I agree with you DJ .. 2 weeks ago I had my first Qantas since the pandemic from Singapore to Sydney and domestic from Sydney to Adelaide and Adelaide to Sydney and then back to Singapore ❤️🇸🇬 and I must say Qantas stands for quality and no nonsense typical Australian service. It was awesome on board the a380 a330 and 737-800 aircraft!
Totally, bar some major issues with the airline I think the onboard experience was better, but for overall customer experience away from the plane and especially customer service Air Canada stood out
Air Canada economy class can best be described as "serviceable." Nothing stands out, but nothing is especially good either. The food is often more like the your waffles than your other meals.
I love your videos on general aviation news and these newer flight experience videos are really keeping things fresh. Thanks a lot for the work that you do, my daily dose of aviation :)
I flew in the opposite direction, YVR to SYD, and on a 777-200LR back in 2019. I believe I was sitting in 40E and despite it being the middle seat, it was still quite comfortable. Nearly 15 hours in the air. Their IFE is one of the best!
I just flew Calgary - Frankfurt with Air Canada last saturday in Business Class and have to say it was by far the best experience ever on a flight. The Dreamliner was extremely clean, seats are exceptional, staff was super friendly on the ground and in the air, food was very good and we arrived 30 min ahead of schedule. So at least for a flight in Business Class I would choose Air Canada again any time.
Happy flight knowing that it is very long from Sydney to Vancouver...But you are boarding a beautiful plane 777 and a pioneering company in the world of aviation...Praise be to God that you realized the flight...I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the good information and beautiful photos from Sydney Airport... Your seat is not supposed to be 52k. You deserve 1st class....Greetings from Saudi Arabia
I’ve flown to Australia from Canada a few times, most on AC but not Qantas, so cant compare. The last flight from Australia was MEL to YZZ on a 787-9 in business just as the pandemic was starting to take hold. I enjoyed the flight and service. The AC hard product is comfortable, but not exceptional.
I love the honesty in your flight reviews and that you are reviewing economy and not just the premium products. I have noticed a drop in QANTAS' performance over the last thirty years but it has accelerated its decline over the last 15 years to the point that I now fly Jetstar to get better service at a cheaper price. I would be interesting to see you review Air New Zealand the next time you return to Australia with a transit to Melbourne in Auckland or maybe Northern Pacific to Tokyo then ANA or JAL to Australia. Good work.
I flew with Air Canada on the fifth freedom flight from Santiago de Chile to Buenos Aires. It was my first time with Air Canada and was definitely the last time. The whole flight was a clusterfuck from waiting 90 minutes for the check-in booths to be opened, to dealing with the uncaring ground staff, to putting up with the grouchy cabin crew (who refused to give me coffee because the seat belt lights were on), to being served a plate of pineapple when they fucked up my vegetarian meal option, and so on. Never will I ever fly with Air Canada again!
Welcome DJ to Vancouver! That's my home and I spend my spare time plane spotting at yvr before starting work at Canada Post located on the north side of the runway. I hope you will enjoy your stay as the we are in our most beautiful weather of the year. Sunny and warm.
We flew on that same flight in May in premium economy and returned in June on a 787-9. The Dreamliner is much better suited for those long flights. The food outbound was really nice but coming back not so but still enjoyed the whole experience
I flew the combined CP/QF flights in the late 1990s. Then Air Canada 777 33/34 in 2011. And that was before Air Canada "densified" its cabins by reducing seat pitch and going 10 across on a plane designed for 9. Service was nowhere near what one would expect. And suprisingly, upon departure from SYD in morning, the were quick to serve a snakc and then forced everyone to go to shut blinds and expect them to start sleeping at noon. Both Qantas and Canadian airlines knew how to run trans-pacific long hauls. Air Canada, until it bought CP, had very little trans-pac flights and when I flew it in 2011, it was obvious they still lacked the right mentality. Taking off from SYD early mroning, they quickly snerved s snack and then forced everyone to lower blinds and expect them to go to sleep by noon. As a result of doing this too early, nobody gets tired and nobody sleeps. In comparison, during the combined QF/CP flight operations, QF rand the 10 hour flight to Honolulu as daytime flight with lunch and dinner. Then you switched to either a CP flight to Vancouver or Toronto. Both operated as overnight flights with lights out quickly after take off and s quick snack. ( they knew we have gotten dinner on the QF leg before). Interestingly, the CP flight to Toronto left at midnight HNL time for 8 hours. Blinds down right after takeoff even though it was midnight. This was because the sun would rise within an hour or two of flight. We got 6 hours of total darkness in plane and 2 hours before landing, blinds started to go up letting ultra bright afternoon sunshine come in and provide a "rude" awakening :-) The AC 15 hour non stop SYD-YVR should give at least 4-6 hours of daytime flight then 7-8 hours of night time and 2 hours for wakeup/breakfast before landing. Air Canada does not care about coach and wants to make it as miserable as possible to push people to pay for premium economy. It has no concept of how the competition operates trans pacific and unfortunatly, people still fly with them which justifies the AC accountant's decisions that people will continue to fly AC despite miserable experiences. BTW, AC is absolutely terrible when things don't work out perfectly and flights are late/cancelled at a large airport. Lastly, you applauded the ramp folks at SYD saying they work in snow. When did it last snow in Sydney? :-) > /details,cp1026,may09 Flight Details - Screen 1 of 2 Date: May 9 1996 Thursday Flight: CANADIAN AIRLINES 1026 Leave: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA 0925 Arrive: HONOLULU, HI 2245 ** **This flight arrives on MAY 8 Miles: 5087 Aircraft: BOEING 747 Elapsed Time: 9 hours 20 minutes Meals: Lunch Snack Date: May 9 1996 Thursday Flight: CANADIAN AIRLINES 1026 Leave: HONOLULU, HI 0020 Arrive: TORONTO, CANADA 1505 Miles: 4648 Aircraft: BOEING 767 Elapsed Time: 8 hours 45 minutes Meals: Snack Breakfast

