That's so cool, thanks for giving us a visual of D-Day, I'm so thankful for the bravery of all the ally soldiers that participated in the war. That was a turning point in history. It's so sweet seeing Scott parents. And I love the pictures at the end. Have fun on your vacation, and thanks for sharing.
Hi Sophie I have been watching you forever I have always admired your calmness with your boys it has been something that I always wish I could have obtained with mine however I have to tell you I really got a chuckle when Willie was on the side of that rock Mama Bear came out I really think you are a great mom I wish you and your family the very best I love all your videos God bless
Hi Sophia, thanks for the tour. Also, the corn is called 'sweet corn' in many places to distinguish it from 'corn' meaning any grain but specifically wheat. This was the historical name and is for example referred to in the taxation and trade tariff related Corn Laws of Britain in the early 1800's. I only mention it because I know how much you love history. 🙋🤗
Knight Designs the sweet corn is different from the field corn which is used for animal feed, ethanol, corn syrup, etc. We grow lots of it here in Iowa.
Yes I appreciate the difference between fodder corn and vegetable corn but the name difference came into being because before corn was introduced from St America corn was the word used for wheat. 🙋🏼
Thank you so much! I LOVE apples. I collect them (and eat them!) I love the covered bridge. Amazing how wonderful the country is. Makes me homesick!!! Love the video and the family.💖
That thick, firm husk and squeak of shucking that corn takes me back to my childhood summer days! Fun & interesting day all around - classically American. 😊
Great video!! Love it...glad you guys got to go back to Ohio.. I can relate with Scott, going back home it's not the same..alot of the old stuff not there no more.. I get to go home in September, Indiana..town called Kendallville..
Brought back a lot of childhood memories because I grew up in Bay Village, Ohio. We used to go to Conneaut Lake all of the time. Looks like you all had a great time together. Thanks for taking us along, really enjoyed seeing some familiar old places.
What a beautiful place Scott grew up in. Can't even look at the German uniforms in pictures! (Dad flew night flights over VIchy France during the war. Fear/hate of the wartime "Huns" seems to be in my DNA)
Welcome to Ohio!! I've lived here most of my life ... all-en but 11 years. I am 53 now. We did the D-Day reenactment a few years ago. It was phenomenal!
I’ve been diligently watching these Ohio videos. I’m originally from Northwest Ohio. I live in Arizona now and I haven’t been to Ohio for over three years now. I tell you, it’s been wonderful to watch these videos. I’ve felt so at home. You guys have a wonderful time visiting home. God bless, Jean from Arizona 😊
That was WONDERFUL! But it did make me homesick for my childhood home in a small N. central Illinois rural county, on the Illinois river. Architechture - identical, beautiful vintage homes, nicely maintained and although the original downtail commercial district may not be the same it still holds many fond memories.
that is GREAT jazz you're playing at the end....oh and Edward's shirt from the last vid made me LOL - "Make America Britain Again" hysterical -- looks like a wonderful trip you all had - thanx for sharing!
Did not know about this d day re-enactment. Very interesting. A great novel set during this time is The Baker’s Secret by Steven Kiernan. The French woman main character is a true heroine. Great book.
We love your videos! Thank you for sharing the family with us. Such a beautiful family to boot! Love the soldiers in their attire..and the food on your travels look delicious. We have several Perkin's restaurants and, also, a Dutch Pantry that we haven't visited for quite sometime. Your video reminded us we need to go to the Dutch Pantry. We are in Lewisburg, Pa and I think you were here at one time. I think I seen one of your videos or mention of our local candle shop. Thanks, again, for sharing! Jan & Melody
I heard Scott's dad say the St. Lawrence Seaway where the ships come from.....that is where I am from and I live on the beautiful St. Lawrence River. :)
I grew up in Columbiana County Ohio -- just south of Ashtabula County (now living in Florida). I love the "road trip" you took us on in this video. I feel exactly the same as Scott when he was describing how it felt to be back.....kinda sad.....but I'll be up there next week, so there's still no place like home (even if just for a visit). I used to be in baton corpse in high school and we performed at Conneaut Lake Park ....and I went to Cedar Point every summer, at least once. Thanks for the memories!
Thank you for sharing. My Great Uncle fought in that war as well as two others. Scott, I can relate to going back home and it’s all changed. The small ND town my family is from is the same. Main Street has grown quiet and the feeling just isn’t the same sadly. Awesome vlog.
I am so happy 😃 that you are having such a Wonderful vacation. It looks so pretty and so much fun. Have a Fantastic, safe Adventure. ❤️💜💕. Can’t wait to see what your lovely family is doing tomorrow.
So cool to see you all in my neck of the woods!! The Ashtabula Harbor area has really become very popular along with The Covered Bridge Festival and all of the great wineries making Ashtabula County a great place to live!!
Sophia, I am LOVING these videos! Thanks! I will be definitely plan on being in Ohio in August, the family is in Trumbull County, just an hour to Conneaut. When I was little, we had a cabin and would spend summers at Conneaut-on-the-lake, as they called it back then. :-)
Loved this! Thank you for sharing this! My dad would have loved to have visited that if he was still alive. He was a veteran and loved war history. His dad fought on WWII.♥️♥️♥️♥️
I really like your pictures. They make me smile! We just had sweet corn I cut off the cob because ~ Braces! With mash potato and chicken just last night! (no focaccia bread though) Ahh, midwestern carbs...gotta love 'em. ; ) And today I went thru the pantry and organized all the pancake mix and syrup, it's about 'That Time of Year!'
The reenactment is great My husband would really love that so maybe we can plan to go next year Willie scared me when he so close to the edge I actually said out loud Willie back up you are too close LOL moms will be moms Nice pics
I am originally from Michigan, so Ohio wasn't too far for us to go. We live in Texas now. I love going to reenactments. This looks like a very fun trip!
I just have to say that that purple hat and pink lipstick are perfect !!!!! We have a place just like Brant's by us, its called Ritters and they make cider as well as apple pies, apple tarts , hot apple donuts that you watch them make and you get them hot ! Yummmmm. Love this video.
Everything looks beautiful, well-kept, and quaint. The best way. I love small towns. Mine is not so nice. What was the flower in the hanging basket on the porch of Brant's? Lovely color. Would you be able to find out what color your Mother-In-Law painted her front door? Breathtaking! The "historic" homes you filmed are absolutely amazing. I sincerely hope you had a wonderful time as well as Scott, Willie, and Edward, and what is with the wind chimes? The young lady behind the girl talking was serious about her role. :) Regarding the reenactment, it was wonderful that we all came together for good and just. Your niece looks like your daughter. How lovely! You did well on the video. :)
My grandmother Stivenson lived in Ashtabula. I remember going to visit her every Sunday from Erie, PA. I don't remember what her address was, I was only 7 when she passed so it was over 50 years ago.

Oh my goodness!! I grew up going to Geneva-on-the-Lake every summer! I still have family in Northeast Ohio. It's a wonderful place to visit!
The jazzy piano background music reminded me of when Mr. Rogers went on “field trips.” Love it. 💗

Mary, native Buckeye here - NE Ohio - I love it there, too, but am in the south now, I'm not sure I can take your winters, tho'.
