Thank you Tony, you answered the question I have. I had already bought this unit from Harley, and yes it's pricey, almost $380 with tax & shipping. After reading the instructions, I was unsure about the gas gauge so I put the whole deal on the back burner 'til I figured out what I was going to do about the fuel gauge. You answered that problem for me, I agree with you, on a Sportster I don't really need it. Thx again Tony for all the great videos.

Well. I changed out my front headlight watching your video. And it worked out really well. So now it looks like I can handle changing out my speedometer. Great videos! They really help. Plus, saves me some money doing it myself.

Thats neat. Id like it to go from a cool color like green or blue to red when it gets closer to redline.
I have this speedo combo with fuel sensors on my 2013 sportster 883 and I am very happy with it money well spent

Just ordered one, will skip the fuel sensor for now. I always reset the trip meter when I fill up, so I know when I am close. Looks like a nice modern upgrade, I always like to know the rpm too.
I have this gauge on my 2016 883 Superlow. I installed the fuel sender unit in my tank myself. It is a pain but if you are patient you will get it done. The only hard part is carefully maneuvering things out and then back into the tank bottom. The benefit is that you have a four bar fuel gauge in the upper left of the LCD screen. The cool thing is that when the fuel indicator light on the fuel gauge comes on it switches the lower readout on the LCD to an estimated range in distance that you have left in fuel. The light will come on before the regular fuel dummy light because of this. The range estimation seems to be somewhat dynamic as it will change slightly based on whether I am riding hard and fast or just putting along. It might not be necessary but it is something all bikes ought to come standard with these days. In short, I think it was well worth the money and effort.

I have the 2014 SuperLow. I see they still don't put a gauge on even in 2021. Harley would sell a boat load of bikes if they just included this feature. M

How do you swap between readouts? I have the speedo and fuel sensor on the way for my 07 1200c and it doesnt have a function button.
Hey Tony! I just bought this gauge for my 48. Do you happen to know what Allen key size to remove the 2 screws from the back to remove the stock Speedo? Or is it some other kind of screw? I have a standard and metric set but they are either too big or too small to fit. Hope you can help thanks!
Can I install this Odometer on my 2005 Sportster xl1200c ? Will it show "Speed" and "Tachometer" reading both?
I thought new motorcycles might have extra wiring coming out of engine that shows "Tachometer" reading, that previous harley davidson models are not equiped with.

The new speedo is the 70900100C or the 70900475 ? HD's site doesn't say anything about them to know the difference and both supposed to fit the 2016
Came in the mail today, installed in about 10 minutes tops. Much nicer to look at over the stock unit. Kinda hard to believe HD would put that old one on a bike that costs 15K.
How do i sync the data for the odometer from the old one to the new one?
I installed this item on my 04 RK classic, it worked fine for the past 5 years--however a few days ago, while I was out for a ride the ABS light came on, never did the light come on in the past--as you may know the 04 RK does NOT ABS equipment on board to begin with, has anyone ever heard of this problem before?--thanks in advance

Important! One thing that is not in the instructions is the fact that during daylight the LCD lights are white only. No matter what colors you choose in setup, it will always revert to white during daylight and bright sun. Then as the sun goes down and it starts getting dark then the LCD lights will change to the colors you chose.

A quick question, just installed it and it was a breeze, did check it out so everything works just havent done the set up yet with different colors, so my understanding is to enter set up is pressing both turn signals?? then right turn signal to toggle between but what about save its both turn signals again and how to exit from set up

Your best bet is to check the directions. It is different for certain models years. With mine to exit the set up I just turned the bike off and on again.

Good vídeo! Are the rpm only analogue? Or I can watch it on the digital as well, I say that because rpm for me are important, and the analogue is cool but only shows increases of 200 rpm... I have a Dyna do u know if the fuel kit is also required for the Dyna? Thanks

Tony, great video! I'm riding a 2017 Iron XL883N. You mentioned that you did not install the optional fuel gauge kit. Do you know whether that optional fuel gauge kit would work with an 883? I'm only seeing one type of fuel level gauge for the 883 Sportster Fuel Gauge Kit - 75031-09 and it requires a Electrical Connection Kit P/N 72673-11. I have heard mixed reviews about how well it works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Tim, the fuel gauge kit personally seemed a big hassle to install. I heard the same mixed reviews about it also. I found it easy to log trip miles and gas up at 120.
How do you turn the fuel portion off? I just installed this on my Forty-Eight, and I'm not seeing fuel indicator as a toggle option while in ACC, but when I start the bike it's on.

Why does the harley website say
"Does not fit XL883 models equipped with Screamin’ Eagle® 1200cc Stage I Conversion Kit" why wouldn't it fit?

This was on a used bike I bought. How can I change from km to mph? This changed when I installed a new battery.

Tried it in my 05 sporty. It said Vin Error. Went back to HD and got another one and said the same thing. Not to sure what's up with my bike.

We tried to install this on my sons 883 and the new speedo says No CaL. Not sure whats wrong with it.

Don’t know where is the problem with mine! Same speedometer on a 48 of 2016 and it doesn’t work! I keep pressing the blinkers at the same time but all I get is the blinker switching on! Could it be a problem that I have changed the blinkers for aftermarket ones....... and maybe it’s doing a different thing because of that?? Or maybe on my bike you access to the menu a different way???
I would look up the Instructions online and see if the is a different process.
Might be a little late but if anyone is wondering, try holding the button in (on the rear of the speedo) while turning the key to acc position.

Hold trip and then turn key to accessory and then back to off and it’ll bring up all the mentioned options !

If you have the security system, you need to turn the Ignition switch off then press both blinkers. It won't let you enter setup when the ignition switch is on.

+Jeff Tilghman I do not have a pic of that I know it is a 4 bar readout and when your warning light comes on it give you a count down of miles. I will get you a part number.

Its a damn shame they dont make a mini gauge for these sportsters that dont cost a million dollars when i can get one of those china specials for mere pennies for my honda and it looks good and works all day long!

I believe you just push and hold the left turn signal to toggle

ElZer0 04 really never had any problems with fogging even with the stock one.

It does but it does require a fuel level kit that is sold separately.
Would this work on a 09 model and would the gear indicator work on it (IE does the info come from the ECU)???
What model bike do you have? They are listed on the Harley website and will give you all the specs for your year and model of Harley.

I got one installed at the dealership with the matched sending unit.
I got no fuel gauge . Didn't work .
Unfortunately for me the way Harley operates even tho they installed it I'm out the money for the sending unit and I'm not happy the fuel gauge don't work.
Worse yet after all the money I spent at the dealership.i was left hanging no refund no new unit . I bought it I got it appears to be Harley's moto.
The tack several time incomunicado with Harley tech no help.
I was beat.

No, it will just display what gear you are in while riding. The neutral light is in the light bar under the Speedo.
ok well mine burnt out,so i thought i could install this instead of changing the LED light bar!! o well
by the way just bought it today with the feul gage getting it installed in two days at a harley dealer in my area, so i guesse i will also buy and get installed the LED light bar
