Great content...I shoot with a SIG p229 after being taught that same high grip and getting a comfortable gun. My gun handling skills really improved, as well as my shooting. Had Glock 17...I could hit stuff, but it was uncomfortable for my small hands. I agree 💯% a comfortable gun makes the biggest difference! Great video Nick! Awesome to see how everyone has their own techniques and they work! I have to try your grip method, thanks for the awesome content as usual!
I read in the comments once to grip the gun similar to what you showed, but use a pressure similar to 'wringing out a towel'. The opposing forces between my two hands helped me with recoil management significantly!
@blessedbaphomet it's amazing how they gaslight themselves not just each other.. Imagine defending a convicted felon, rapist who hung out with sex traffickers and is NOT pro 2A and calling the old guy, who's actually a good person and calling him the Shady one 🤦♂️😂😂😂

I mostly carry a casper w/ a red dot. Incase I ever have to defend myself i dont want the cops taking one of my nicer pistols into evidence. I keep a tool to remove the dot as well.
I started gripping my pistols like that after I saw you do it. And every gun in your hand just looks like it has no recoil. So I tried it and almost immediately my recoil control was like 80% better and everything feels so flat with that grip. I figured it's almost like the c clamp on a rifle but on a pistol. It really does work
So you carry most of the time a gun which has the g19 dimensions, very interesting Btw, it would be very interesting to see how you manage the recoil with a stock g19, with your high grip shooting technique, maybe just a trigger upgrade and thats it, rhanks for your videos! We love them
I've never really given it much thought, but when you said hold it like you were trained, It dawned om me, I don't do that anymore. I holding my pews a few different ways, but I still shoot good. I shoot both high and low like you were showing, sometimes my left hand cups the bottom of my right hand and others, my left thumb will cross over the back of my right hand. Now that I've been sitting here thinking about it, I couldn't tell you when or how I started the other tow holds. And I've been shooting for over 45 years. Guess that means I will have to put the 4 holds to the test and see which one actually works the best for me.
Haha he called out the G2 and that’s actually what I carry. It’s been good for me. That particular model is decent but I have heard that Taurus has had a couple of bad ones in the past
Your grip make sense in regards to recoil mitigation since you are essentially moving the center of mass towards the front and higher on the gun. I tried to mimic this with my CZ Shadow 2 Orange but my trigger finger extends far enough to hit the palm of my off hand when using your high grip. Is there something I am missing about your grip that avoids this? I am assuming this will be less of an issue if I had a gun with a longer reach, CZ Shadow 2 has a rather short reach when in single action.
Base of your thumb up against the moving slide seems wonky. But I'll have to try it for kicks, just hoping I won't get "slide rash". That high grip certainly does force your left wrist to twist and lock, which is good.
I've been having the same issues with my extended slide release on my g19, but a friend highly recommended the kagwerks release, fired his, and had no issues. I also grip super high.
Would be super interesting to see you do s&p shield 40 3.1 inch, i think its 20 oz empty, barrel conversion to 357 sig, and how you handle recoil, on light gr pills such as civil defense 50gr, and something much heavier, 147gr or so. I personally believe that 10mm and 357sig are only ones that are ONE AND DONE, in defensive situation, even on crackhead all hyped up. 50gr goes around 2225-2300fps in shorter barrels, and 65gr ish underwoods in 10mm, around 2300-2350fps.
