  • How to record a song with Garageband. I used the Scarlett Solo (Focusrite) and did a quick informal review and demonstrated how easy it is to set up. I recorded a Cover of Blue Suede Shoes (Carl Perkins) using GarageBand, showing you how easy it is to add tracks, a drum track and how to do some simple editing.

    Thank you for saying "The way Scarlett is set up, your microphone always goes in Channel 1 and your guitar goes in Channel 2." Solved the issue I was having. Every other tutorial I watched just proceeded without specifying that.

    Thanks mate, great video. I’ve set up my focusrite solo no worries. Two questions - 1) When I’m on a track, I click on the record button at the top and it records no worries. Why is it necessary to “configure track head” and put that record arm button on the track? 2) I’ve setup the track fine with the option input 1 or 2 or both. If I’ve set up the wrong one can I change that option after or do I delete the track and start again. For example, I set up for input 1 by mistake and want to change it to input 2. There’s nothing recorded so it doesn’t matter about deleting it and starting again, just wonder if there is that option. Cheers

    • @ericpeacock100
      @ericpeacock100 2 года назад

      Thanks anyway I’ve answered my own questions. The “arming” would be needed for recording multiple things at once (of course 🤦‍♂️) - I’ve only been doing single stuff until now. I found the input 1/2 selection.

      Hi! Sounds like you are trying to record vocals while you are playing guitar? If that's the case, your vocal mic may be picking up some of the guitar.. Make sure you record each track separately OR if you need a reference, record both at once on a guide/reference track and then record each separately on additional tracks

    Hello, please tell me how to solve the problem. I use GarageBand for real-time broadcasts by a third-party application. It amplifies the usb mic, but the effects are only sent to the microphone's earbuds and do not reach the desired application. How can you transfer effects to both headphones and app?

    Forgot to mention, I seem to have to use the noise gate extensively or I get a lot of buzz from guitars. Doesn't seem to matter what amp model but obviously really buzzy on the crunch and distorted models...any hints on that? Cheers

      You know what, I have a similar issue when I have the charger connected to my laptop. Unplug it and see if it goes away..?

    Can you record guitar lines with the mic ?

    • @RyanMartinWeddings

      Yep. Acoustic would be no worries but Electric you would need to sit the mic in front of an amp.

    Thank you! this is very helpful. I just need help with one thing: I turn my gain on to the perfect level but somehow when it actually gets recorded, the volume is like, REALLY, REALLY low, and I have to lower the volume of the background track in order to get the balance. did I do something wrong with the setup?

    • @RyanMartinWeddings
      @RyanMartinWeddings  4 года назад

      Simple fix - There is multiple volume sliders.. one up the top right for master then each channel/track has its own slider. Adjust each channel to get the balance you require. Hopefully that fixes your problem. Let me know if it doesn’t

    can I record vocal using only playback (mp3) ? without using live instruments like guitar

    • @RyanMartinWeddings
      @RyanMartinWeddings  4 года назад +1

      Ara Vartan you can record your vocals over a backing track if that’s what your are asking? Drag an mp3 in on a different track then, create a new track for vocals.

    I have a question. You record first guitar, or both at once. I think the micro record guitar as well, because there is so closer... it can be? or the micro only capture your voice and not guitar, because the micro is good and it doesn't capture guitar sounds... thanks

      There may be a little spill over from the guitar in this situation but you could always do them separately if you wish

    For some reason, whenever I try to use it in garage band, it just tells me that the selected input isn’t available and automatically uses the build in microphone and speaker with letting me change it. Do you know what the problem is?

    • @RyanMartinWeddings
      @RyanMartinWeddings  5 лет назад

      Vinny Contini sounds like the computer isn’t picking up the input device. I’d try googling the device you are using and searching for the device driver - usually on the manufacturers website. Download and install the driver would be my first recommendation..
