If I am not mistaken and if no one mentioned it in the comments - In the Settings of the game, you can go to Special > FA-18C and Tick in the setting TDC Hold or not hold - meaning you can move the TV screen while NOT holding the TDC Depress button - found it very useful cause my joystick setting is setup to change the hat from a 8 directional button to a Axis horizontal/Vertical setting IF I hold the Depress button longer than 3 seconds. Hope that helps :)
Another great video...but, the thing that angers me about dcs is that its so advanced as a simulator but so inacurate with the explosions of the weapons...a 2000lb bomb looks like a small munition going off...i mean really, a 2000lb bomb hits and detonates 15 ft from a armoured transport and does nothing to it? I really wish they would work on the reality of the explosiveness of the weapons as they do everything else
So you can also kind of launch it in PP mode by using a target waypoint and the data link pod. If you do it this way you get a drop/launch Q in the HUD. You can then actually look for the target after launch using the tv camera on the weapon as long as it's in the general area of the waypoint/target point. Much greater range that way as you don't need an actual lock before launch...
@@grimreapers I could see this being combo'd with a toss launch being really nice. Only problem would be 1 bomb vs many, supposed trading chances of getting through SAMs vs being able to hit a mobile target.

Is it just a co-incidence that the APC's went evasive when the first bomb was inbound? There's no physical way they could know they'd been targeted but they seem to be trying to spoil the aim - more ED AI trickery?

Watched this video about 30 times and even taken notes, but in the Dawn Raiders mission with FA18 my data link just stays fuzzy and cant tune into channel 2 or 8. Ive fluked it once but no idea what I did differently. Its bugging me that im overlooking something in the set up sequence. Try try again I guess

I know ‘how’ to do it, have the right button to do it, but in the Mission for Walleye, it seems to ignore the sensor select button, and any other sensor input (while holding down the selector) changes the active DDI. Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong despite following the advice in these videos and the forums??
Grim Reapers Hey GR, yes, I did all of that and wouldn’t work. But I did uncheck the realistic slew box and now works the same as my radar cursor. Not realistic but achieves the aim. Now if only I could ‘see’ the target on the screen to lock it up.... 😆
Well I'm mad! In openBeta I can arm the plane as you have here but, I can not drop one for the life of me. In DCS2.5 if I load a mission created in openBeta it can't be uncaged. I can not even find an AGM62 or Datalink pod in the ME. I don't understand. Any advice?
The channel for the data link pod is the station number that the weapon is on. If your AGM 62 is on station 8, then you change the channel on the UFC to 8.
Can't slew the camera. Getting so aggravated. I have the diamond on the top right corner. I have it uncage. I move the flir when I have the lightening. Can't move this. Can't get whet in doing wrong. Rrrahhhh

Loved the Walleye in Janes F/A-18. Plenty of targets in the Kola campaign had Walleyes flying through their windows ;D

You don't need to hold TDC depress to slew unless you have the realistic slew option checked in the special tab.

I think that range requires a drop from very high altitude, whatever max-possible is for the drop platform.
New SLAM 84H can do 150nm. ^^

To slew it ensure you press and hold TDC Depress, otherwise won't let you slew.

So you've assigned TDC to screen yes? Diamond in top right of corner. If so then ensure you hold TDC Depress while slewing, otherwise it won;t slew.

What's the range of the datalink? Will it stay connected if you fire it at max range and then burn away in the other direction?

I'm not sure if it even drops without a valid lock. You might have to lock on to the ground first just to get it to drop.

It wasnt bad aiming ur crosshair was on the spot but the walleye still decided to fly over it the transport XD
