  • After hanging around with some after market exhaust, I kind of miss the standard look of the exhaust. So I found this Khrome Werks 3" HP-Plus Tapered Slip-on Mufflers and very happy with the sound results. Its quiet loud comparing with the stock but still neighborhood friendly. The deep rumble during idle is excellent, and you'll get the aggressive sound when you punched it. It is truly a Harley sound.
The video was shot with Sanyo Xacti Full HD camcorder. The sound is purely recorded without any sound editing.

got the same setup on my Xl1200X- 2016 along with the sound reduction kit and some new stainless steel clamps. Installation was a breeze, about an hour later I was riding a total new bike. It became more responsive and with no EFI adjustment gave life to the engine... and of course the sound is joyful ! loud but politely... I wish the bike came stock with these pipes. The chrome is beautiful and they fit perfectly with the look.

Hi Sezad. Thanks for your comment.
Base on some experience I had, If you are looking for deep rumble sound, loud when you punch it, not too loud on idle, I recommend this Khrome Werks product. You can choose the tapered one, slice cut, black or chrome, replaceable baffles type etc on their website. This is my opinion about the exhaust that you've asked:
SE Slip-Ons: It has a distinctive, unique, true dual of Harley Davidson's sound (refer to my other video about SE). Very nice sound. It also give you extra power quiet significant. The 'breath" feels longer on every gear. BUT its not loud, although it is louder than stock. If you ride with some friend with louder exhaust, you can't hear yours.
V&H slip-ons: I don't have experience with V&H slip-ons, but got friend that use it. It is loud, rasp sound, less bass than SE. Again.... loud! ;P
V&H short shot & big radius: LOUD! Neighborhood enemy number one! :P
Me, I like the deep, dual sound, bass rumble sound. Loud when you punch it, quiet on idle. And I found this on khrome werks tappered. So I love this slip-ons.
Please don't get me wrong, everyone have their opinion, taste and needs. So all that I wrote above is only my opinion and needs, I don't represent anyone.

Hi, what's the precise name/model of your handlebar? it seems a biltwell Z bar, but is higher than the one on sale by biltwell...

+NIHIL VOID Hi. It don't have a specific brand name though, but I found it on ebay. Try to search: LA chopper black Zbar 10" or just 10" Black zbar.

Hi is this with baffles in or out? Thanks

Helo, this is with original baffles. The Tapered series baffles cannot be replace or modified. The slash cut series or others can. :P

Can the reduction sound kit be installed in these ?

    • @capskie

This type is fixed baffles. I've asked them once about how to replace the baffles and they said it can't for this tapered model.
But why you want to reduce it? Its not that loud though..

Thanks for the reply capskie. I just bought my first Harley with the Khrome Werks HP Plus 3" mufflers, I am used to quiet bikes lol, just sounded loud to me and don't want to annoy the neighbors. Just saw that Khrome Werks do a reduction kit so was thinking about it if they fitted.

For other type of Khrome Werks slip-ons..yes it can use the sound reductions (Slash cut model). The one that cannot be changed is this Tapered model just like the one I have.

Hi, I spoke with Khrome Werks and they advised me that you can install the reduction kit on the tapered mufflers. I ordered some from V-Twin mania and they were installed today at Maidstone HD. The muffles sound fantastic. Not as loud at idle or cruising which is what I needed. Still fairly loud when you open it up though.

      Oh good then. :P
Maybe what cannot be done is change the baffles, not installing the reduction kit. hahaha... cos what I asked them back then is how to replace the baffles to make it louder. hahahaha...
      Enjoy the ride bro... \m/

capskie What baffle did you choose in V&H fuel pak? And do you have DB-killers on?

    • @capskie
      @capskie  6 лет назад +1

I choose Standard/stock baffle. I don't use any DB-Killers though. The sound is not that loud so I think no DB-killers needed.
