Had my 4i4b10 days snagged on MacBook Air m1. Drivers on site...Thunderbolt port one works other doesn’t ...power obviously ...great company products support....that is how you become and stay Top Shelf...now to get my gear communicating ...looks like this is the stop... bass guitar mic vocals midi keyboard.

A very helpful video! I recently bought an 8i6 3rd Gen and use it with Garageband (GB), to record. I'm trying to dial in my recording process and I'm noticing a couple things and would love your help please. The Record Level slider in GB is disabled/locked in position all the way to the left (in the OFF position) and I can't control it. Is this because the 8i6 gives me control of the record level in the form of the Gain dial? Also, I normally record with GB's Monitor ON so I can hear myself while recording, but then my vocal sounds "warbly" in my headphones, while recording but not in playback. I then turned the GB Monitor OFF and the vocal sounds more like I'm used to hearing, not "warbly." So, I'm thinking when I record with the 8i6 in GB, the GB monitor should be OFF because the 8i6 is already doing this job. Is that correct? And would these same conditions apply in Logic Pro X? Again, any help would be appreciated.

Great video. I have a Scarlet 2i2 but want to record acoustic guitar into GB on my iPad. Aside from the green/red input gain halo rings on the interface, shouldn't I be monitoring input gain in GB? I don't see any easy way to monitor my signal to make sure it's set properly.
No, that shouldn't be required. You just need to create a mono audio track in your software that is set to receive signal from the Scarlett input that you've connected to. You can then use the Gain Halo to ensure that a good signal is being sent in.
Thank you for the video! Unfortunately after panning the two tracks ( guitar and voice ) in my case they get kind of distorted. How can I fix that? They sound clean only in the middle position.

I just got into recording and mixing. I have a Sennheiser e609 in front of my guitar amp, going into the focusrite solo. I find that my gain has to be almost maxed out to hear anything. Is this normal? The mic is right up against my amp grill as it is supposed to be and I'm playing at a decent volume.

I have also found that I can't hear myself in the headphones with this exact setup issue....

@@FocusriteHelp I'm having a similar problem. When using a different interface, I can hear my voice in my headphones...but I can barely hear anything when using the Scarlett Focusrite. I have to adjust the gain to the max. Recording audio is not a problem, but I like to hear myself and my room tone as I'm recording. Please advise. Thanks!
How can I get the solo 3rd gen to record my electric guitar in stereo? Been trying to figure this out for hours, does it really only record either left or right channel? That would be super disappointing!
Does your guitar feature a stereo output? Most guitars are mono. If you are using a pedal with a stereo output, you will need to use a larger audio interface that features 2 1/4" inputs. All of the inputs on our audio interfaces are mono. If you record a mono source, like a guitar or microphone into a stereo track in software, rather than a mono track, it can have the effect of placing the signal on one side. Using a mono track will remedy this.
why did you select line level rather than guitar for both tracks including the guitar track?

Maybe I missed something, but how can you monitor what’s coming from the DAW instead of your direct performance only? I would like to hear a click or a backing track while recording … Does that also work via the headphone option on the interface?
You will want to make sure you don't have "Direct Montitoring" enabled on your Scarlett, either by deselecting the button on the interface itself, or by adjust your input mix in Focusrite Control. You can then decide which tracks you want to monitor in Garageband, by selecting the direct monitor icon on the individual tracks. i am getting a very low headphone out volume, on everything coming out of my iMac: from both youtube videos and from GarageBand. Any suggestions?
Which Focusrite product do you have? What kind of headphones are you using? Are they connected to the headphone output on your audio interface?

but i followed all the step but there is static sound. Also I noticed that if I don't touch the chords of the guitar the static sound is even worse. i cannot record an album like this :( what can I do?

I tried plugging in my headphones to the mac to playback the recording but I dont hear anything. (There are are visual sound waves so I know it recorded and the scarlett 2i2 is set to onput and output.)
If Scarlett is connected to your Mac and has been selected as the audio input/output device, you will need to connect headphones to your Scarlett to hear playback. When in use, Scarlett essentially replaces the computer's built-in soundcard so all audio will pass through Scarlett.
My mic will not work i pluged it up and taken it out over and over also made sure sure power was on since i am using the condenser mic it came with and alll things are clicked in garage band as well my macbook i am so confused

Do you need focusrite control?
It depends on which Scarlett you have. If it's 3rd Gen, yes, If it's a 1st or 2nd Gen Scarlett Solo, 2i2, or 2i4, then you do not.
What does track header - record enable do? I don't follow.
Record enable means that your audio track is enabled to be recorded. GarageBand will not record your track if this is not selected.
Please help, my scarlett 4i4 isnt picking up any audio from my mic. I'm trying to play around with garage band before upgrading to Logic Pro X, and both input and output settings on garageband and in system preferences are set to the Scarlett, output is working with headphones plugged into the 4i4, but the mic is not being picked up.

This may be "duh", but plugging in a regular goes in like guitar/bass?
I'm not sure I fully understand your question. But, yes any instrument with a 1/4 inch TRS output can be plugged into the combo inputs.
