I have to be honest, Wyatt: when I first saw this video I thought: "Ugh, not another video talking about spooky creepypastas", but I really appreciated how you treated the subject matter, and you kind of made me curious to check out a project I've always avoided (at the beginning because it was scary, and then, when I got more used to certain sounds, because it looked like a novelty to me). I know that extreme metal and noise/industrial have a lot of disturbing undertones and that these aspects are the first things brought up in every conversation ("do you know the Inner Circle? Sataaanic", "Hamburger Lady by Throbbing Gristle is sooo disturbing"), but I think they tend to get old very quickly, and, if someone becomes a fan of these genres, it is mainly because of the music. I wish people would talk more about music and touch the creepy/disturbing subjects with a more objective eye: no more halloween videos about "the scariest and evilest genre in the world", please...
I've been pretty involved with this project for many years now and glad to see you doing a video about this. As for people disregarding this group as "fake" or "not true" I can guarantee you that they are far from fake. The kid that Wyatt mentioned as having killed his mother was due to the fact that his uncle was molesting him and his mother being fully aware of it did nothing. He snapped when he was 16 and led to the event mentioned. He was eventually released, but died in a car accident around the age of 32. Whether it was an accident or suicide isnt known. As for Osman Arabi he did the remixes for the Nihilistik Terror CD and made a noise layer on Projekt Misanthropia. He was never a member. He also had a blog where he mentioned his involvement which likely started the rumors of him being a member. To sum it up he made remixes of existing material, and 1 layer of noise on one album which you can't differentiate or even say "oh that's his". Thats all I'll share for now as their is so much to type and its late here. Cheers.

“We’re so extreme” is an ever-popular promotional idea. Indeed, it has drawn together many musicians into groups and projects. Thanks for poking at this one. I’m treating it as fake but you’re totally correct that “this is a normal thing to come across” given the attitudes and socially marginal patterns of noise musicians et al.
I have the Gulaggh album on CD, I've had it for years now and I love listening to the weird, wonderful and abnormal, which is down to being autistic and loving music, but this was too much for me!
I listened to the trilogy, and Projekt Misanthropia is the only one that disturbed me somewhat. It's very unhinged, and it actually sounds like a crowd of people a state of total insanity. The first two had screams that sounded more like typical black metal screams.
I've personally always assumed that the screams were recordings of something known as Primal or Scream Therapy if they were real. It would work because it wouldn't be too far fetched to have it recorded. I didn't know that it was a larger project outside of Misanthropia so I always assumed that it was a gimmic for some crappy raw BM project. I've been getting into more extreme noise and power electronics and yeah a lot of that stuff blows the extreme metal music out of the water in terms of unsettling me. I just love every vid about this project. I just love the whole mysticism surrounding this band, and the concept as well, as edgy as it may be. Have heard several times about the band member getting strangled on PT, but haven't been able to identify it in the record. How about doing some videos on Profanatica, Bestial Warlust/Corpse Molestation, Demoncy and Blasphemophagher?.
I found an interview, I forget where, but one of the members of Stalaggh stated that another member worked for an institute in Holland and they made up forms for the patients to sign giving them permission to record their screams. I'm 50/50 on this being real because there's so little info on this and I think a reason that no institute was named specifically was because the institute could be shut for ethical reasons as this could be seen as unethical, but that's just my thoughts. I own a vinyl boxset of the four "main" albums and Pure Misanthropia is the only album that has no artist credited.
dunno about the institution, the band stated that among criminals there are SA victims and pr*stitutes present on the records, so why would they also be held in an institution that holds criminally insane 🤔
Probably because the band has no real understanding of the mental healthcare system and base their backstory on movies and common misconceptions. Their work predates our modern obsession with fact checking so there was likely no motivation to research the topic they were using for shock value.

As someone from the Netherlands, who used to do a lot of urbexing i can say that a lot of mental asylums have been closed down over the years, and usually all tracks of those asylums get wiped really quickly, and buildings get demolished in an instant. And say that this was all true, i think your theory might be really strong, but It’s hard for me to believe that a big institution like that was used to record this. In the past we had a bunch of smaller ones near prisons (which also have been closed and demolished) and i think if this would have been recorded in the early 1990ts/2000 I think that institution might be gone now.
