I wish Goniloc hadn’t disappeared into the aether. Coolea is awesome and deserves all the love he’s been getting, but I miss the dulcet tones of that impossibly handsome skull. Always picked up some nice recommendations from his end-of-year recaps too. As for people I’m still watching now, it’s pretty much just you and Metal Music Theory, and occasionally Farvann or Myke C-Town if they make a video about something that already interested me. I do want to give a shout-out to Eddy Metal for putting out a handful of really well-produced opinion pieces and retrospectives before also disappearing off the face of the earth. (edit: and Noise Vortex too for putting out a fantastic video essay about DsO’s Furnaces album, then vanishing a few months later)
As far as promotional channels go, obviously Black Metal Promotion and OdiumNostrum are fantastic but people shouldn’t sleep on Mão da Glória or Rites of Pestilence. Particularly if you’re a fan of raw black metal. Those two channels are almost constantly uploading a ton of underground releases.

I also really enjoy the amoeba music channel. Sometimes I’ll even watch ones of bands I’ve never heard just because I enjoy hearing about their taste. I’ll go check out Dante dagger. Jimmy is hilarious, and Ken is good stuff. Got to finally meet Ken back in April. Dude thanks a lot for the mention! I appreciate it a lot. Yeah this collection series is ridiculous haha, I’m finally into the 3rd level of the rack, so I’m thinking we’re gunna be around 60 videos for the whole metal collection. I don’t even want to get into showing the other genres I have. 🍻

Your channel introduced me to a few "separate the art from the man" bands. And I'm very thankful for that! Still can't believe that BangerTV said the same about Marduk! 😅
I watch Mordant Rhed, Radio Free Innsmouth, and Justin Horval! In case you happen to give AF!! Oh, I forgot.. and Joaba, L Necron and Death Metal Podcast! Even Julian Gonzalez for his Brutal Death Metal picks!!

  • @murray9807

I like two Metal channels, Metal School which talks about some bands from the 80's and mostly talks about Speed, early Power Metal and some Glam. Also Ruthless Metal who does various countdowns and voting of albums which feels a little clickbaity but also does interesting videos on the history of metal and I would like to remark his latest video on bands who used classical paintings as cover art. Also if you speak Spanish I'd like to recommend FakitaTV who does very, really fuckring funny breakdowns rock and metal albums with tons of research and trivia, if you appreciate Argentinian humor you'll love it also some very interesting history videos always cracking wise.

Apart from yours Derekvon as I mentioned in another post somewhere. That mans knowledge is deep and he's also really thoughtful and intelligent and has introduced me to tons of new music. Pop Goes the 60s is another great one which makes really interesting documentaries about the 60s and the host really knows his stuff and is great to talk to and happy to answer any questions you might have. And then there's Noctilucent who's a really talented dark ambient musician. He has his own individual voice but I can promise any fans of Kammerheit or Sleep Research Facility or Iron Cthulhu Apocalypse will really like his stuff - a couple weeks ago he turned me onto an artist called Wilt. I also first heard of Gruntsplatter and Corvidae Cabal on his channel so I am in the mans debt for life. Toddintheshadows is freaking hysterical. His documentaries on albums on trainwrecks are funny beyond belief. He's almost as funny as a stand up comic especially if you're a real hardcore music fan. Maybe even if you're not. And your channel too Wyatt. Happy to hear you're escaping a miserable work situation soon. Anyone who keeps us this damn entertained deserves so much better.

In the UK, I would recommend the radio station 6Music. Iggy Pop has a radio show which has everything from experimental hip hop to hardcore punk and noise rock. Stuart Maconies’ Freak Zone is very good too. Lots of avant garde stuff mixed with progressive rock/metal amongst other.

I have nothing to add here because I only follow the mainstream ones (black metal promotion & unique leader etc) BUT if you didn't see, Job for a Cowboy released a new song. Since you're really in tune with the scene you may have seen it but if not just wanted to let ya know. Its pretty okay.

Great list! May I also suggest:
Wyattxhim. Great channel about extreme music. Dunno if you are aware of it (though I have to say that he usually stutters and mispronounces things, so...).
Classical Nerd. Really good divulgative channel about classical music. Thomas Little knows what he is talking about.
David Bruce Composer is also worth watching, given the fact that he made me discover Wozzeck by Alban Berg (if you're a metal fan trying to get into classical music, please do yourself a favour and check out this dissonant classic).
Mic The Snare: if you are curious about pop music, this channel is valid and fun. A lot of deep dives and interesting discussions (with a wholesome atmosphere).
ThisMachineKillsMusic: she hasn't uploaded a lot of videos, but, besides having one of the coolest names for a channel, she was really important to me while getting into noise/industrial. Her latest series about the live tapes by Throbbing Gristle is stellar.

Amoeba What's In My Bag? is always worth paying attention to. There's more than just the Hollywood location (San Francisco, Berkley, and there was 1 in Las Vegas I want to say). I actually have gone to Amoeba several times, a couple of times I made my own little "What's In My Bag?" videos on my channel.
