ignition I'd get a NO CAL in the LCD, and then that would go away, and it was replaced with NO SPD. It would not transfer the odometer to the new odometer. I'm thinking that if your speedo stopped working, replacing it with this type of Speedo will not work due to the inability to transfer odometer reading of a broken speedo to the new speedometer. I can't find anyone with an answer to this.
I thought this might be an issue, as the old speedo was as if it wasn't there because IT WAS BROKEN (insert Sam Kinison Tirade). Our shop service guy in Folsom checked with the mechanic, and "it's okay, just follow the directions." Engine switch on, Data Link plugged in, no go! I had the old speedo out, and was tapping it and banging it slightly, and I saw LED partially show numbers, they would immediately dim if I stopped squeezing the old gauge. Thinking the ecm possibly sensed the old speedo after doing the Fonz bang and tap on the old speedo, which seemed to allow some juice into it, so I did the transfer procedure again, and something did change this time as it just went to NO CAL, without going to NO SPD.
I'm assuming NO SPD means it isn't sensing a speedo. Well It stopped that, and the NO CAL shows. There is a red light blinking, but then after a bit the red light goes solid and stays on. But still it did not do the conversion. The trouble shooting guide for this particular NO CAL says, normal function, but ads as long as "percentage and ok" show, which they don't. I went ahead and plugged the new speedo into the consul to see if something happened, and the new speedo lit up beautifully, but with NO CAL or something I forget. But no odometer transfer. I'm wondering if I should ride it and go through that 31 mph countdown the document spells out.
I'm going back down to get a speed sensor. Apparantly, it could be that issue if the signal lights don't cancel, for one sign. With the bike just leaning on the stand, it doesn't cancel. Somebody said I had to at least lean it or move the steering for it to cancel, which I haven't done. So, I'll check for cancellation leaning and turning the bike. With all the forums out there only about 4 of these issues are on the net, and none of those who had the problem explained how they solved it. These speedo combo's don't work if your replacing a broken one. They should explain this, as there is no refund for them. They seem to only work if you are upgrading. I need to get the odometer reading back, as I'm selling. Any ideas?

I've added one of these to my 2012 wide glide. the trip reset is on the bars. Everything works correctly but I can't get it into setup mode. I can set the clock, but that is it. Any ideas where I went wrong?

I bought a bike with a TTS Mastertune and this speedo installed. Attempting to unlock the ECU fried it so I had to order a new one. Now my odometer displays 999999km / 213711mi. Is there a way to fix this? I'm guessing not.

I installed this item on my 04 RK classic, it worked fine for the past 5 years--however a few days ago, while I was out for a ride the ABS light came on, never did the light come on in the past--as you may know the 04 RK does NOT ABS equipment on board to begin with, has anyone ever heard of this problem before?--thanks in advance

Yes. You can change it as often as you like. Follow original setup.
I have a 2015 road king, same looking speedometer but I have no side button like yours , what or how can I change mine?
If you haven't found it or for other people's reference - put it into ACC then press both indicator levers.

Not sure, but from what I have seen it seems accurate, and I haven't heard of any complaints.

How do you change from miles per hour to kilometers or vice versa?
Mph & km/h Speedos have different faces on the dial. It's not like the Victory Speedo that can be switched electronically.
I just installed one on my 2007 Softail Custom and the gear indicator does work.....
very cool man, I have a 07 Custom and want to install it for ID like to have a tach, just to make sure I dont blow the motor, it be nice to know where she is at as far as the redline goes. Do you find the speed section is too small. I like the larger size of mine and considered just getting a standalone small rpm gauge
Do you loose the actual miles shown on the bike in the speedo?
The bikes info is uploaded to the new speedometer, so nothing is lost.
