  • In the fall of 2016 the owners, managers and staff of a Kansas City Ramada Inn simply walked out. Leaving the guests to fend for themselves. What occurred was anarchy, death, a nationwide manhunt and destruction on a Biblical scale.

    Great work. I have shot there a few times, but you put in the work. I hope to get back 1 more time before its gone. They have torn the doors off again, so its wide open and Dangerous. Good times. I managed the arcade company that set the pool table and arcade games, my boss was not happy about the table and games.

    This hotel was actually opened in the 1970s. It was originally a Breckenridge Hotel. I worked there for 7 years in 1990s. My mother worked there for 20 plus years from the 70s to 2005. It is really sad to see what has happened to a once great hotel.

    I worked there from 1980 to 1995 in the kitchen with some great people. All of the banquets and restaurant functions, I will always hold those memories. Some good and some bad. I believe when the casino's started to come in near by it started a slow decline in revenue. There were a lot of people who fell into the gambling scene which offered more excitement than what Park Place Hotel could offer. The hotel was one of the few bars that had live entertainment. The issue with the sewage started in the early 90s but got worse. It really saddened me when I saw those horrible pictures of decay and destruction that some people with no respect for property caused. I viewed the implosion on the news. It was so sad because that was my first full time job over 38 years ago.

    I just watched a news report about it, there was a pick up truck in the swimming pool!!!!!
    That's an absolutely horrible story. If the owner was neglecting that place for that many years, not paying bills, & failing inspections, how did he keep the dump open so long?

    I stayed there in 2003. Was fooled by the pictures. Pulled up and first thing I saw was dead fish in the water and I knew Id made a mistake. One of the worst shit holes Ive ever had to stay in.

    Some of the destruction was done by employees, who, after not being paid in weeks, decided to loot the place to recoup some of their losses. Someone took the hotel van and loaded it with TV's from the rooms and absconded with it. Notice how there wasn't much broken dishware and such? Because it was taken as payment of wages. I think the employees should have taken more because it was due them.

      I often wondered how the employees may have dealt with the situation, now we know. Thanks

      @@srdkdowning An awful lot were just left with nothing. They hadn't been getting paid but quite a few stayed because they wouldn't abandon the guests who had paid for their stay. When notice finally came that they were officially closing the hotel some employees did their best to notify those with reservations that they would need to make other arrangements. It wasn't just guests, there were conventions and meetings on the schedule that all lost their deposits and had to rebook somewhere else on short notice..

    I have a story to tell! I stayed there in 2014 - it was haunted. I had the craziest paranormal experience while there. I have pictures, video, and a wild story. I know it was real because I was never scared and could not wait to get back there. When I did get back a year later, the hotel was deep in what I suspect was s*x trafficking. When I walked through the lobby, the staff looked at me as if I were a ghost and they acted like they weren't sure if they were even seeing me.

    Attended once or twice, they blew it the fuck up when they couldn't hire proper security to keep looters and squatters out of the place. Came in, threw everything left inside (that hadn't been smashed or stolen) away and demo started late June. You could feel the charges going off for at least 2 miles

    Did someone drive their car into the pool or was that just the bumper part of a car that someone threw in?

    • @srdkdowning
      @srdkdowning  5 лет назад

      Just the bumper. However, just prior to building being torn down someone parked a truck in the pool! 😂