Stalaggh is still a big mystery in the black metal scene here in the Netherlands with no one really knowing who did it and the bands here are quite close to their fanbase but nobody knows who it was and the people that claimed to have worked/been close with them never share anything.
I suppose i could attribute them to my later interest in noise stuff, subconsciously I guess my mind latched onto the early internet videos about them on “spooky” channels, and the idea just stuck, later in life I’ve really gotten into experimental and noise music, and I think that those videos back then might’ve sparked it lol, even if it wasn’t true, that the myths weren’t real, the concept of making projects from pure agony has always been interesting, same with art projects based on people’s health, it’s just an interesting way to portray those feelings beyond just “oh they’re mentally/physically ill”
A Stalag was in fact a POW camp for enlisted personnel, as opposed to an Oflag where captured officers were held. Imagine some low-key »Hogan's Heroes« setting.
I doubt the people behind this project actually know what a Stalag is lol. They probably just chose that name because they thought it had something to do with the Holocaust.
I worked at various psych wards for over 15 years. I think some of the stuff sounds legit but haha we are talking about screams. How is it possible to tell if it's real or not, it's freaking humans screaming, anyone human can make disturbing screams, anyone in anyplace. Whether it's real or fake we won't ever really know and that's why some people dig it

To me, it's neither terrifying nor disturbing but plain and simply boring. Kinda like listening to white noise or a recording of street noise on a busy road. In one ear, out the other without touching anything in between.
I'm pretty sure that Stallagh has a connection with Silencer. The faces in the mirror on the album cover for Death - Pierce Me look eerily similar to that of the face on Project Nihil. But perhaps I'm reaching here lol.
As a health professional, I don’t think they could have done what they claim to have. But still, the soundscapes are terrifying. I think they could have backed away from interviews and the mystique of the sounds would have carried on regardless.
It's more urban legend than anything else. I mean the sounds are real and have been recorded but the means in which they or he did it is speculation at best.
I once met the fastest rapper in the world in the hospital. I'm going to hell for laughing, but holy fuck that was so funny. He kept announcing his stage name and then rapping so fast that eventually is was just "ahhhhhh" 🤣 I should've recorded it and made an album. Would have been better than this shit.
I learned how to scream in the psyche ward. It was intense man... They put me in a room alone, which I thought was gonna be for eternity, and I screamed like a madman... I wish somebody recorded it LOL. It was chilling. Anyway, this band is awful. At least Nattramn gets Leere to write actual music for his PR stunts.
For me I lean about 90% it's real and 10% it's fake. I would probably still be ok with it being fake just because of how real it sounds but considering the fact that there's so many different screams and groans. From the Gulaggh album there's definitely sounds of women and children it makes it seem like they actually did record metal patients. Sure, they could've gotten a bunch of friends to record it, there's no proof they did or didn't, but I just lean toward real because of how visceral and organic it feels. Good job finding the potential institute as well. The Pieter Baan Centre's wiki page states that it's also for criminals which lines up with their stories and some of them 'allegedly' getting attacked. I think the music room could've been a good place to record but I'd think the guy who recorded them did it in secret. I do think that a big reason why they need to remain anonymous is because he could 100% lose his job not just from recording people like that but because of the nazi name related to the band. Whether they are or not doesn't really matter to your boss you know? He would be fired and probably black listed from every facility. It makes sense why that one member wouldn't matter because he doesn't need to make a connection directly with the members in another country, just message the band as a whole. For me it makes sense why they're anonymous and can't talk about who they are or where everything took place. Sure that means it can be faked but it can also point to it being real because, like I said, he could get into massive trouble and possible legal trouble for doing it. Maybe they stopped because they felt they were going to get caught, maybe he did get caught and the institute want's to keep it off the books in fear of retaliation or legal trouble for having them record there. There's so much that can legally go bad for them I think it will be impossible to know for sure unless something actually legally happens to them which I don't think will happen since they did stop. Good video. Oh, and the artwork for :pure misanthropia: is fantastic.
you got to also think, this was before the era of faking stuff to go viral. I think a project this deep and disturbing can't be just some side troll project, especially one with such a deep meaning like this. Screams like that can't just be made without a cause
To be honest this is such BS. First of all there is NO way this comes from actual mental patients. For starters you can't just walk into a mental institution and "record" patients. Secondly my brother who has been working in the biggest mental institution in my country for 20 years and handles lunatics on a daily basis, says he almost never hears screams like these. If at least the sound put on tape was remotely interesting but this is just the dumbest most fake edgy stuff I have ever heard. Not everyone can be Gnaw Their Tongues...
