    You can of course use the datalink pod to control the Walleye all the way in and avoid 'confusion' of the target

    To think...In the 1960s the US Air Force is piddling around with lasers, infrared, and radar. Then a tinkerer called 'Wacky Jacky' at the skunkworks realizes the 'grid-lines' in TV's can be used to guide a bomb with equivalent accuracy to a modern JDAM!

    Pointing this out now, but you can extend the range of the weapon by tossing it.

    @Cap...so you like that weapon..eh? Now is it possible to slew the Walleye AFTER you have designated via TPOD and Uncaged it? So you could possibly 'dial it in' better WITHOUT the datalink pod.

      no Sir, fire and forget with the pod.

    Nice video keep up the good work. To me the Walleye seems to be overkill for most targets, are there actual targets in DCS that a smaller bomb won't cut it for? Still fun to fire either way.. something to be said for watching 2000+ lbs of destruction crash into something on an old datalink :).

    That’s a much better way of deploying that weapon! Thank you for getting that information out to the warfighters.

    Cap, I'm trying this out but when I way point designate, the tpod is inaccurate. It doesn't lock onto the way point at all; just maybe nearby, and then I have to search around to locate the target. When I set the mission up, I made sure that the way point was directly on the target.

    • @rickmasseur2008
      @rickmasseur2008 4 года назад

      I think it is the altitude setting of the way point. I will check it when I get home!

    • @rickmasseur2008
      @rickmasseur2008 4 года назад +2

      That's what it was: the altitude of my way points.

    Hey guys, i am unable to uncage the AGM62, i am able to uncage the FLIR pod as usual, by pressing cage/uncage button, but not the AGM62 for some reason.
    I did everything right, it is on the right station, i linked it with a Datalink, its all fine, it says its in range, but it simply does not uncage, i asked on the DCS discord but with no succes, so i guess i ask here.
    Any help is appreciated!

      Weird problem, I don't know any1 that has had this problem. Don't forget to push and hold SCS Depress or TDC Depress while trying to move the camera of the bomb. MAybe this is your problem??

      @@grimreapers hey thanks mate for the response, appreciate it.
      It seemed to have fixed itself, after trying all kinds of things for 2 hours straight it decides to actualy listen to the cage/uncage button, not sure what was going on tbh.
      But it is resolved!

    its great that you know how to do that, it would be nice if you slowed down so the rest of us can understand and see what your doing. way to fast speaking to understand, same on the rest of your videos, great info but you go way to fast, have to watch 20 times to maybe get it.

    Why wouldn't I just use a GBU-32 over this? Or an LGB-12? Both are considerably more accurate and less prone to chose it's own target, for one. Can carry far more than a Walleye too.
    Damage doesn't even seem any more significant than either one either. I just don't understand your obsession.

    • @TealJosh
      @TealJosh 5 лет назад

      Yeah, laser guided missiles/bombs for moving targets(GBU), JDAMs for relatively light targets(or ripple JSOW) and JSOW for bunker busting. Walleye is just huge expensive bomb, I don't see many use cases for it.

    • @grimreapers

      I just like it because it's old-school!

    • @Ironwulf2000
      @Ironwulf2000 5 лет назад +1

      Used like this, and with a datalink pod, it can be dropped from a long way away like a JSOW or JDAM, still be guided in with pinpoint through the window accuracy like an LGB, but without the exposure.

    Here’s a good question to ask yourself Grim. You’re flying the American F/A18C right? It’s a US Navy aircraft right? So, the M1A1/M1A2 is an American tank correct? So, why did you commit team kill in the thumbnail?
