    She is telling realistic and practical things and not giving us any false hopes thats the good thing about this video
    Okay so this is what I've learnt after doing lot of research on this particular topic
    1) calorie deficit is the key to weight loss
    2) weight training is core to build strength and muscles followed by cardio ( 70-80% weight training and 20-30% cardio)
    3) Keep on drinking water throughout the day ( keep a bottle of water with you so you can sip on it throughout the day)
    4)understand your body...your limits...set goals which are achievable and practical
    5)weight loss or weight gain takes time so give your body and mind that time and see the magic
    6) and last...consistency is the key ..so if you're doing something good do it for your entire life don't stop even if you achieve your idle goal...healthy habbits are most valuable assets that we can own

She is deep down worried about weight. But lazy and embarrassed to do jog in front of others. She was more than 50 kgs before lockdown. Even her thighs are around 54 inches. My favorite thing you said in this video is that if you've lost some weight and feel good about yourself and the scale won't budge, maybe it's time to learn to accept and love your body because the body has reached its natural healthy weight. I think that's the most sensible thing I've heard from any fitness youtuber in a very long time. We get so obsessed with wanting to look like a fitness model, but is that really realistic or important? As long as we're healthy and fit, we don't need to look "perfect." Thank you for the positive msg!!

    • @joannasohofficial
      @joannasohofficial  7 лет назад +273

      =) Yes, a lot of us are bombarded with "fit" images and think that we should look a certain way if we are "fit". That's not the case at all. Fitness is a LIFESTYLE, you should feel good about yourself and not compare yourself with others.

    1)set realistic goals
    2)weight loss progress should not be measured by the number on the scale (use inch tapes for measurment and try to gain muscle and loose fat)
    3) bing on healthy eating
    4) if u have hit plateu taake a break
    5) drink pleanty of water
    6) liquid calories= sneaky calories look out for them
    7 ) do some weight lifting
    8) dont be stressed
    9) lack of sleep - sleep well for weight loss (7-9 hours)
    10 ) focous on nourshing your body
    Thanks me later xd

    2. You are losing without knowing- Focus on body fat and measurements
    3. Binging on healthy food
    4. Stuck in the same routine
    5. Lack of water
    6. Sneaky liquid calories
    7. Not lifting weight

Now because of Quarantine period I started to do diet again and I'm on 53kg right now. Joanna first of all, I want to thank you so much for your informative videos and thank you, that they are realistic and sensible! Especially when you hit the note concerning being happy with our body when we come to our natural body weight! Since March 2020, I have increased my Citrus and other fresh fruits and vegetable intake, and even though it's unfortunate, on a bright note, I have not been eating out since the covid-19, and I've been cooking more at home , as well as increasing my spring water intake! Now I need to work on resting more and getting to bed early, because I have gotten to a place where sometimes I'm up until 2 a.m. and not even sleepy! I keep a platter full of fruit so that I will reach for it and forego chocolate! And I purchase two to three cases of Spring Water and I've noticed my cravings and hunger have began to dissipate since I've increased my spring water intake from three bottles a day to five! What other situation I'm dealing with, is I had somehow injured my hips back in November, and was unable to continue my 5 day a week, one hour of power walking, and I noticed a serious weight gain, I was very disappointed and upset because I didn't understand how to exercise without the pain, I could barely walk to my mailbox! I am much better now however I was wondering, do you have any stretching exercises that I could do for my hips and lower back, that would help me before I go walking, because sometimes when I go and walk a long distance I feel tremendous painful Tugs in my lower back and hips. Presently I keep a food journal of my caloric intake, and I am participating in the MOVE program, so that I can continue to be motivated in my journey towards positive lifestyle change eating!

    great tips for beginners Dear Joanna. For those who are a bit longer interested in fitness like me it is nothing new but always good to hear. I lost 15 kilos in total but it was a long process, I may say it took me 4 years. On the beginning I was "dieting" but it was ridiculous e.g. South beach diet and cutting all carbs. It makes one feel sleepy and lacking energy. The real results came when I started to move but for the beginning just literally move more, then to workout. And what really was behind my weight loss was dietary changes and switch to healthy Mediterranean diet when I moved to Greece and now to Italy. I am not saying I eat 100% healthy but no one has to. I enjoy burger, chips and pizza once a week. it's still ok as long as you eat healthy 80% of the time. The most important thing is to like your food otherwise it isn't going to be sustainable.

