    Man, I dearly wish some of these well reviewed monitors were brighter. I work on a 500 nits iMac, while me wife sits next to me, on a display that reaches 350 nits, and the difference is quite stark.

      @craigneidel  9 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, if you have bright work spaces that is a valid point. But, I normally use monitors in the 350 Nits range in my space and they are plenty bright and I normally need brighter screens on laptops where I could be outside. But I hear you.

    I watched your video a couple of months back. You made me buy a BENQ monitor (a similar model PD2725U(27 inches model version))(Yes, I have read other reviews) The colors are amazing. The fact that it was a factory calibrated was important in the buying decision. I have calibrated my Sony TV 4K HDR with my Apple TV and the colors were way improved. I was playing from my Mac on my TV (via airplay) but I was always disappointed when I get back to play on my old cheap Samsung 4K monitor. I have good vision so I run it in native 4K resolution. Thanks for introducing me to this brand and monitor. Soory for my bad english, I’m french canadian.

    I'm a big fan of the Benq 27" 2K display that I have owned for about 5 years. What I want for my next display is a 27" 5K display that I can run at 2.5K to get the Retina Display experience. Currently only Apple and Samsung make a display like that. I wish Benq would enter the market as I'm sure their product would be a good one and more competition should drive down prices.

    Hi Craig, did you encounter scaling issues? Internet is full of comments about the scaling issues people encounter after connecting a "non-apple" monitor to a Mac mini? For example, they can't set the resolution to 4k because the text and icons way too small? (after the update in MacOs, the scaling options are completely gone in the settings menu)

    • @craigneidel
      @craigneidel  4 месяца назад

      Craig, they sell for $1,300 because unlike Apple, Samsung and retailers will discount. It has a matte coating as well as an hight, tilt and swivel stand. That combination from Apple will cost over $2K. The BenQ you are showing is $1,100, without discount. So it is really a $200 difference unless you can find the BenQ on sale.

    It's always the speakers that let these monitors down. When you want a monitor to use with a Mac, and don't want to spend a fortune on an Apple Studio Display, the alternatives always have inadequate audio. Everything else is acceptable, but the speakers disappoint.

    Did you receive this monitor or you bought it with your own money?

    • @craigneidel
      @craigneidel  9 месяцев назад +2

      I am sent maybe 20 monitors per year like most creators. I only do a video on a few of them after testing them. This one was sent to me a while back and I didn't intend on doing the video since it's a higher price point then I'm used to on my channel, but after using it I had to make a video on this. The company didn't ask me to do anything specific or ask me to make any specific content. In fact, they didn't say it had to be positive at all and there was no pre-setup instructions in any way. In fact I could have told them no etc. on making a video. But, after using this one it was so good for a 4K large screen monitor, I made the video they way I did which was a very positive experience. Keep in mind that making a video takes many hours so in an essence creators do pay for the devices by spending 1-2 full days creating videos. But, we need to decide on what to make videos on since we are sent so much hardware. I normally just do product showcase videos where I go over specs more and say do your own research. This is one of the few I said it's a great one to buy since it was refreshing to see how well it works with almost no work to set it up on a Mac. This is one I would purchase over the Studio display due to the size of it if you need a ton of real estate. I would still buy the studio monitor in some cases but if you need 32" then this is one of the best option out there.
