Before you buy this motherboard or any other x870e mobo, make sure and READ the manual and check the options you will get. The info about M.2 slots that says on the video is not right at 8:38
    -2x PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 (disabling both USB4 ports)
    -2x PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2
    -1x PCIe 4.0 x2 M.2
    Or
    -1x PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2
    -1x PCIe 5.0 x2 M.2 (with both USB4 ports available)
    -2x PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2
    -1x PCIe 4.0 x2 M.2
Also, note that if you use the Xpander-Z M.2 Gen 5 or wherever the name is, it will share a bandwidth with the PCIe 5.0 x16 slot where the GPUs go and will get to x8 x8, meaning that the first PCIe 5.0 will run x8 as the second PCIe 5.0 will run at x8 too, because it’s CPU limits and cannot provide more than 24 PCIe usable lanes.
Note too the GPU will not limited if you don’t use the second PCIe slot in the motherboard, either way the design of the Xpander-Z M.2 it’s a great feature and I think can be use in a future for a long time.
Knowing this info I already had purchased this Motherboard because the others x870e mobos doesn’t meet my expectations (as ASUS), I can afford it and if you can go get it.

@@Joshua-pr9vgI know I won't, but in the future there's always the possibility. Even a 5090 likely won't suffer from 8 pcie 5 lanes so for some use cases you might prefer to use those lanes for pcie5 SSDs to keep your 40G USB. I am going to use 2 8TB WD Black Gen 4 sticks, so I won't be using the gen 5 slots in my initial build. The real world performance just isn't there yet for me. That thing costs $1,100 in the US. My pc that I built almost 4 years ago was $2,000. I can't justify spending more than $300 on a motherboard, let alone $1,100. For the vast majority of gaming-focused builds, a board this expensive is a complete waste.
I'm aware that $1,000+ graphics cards exist. At least with gpus, you get tangible gains in performance the more you spend. This concept doesn't really apply to motherboards. Other than better overclocking support, a newer chipset, and features like pcie 5.0, is there anything that an $1,100 board can do that a $250-$300 board can't?

It does look pretty sick, especially with 15 USB ports at the back! But I can already see potential issues with it. The complicated lanes halving with two of the five M.2 slots, one of them running at default at x2 instead of x4. The Expander card looks interesting, but already there will be issues with airflow/mounting with larger GPUs like the 4090, including vertical mounts. That side EZBridge also looks nice, but limits those of use who like to use Lian Li strimers (most of it will be hidden).
X870E feels like a chipset that is not actually an upgrade but more one which has significant tradeoffs simply due to the structural limits.

reminds me of the ROG CROSSHAIR X570E...thing is a monster and what i use currently. idk why i decided to go old generation but i got the thing about 16 months ago and even with how old it is was still worth like $800. Has all the bells and whistles especially for AM4. This is actually the first MSI board that i could see myself wanting, but nah i still prefer Asus.

Back in 2020 I got a z490 Godlike from MSI for for $750. I'll never buy another mobo for that insane of a price ever again lol. Honestly, I regret it. Cause it really lets the CPU perform at it's best possible, but do I want to get a lower end mobo for current gen processors? Not really, but again I really don't want to spend that much on another mobo.

I'm not sure how I feal about this one I think somethings could be better, what's the point of having ATX e motherboard if all your connectors rely one proprietary connector? that is so simply removable? MSI You might as well add a wire and move these ports to the backside of the case. It makes more sense this way! The arrangement and size vs practicality doesn't add up. also there's to many small flashy useless screens, why not add one really good one? with useful info like per core temps or 4k oled or something?. or even boot information! also the mate black paint job doesn't really make it look like anything special. I could buy some Doller store mate black spray paint in a can and turn up the same Finnish. Final thoughts do you need all these ports at the cost of impracticality? hopefully you not buying for looks alone! I was drawn to godlike boards in the past but for this one I may just go with the carbon this time around.

The past few months I have been watching sooo many videos including a lot of yours just to try n find the perfect case to fit this motherboard, a hopefully future-coming 5080 noctua x Asus card and the not-much-left-of-Q4-coming seasonic x noctua PSU 😅😊 very difficult!
Also moar difficult because the vrm screeny bit on the left might block an NHD15 g2 in a similar way the 2nd fan on that cooler limits ram height to 33mm 😢 because even though a board of this type deserves an open loop, I am a noctua and aircooling fangirl so this might be a deal breaker, so taichi or one of the others maybe.... And yup, ik ik its a nice problem to have but for my first ever build and after a lot of personal stuff in my life, making a system with this mobo would be lovely 😊

If you want a case for this board get the MSI Meg Prospect 700R, I'm rocking one myself and it's a fantastic case with excellent airflow, my only negative with the case is that for the money the fans they use are cheap s@it, so just use it till they go, then replace the fans.

@@Excalabur50 that's a interesting looking case but would benefit more either closed or open loop and I feel I'd like to do aircooling :) but thank you for the recommend, this case was not on my radar so I'll look at it more in depth