      Thanks for sharing Krysienka. I always enjoy reading your comments. =) I do believe in 80 20 too. Eat well for most part, and of course we can allow ourselves to indulge in moderation. I went from 65 kg to 57 kg and now I wonder why my weight won't budge. I realized the reason behind is because I'm gaining muscle from exercising and hearing her say it as well made me feel so reassured about my weight☺️

      @Diana-vc3dt 2 года назад

      How did you do it? 57 is my goal

    • @fullsun635
      @fullsun635 2 года назад

      @@Diana-vc3dt The first thing I did was actually count my calories but coming from current sources, it is not suggested and recommended that you do it. I started eating foods that are full of fiber, oatmeal being my favorite of them all, and eating fruits in places of snacks. I also came across intermittent fasting and intuitive eating. Intermittent fasting is when you try to set a time limit for eating and for fasting. I kinda adapted that lifestyle now and I guess it's much easier since I can only go for 2 big meals a day and maybe a snack on the side, which are most of the times healthy. Intuitive eating was also my way of being aware if I feel full or not after eating. It has been a great help when I did intuitive eating because I came in-touch with how my body felt every after meal. I try to eat a lot of proper home meals rather than take outs and enjoy the food rather than being in a rush to finish it to eat another serving. When you feel like it, you can eat junk foods if you really, badly want to and don't ever treat that moment as a failure. Think of it as a way to honor your hunger and enjoy it but not to the extent of over-indulgence. Try exercises that you are comfortable with and you feel excited to do, especially when you tend to get all competitive and you want to beat a record. I had that thing with my jump rope and everyday when I was trying to be active, I would challenge myself to do a thousand skips or 2 and would feel extremely refreshed every after I sweat. You can also opt for light exercises especially pilates. I also ran during the first few days of losing weight. Really got me going on my journey. Most of all, you need to have a good sleeping schedule and try to cope with stress in a healthy way. You can do meditation or journalling to help with that. Overall, you just really have to think of ways in positively changing your behavior towards yourself and towards the food that you eat. You should be mindful of eating right and exercising, but you also shouldn't stress about it so much that it takes over your life. It's okay to fail at some point, which happened a lot to me, but life's too short to dwell on failure. You can do it if you set your mind to it, and really if you set your mind to it, it won't be long when you see progress. This is quite long of a comment but I hope it helps😊

    I use to have anorexic habits and I was always worried about the scale. My biggest too to self love and still lose weight is: don't focus on the number on the scale, focus more on how YOU feel about what you see in the mirror. Also work on what you don't like. Yes, you can love yourself and still WORK on yourself. It's great. The workouts you should do: Chloe ting work outs. She's amazing and even set up an entire program for free! It focuses on whatever you choose. Good luck! It takes time!

    ,i was watching a weight loss program and i came across to your channel. And i became curious about the reasons why i am not losing weight though i am so discipline about my exercise routine and food intakes. #2 is so true to me. I always weigh myself in the scale and feel frustrated about the numbers in there. And then i tried fitting my clothes as you had said and it fits perfectly on me.
    This video is so realistic and it doesn't give us false hope about fitness progress. I'm happy that i found a perfect channel for me because i am so into fitness as well. Thank so much for creating and sharing an inspiring and encouraging videos for people like me who are into fitness and healthy lifestyle.

    in my opinion, the weight lost journey must be enjoyable. my brother taught me, everytime we break our record by pushing ourself, we must reward ourself. so, i treat myself with a ice cream yesterday. today, i go for a body massage. so we are motivated to go on. we don't have to wait until we reach the goal to rejoice. we should rejoice every small victory.

      Shambhavi Paradkar i have hormonal imbalance and acne around my jawline like crazy . I train 4 days a week combining cardio and strength training and brisk walk 3 days for variation and i don like my muscles just sleeping so i wake them up everyday even during my non training days. I also dont eat anything white. White rice , white pasta, white bread . I just eat brown rice , lean protein and nuts . My body is responding much better to my life style change. I feel healthier and happier now and the breakouts have reduced. Hope this helped.

    here's why liquid calories can be sneaky - your body doesn't digest them as easily as one might think. coz, lo and behold, we don't chew 'em !! And that's the singular most important obstacle in losing weight. Yep, when you chew any food, you add vital enzimes (in form of saliva that gets mixed while We chew). Chewing also makes way for mindful eating . If you chew well , your body digests even the not-so-healthy food easily. Come to think of it - you feel heavier after a chocolate milkshake than having a bar of chocolate, coz the milkshake goes straight to the stomach and leaves it with too much to do . And how does the stomach cope? by secreting more and more digestive acids which in turn creates an acidic enviroment inside our body which is never good. So start chewing your food ( for say, 25-30 times with every bite ) and you'll start losing weight before you know.
