@Mr. Variant He might have had a problem with that after he designed the Perfect Form. It did have fewer spots than the previous designs anyway, on the face and chest.
I think the pen was magical. This pen gave him extreme artistic powers and he created the best anime ever. Once he lost it. He lost his powers and is just a normal artist now. That or he really liked that pen.
Never underestimate the power of a pen, or a tool, or a pair of boots that fit your style perfectly, and the discomfort of losing it and changing to one that doesn't.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the actual reason. Toriyama, despite being extremely talented as both an artist and writer, has always been extremely lazy. The ssj was made to have blond/white hair so his assistant wouldn’t have to fill in the black hair. Saiyans also stopped growing back their tails because he got tired of drawing them.
@@_suko_3656 I mean Hirohiko Araki managed the same thing while arguably producing more elaborate art and stories which would take more time to do (and did it all without cutting corners like Toriyama did).
@@boneman9751 if you look at the old jojo stuff pre the series going monthly, way less of the art was detailed, it took til he went monthly for the series to look as good as it has done since partway thru sbr
@@emperortoho even then, both dragon ball and jojo’s has gone monthly. Araki released what many fans consider to be his magnum opus in both illustrations and writing in the form of part 7th. Toriyama has become almost completely hands off minus giving a sticky notes worth of detail to his apprentice and anime team. Araki’s skills as both an artist and writer has only improved throughout his time writing and his work clearly shows. Many fans of the series consider super to be a disgrace with awful writing.
We need to make another model of the same pen with the same materials and same weight with all other similar properties, WE NEED TO GIVE HIM HIS PEN BACK, WE NEED THIS LEGEND.
well when you reach a certain level of awesome, you don't need to do certain things yourself anymore, you can let your little homies take over, your inspiration serves as their motivation

I didn't need to loose my pen to loose my will to draw... I lost my girlfriend... it really sucks when someone you loved for 4 years dies and you're not even halfway threw you own life yet. It sucks looking over at my work desk and thinking "i should draw something" but then just not being able too. A lot of people would think that this kinda thing is silly, but the more i hear this story the more I sympathize with Akira Toriyama. It's not easy to get used to life when something changes, weather it be small like your favourite pen, or big like a loved one. You loose a part of yourself you cannot get back, all you can do is change. Idk what Akira Toriyama is gonna do now, but i hope he finds happiness in it and that caries him for the rest of his life. The decision to stop doing something you based your whole life around is a big one.
