Iraq Torture Survivors Await US Justice

  • The United States government has apparently failed to provide compensation or other redress to Iraqis who suffered torture and other abuse two decades after evidence emerged of US forces mistreating detainees at Abu Ghraib and other US-run prisons in Iraq, Human Rights Watch said today.
After the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, the US and its coalition allies held about 100,000 Iraqis between 2003 and 2009. Human Rights Watch and others have documented torture and other ill-treatment by US forces in Iraq. Survivors of abuse have come forward for years to give their accounts of their treatment, but received little recognition from the US government and no redress. Prohibitions against torture under US domestic law, the Geneva Conventions of 1949, and the United Nations Convention Against Torture, as well as customary international law, are absolute.

"They ate my flesh and scales." How unfortunate he choses to describe his subjective feelings as a fish or creature hunted and used for his flesh. In Hinduism there is the story of even a fish being an avatar of god and the one who spares him is shown Vishnu's true form as Matsya avatar. My prayers for this man and his family. For it is surely that the US exercised punishment unnaturally, excessively and unjustly foregoing trials, and presumption of innocence. In the dharmashastras we have a saying in the manavadharmashastra (the code of conduct for humans), the one who exercises danda or executive authority in polity unnaturally or excessively is destroyed together with their relatives. Danda or this authority is described as being lustrous and that it cannot be wielded by despots. The US surely did that and for this they should provide recompense and seek absolution by righting the legal injury and psychological and social and familial harm him and many Iraqis have suffered due to US occupation.

A question from me, anyone please answer me. Who will give the compensation to the people of Kuwait who suffered due to Saddam's attack ?

    • @thegoatproductions7664

Kuwait was stealing Iraqi oil during Iraq’s war with Iran. They kept on doing it despite Iraq asking them to stop multiple times. So as a result, Saddam declared war on Kuwait. The Americans told the Kuwaitis to keep stealing oil so they could justify a war to topple Saddam. Saddam was a threat to Israel and there are many zionists within the American government (Paul Wolfawitz, Scooter Libby, Douglas Feith, Richard Pearl, etc) who are agents of Israel.

  • @timirbiswas3834

All these happened due to the fact that Iraq attacked weak Kuwait. All the responsibility of this goes to Saddam Hussain. America got the chance to participate in the war due to Saddam's fault. We know that America is an evil....but Saddam Hussein used to think he was the biggest evil in the world...and Americans showed him that they were more evil than Saddam. This resulted in the sufferings of common people in Abu Gharib. I can mention an incident which shows Saddam's standard. Uday Hussain shot some person in a party. Then Saddam gave Uday an unbelievable punishment. Saddam destroyed few costly cars of Uday, which were bought by the money obtained by selling petrolium. So if Saddam is the leader of a country these things are bound to happen!!!

Saddam only declared war on Kuwait because they were doing slant oil drilling into Iraqi oil fields. Iraqis asked them to stop multiple times but they refused. The Americans told the Kuwaitis to keep doing it to piss off Saddam. America is was looking for an excuse to go to war with Iraq because they didn’t like Saddam do to him threatening Israel multiple times in the 80s. After the first gulf war, America placed sanctions on Iraq that starved hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis to death. Mostly children. You can’t put the blame on Saddam thats just foolish. Im not saying he was a saint, but this was completely Americas fault.

    • @Kimahimaatina

America has to be directly blamed too. I’m sorry but just because there was a corrupt leader doesn’t allow you to brutally torture prisoners of war.