Wait. I think the plane that you took is the exact plane I took from YVR to NRT and back from NRT to YVR. How I know it is because the FIN number said 737 and mines had that number too.
You mention having an anaphylactic allergy and having priority seating to wipe down. My husband has an anaphylactic peanut allergy and we’ve never done this or even realized boarding early was an option, what is the process? Cheers
I just wanna know how one can sleep with that little legroom. I’m going from Canada to Australia in 28 for the eclipse, and ideally I’ll get a red eye, take an Ambien and sleep thru the whole thing - but I might want to get premium economy just for the extra legroom
Question: Do you ever show what you look like? I think your fans and subscribers would like to know what you look like. I know that I would! ;-). Take care!
Air Canada will get you from Point A to Point B, but that's about it. They're decent if you upgrade, nothing to write home about otherwise. The last time I flew across the Pacific was with Air New Zealand (Vancouver -> Auckland -> Sydney). I had a good flight, but it was in Premium Economy. Not sure what sort of experience I'd have had in Economy.
I wish an airline plane was a place where you could escape from screens. No flop down tray tables, either. Put a padded rope behind each seat and nothing else. Pad the rear of each seat so you or a stray stewardess can smash into it with zero injury. Hey airline. If you want to feed or snack me, bring a stainless bowl and an aluminum spork. Make every menu item a roll sandwich or a piece of pie. Nothing that loves to spoil. On most RUclips flights, we see Alex Praglowski try to squeeze his long legs somewhere. At least DJ gets some peace.
I am Canadian and would not fly Air Canada long haul anywhere. And never to Australia. Their is no comparison to Qantas experience and service. Even if you paid me to be on this flight.
@@colinrenfrew48 I certainly preferred the Qantas product and experience but ultimately Qantas falls short on a lot of aspects like customer service etc
Really bad experience in air Canada ,Due to their mistake I lost my 10000$ in tickets and now they don't provide me new tickets , secondly they dint provide us hotel at Toronto airport while weather was not good and 1 days delay was there .we have to spent whole day for just requesting them for hotel stay .I ensure in future while buying tickets with Aircanada .after paying lots of money if customer have to bag for service how can we say these are good management .really third quality management i have ever seen in my life

The AC experience can be hit or miss. Sadly the misses are getting more frequent
In the crews defence, they can’t serve hot drinks when the seatbelt signs are on incase of spillages/burns etc
Great video DJ! I flew Qantas to Brisbane and from Sydney in 2016. Love it compared to AC

Qantas and Air Canada, both using 787-9s

Hi
Why do other countries refer to maintenance as engineering? Here in the U.S. engineering and maintenance are two completely different things.