Never heard of this band or story till seeing this video but I only lasted about 6 minutes watching this. Even for a clearly fake story it’s not even that interesting. Woaa!! Crazy people yelling!! Wow😮
I don't believe for a second that this is a real 100% band. Great music though, and I would definitely call "Projekt Misanthropia" an Experimental Black Metal album. Never liked Gulaggh but still waiting for the supposed two remaining albums they were gonna make. Another rumor that went around was that the members got arrested, which of course wasn't true. Great vid.
People who are so sure of themselves must have really fragile egos. Even though I was part of a still underground Black metal scene at the time of this coming out, and have WAY more reasons to believe this is true than it is not, I can still recognize that I don't, in fact, 100% know. Because that is assumption. Grow up a bit man, you're skeptical I get it, you 100% (don't believe)? You're full of it than.

To me, it's neither terrifying nor disturbing but plain and simply boring. Kinda like listening to white noise or a recording of street noise on a busy road. In one ear, out the other without touching anything in between.
Wow only five minutes ago you uploaded this.
You Should Do: Explaining Kiloton
What is playing in the background?
Reminds me of Silencer and Emit, almost.
I saw Dalek with ISIS twice, I saw the LP behind you just reminded me.
albert?
Ngl this dude good at yapping (no hate)
industrial noise, now we're on my plane :P. when are you going to do a video talking about Paul Lemos and Controlled Bleeding?
It's more urban legend than anything else. I mean the sounds are real and have been recorded but the means in which they or he did it is speculation at best.
I'm curious about the children though, there could have been children in Pieter Baan? It was for those who had committed crimes, wasn't it?
Most mentally insane people don't sound like this, you ever even been to a mental hospital?
I once met the fastest rapper in the world in the hospital. I'm going to hell for laughing, but holy fuck that was so funny. He kept announcing his stage name and then rapping so fast that eventually is was just "ahhhhhh" 🤣
I should've recorded it and made an album. Would have been better than this shit.
Can you make a video about Damián Antón Ojeda?
mum? mummy, i’m frightened.
I haven’t heard of these guys in a while lmao
Black metal's final form
Very unique sound
video on Thou next?
I thank you for that
Pieter got him!
what are your thoughts on Lorna Shore?
That sure does have a lot to do with the subject matter at hand.
I myself live in the netherlands close to the pieter baan centre and would like to investagate this
wicked thumbnail
Never heard of it.
Fall into the backrooms and this is playing.
Next do Silencer for clout views bro lol
Forgot about this one lol
I learned how to scream in the psyche ward. It was intense man... They put me in a room alone, which I thought was gonna be for eternity, and I screamed like a madman... I wish somebody recorded it LOL. It was chilling.
Anyway, this band is awful. At least Nattramn gets Leere to write actual music for his PR stunts.
Dalek > Stalaggh
Do you know Nirvana Nevermind?
0:56 "all the information provided by the ANONYMOUS members is factual" exactly, find the errror lol
you got to also think, this was before the era of faking stuff to go viral. I think a project this deep and disturbing can't be just some side troll project, especially one with such a deep meaning like this. Screams like that can't just be made without a cause
What do you mean? Early internet was FILLED WITH FAKE STUFF !!!
@@nikhtzatzi but now everyone wants clout and views. A lot of the early controversies of the internet were creepypastas and stuff
great video
talk about pseudoscorpion next
No wtf
Might be some truth to the albums, but the story about the person clawing there nails out sounds like dramatic nonsense to me.
These screams are easily fakable and a mockery to the mentally ill
