  • How to make a silver wire necklace, this video shows how to construct the beautiful Egyptian Link in easy to follow, step by step instructions. Additionally you can view still photographs of each of the steps involved at www.artfine.com... My standard wire is .035 sterling silver wire, soft, round, but you can also use 18 gauge nickel silver wire, or experiment with the many wires available at craft stores. I particularly like to use Black Stove Pipe wire. The construction of Egyptian Link Necklace requires the use of three pliers, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers and diagonal cutters.

I made this with copper anti-tarnish wire, many years ago and it is still beautiful. I am glad to see you are still here because I think that one day I might like to make another, in silver.

Oh my gosh! It looks so good when it's even just got four links! I can't wait to make it and you are really good at making wire jewelry. I don't even care if mine doesn't look as good, I haven't had as much practice and I'll still be proud of it. I wanted to make a pretty necklace, and now I can thanks to you. So yay! :-D

Hi, Ross! this necklace was the first piece I tried to make, using the wire I had at home. Recently I bought what in Argentina is called "acero quirúrgico", maybe "surgery steel". I made the first 4 pieces, and I just realized how to connect them!. Thanks you very much for the tutorial. You are a great teacher!

He did a great job will this can't wait to start my own coils! Think I really understand this now! Love that you showed how to do it, but also pointed out what can go wrong so we don't mess it up!

Hi Lea - it takes 5 1/2 inches of wire per link, and for an 18 inch necklace it would require about 57 links. So 57 times 5.5 would give you the approximate amount of wire you'd need for that size necklace plus whatever you need for your clasp. A good site to check out silver wire availability is Myron Toback. As far as sales go, you would need to add the cost of materials to your production time and effort. Thanks for your question!

Did you make this necklace? If you did, how long did you make it and how long did it take you to make it? I'm kind of a beginner and it seems like it's taking forever. Thank you.

Amber Holway I did make this necklace! It's about 18 1/2 in long including the clasp. I was just a beginner at the time and I want to say it was one of the very first things I made and it probably took a few hours each day and I was done in about 3 days. But for a beginner I was having so much fun with it I didn't think much about how long it took, I just wanted to produce something haha! Just this week I decided to make a matching bracelet which will be about 7 inches finished. It's just a gorgeous piece and fits so nicely on your neck! I made mine with 18 gauge silver plated Artistic Wire that you can get at Michael's

You can purchase nickel silver wire from any good craft or jewelry supply store. I use 20 gauge wire when I make the links in nickel silver, and .035, soft, round when I make them in sterling silver. I purchase my sterling silver wire from Myron toback inc.

  • @realisticart

Yes, I use jewelers needle nose pliers. The ribbed pliers would damage the wire.
