      Hi ma’am,
I’ve been researching on menstrual cups since a long time now, but haven’t been able to find good quality menstrual cups in India. There is no relevant information as to which cup is good and I’ve bought 2 till now but either the size is an issue or the quality.
I’d be grateful if you could let us know some good companies from where we can buy these.
Also, I’ve heard many people say that we should use colourless cups since the coloured ones have chemicals in them. If you could please clear this doubt too!
      Thank you so much!
      Grateful for this channel :)

What are the chances of getting TSS from using menstrual cup? The internet says it is unlikely; however, we cannot fully rely on the internet source. And also, is it necessary to wash the cup with soap everytime we empty the cup?

Namaste Ma'am....I have tried menstrual cup six months ago. And for the very first time everything was okay but in the next cycle I experienced severely foul smell while emptying the cup. I got scared of getting any infection and discontinued its use. I wanted to use it keeping in mind the environment concern and also the convenience of use but couldn't find the reason behind this. Please help🙏🏻

What have I learnt from using a cup:
    1. Celebrate your minor wins - It will leak during your first few uses, but it's ok. Still better than a soaking pad and those sneezes and coughs which you couldn't bare!
You know that feeling when you sit and get up, you can feel the flow, doesn't happen anymore, yay!!
    2. You will get familiar with your anatomy, which will help you make the cup more leak free as you use it more. You learn to help yourself because slowly you understand the structure down there better.
    3. Try the cup on your third day/a day with less flow when you are trying for the first time so it's more manageable.
    4. You won't feel the cup inside you if it fits you right. Else it will stick out ( too big) or go way too in (too small).
    5. If you are someone who feels like pooping a lot during your period, it will make the cup leak slightly cause your muscles will cramp.
    6. For beginners if you are not able to put in the cup, try to lie down (like how they show in movies while pushing a baby - to help your imagination). This will help you put it in more easily.
    7. It won't get lost inside, slowly insert a clean finger and you will be able to locate it. Then you can push it down by pushing it (make motions similar to when you try to poop and push thr cup).
    8. Keep the suction holes clean and clear while inserting, this will help keep you leak free.
    All the best 👍😁

@@Umeed_01 don't worry, you won't have any problem with peeing while the cup is in there, as women have three passages, a urethra (from which we pee), a vagina (in which a cup is inserted) and an anus (in the order of their position from front to back), so inserting the cup has nothing to do with peeing, but I have heard that while having a bowel moment, there are chances of cup popping out.

To all those who can't insert it properly or who have problem opening it inside-
    Sharing my experience-
1st day of using (I wasn't on my period, just tried inserting the cup to practice) - insertion was smooth as I have used a tampon before.. I thought that it opened up, but later when I removed it, I realised that it actually didn't.
2nd day of using - Both insertion and removal were smooth and I thought that it opened up at that time but a few days later I figured out that it still didn't.
3rd day of using (got my periods) - Didn't open up but there was no leaking as the flow was very very less.
4th day of using (2nd day of periods) - At this time I thought that I was used to the cup and thought that it had been opening up inside me. But, on this day the cup was leaking.. that's when I realised that it hadn't been opening properly.
5th day of using (3rd day of periods) - There was no leaking and finally figured out the right way of insertion. Realised the following things-
    1. Previously when I used to remove the cup by pulling the stem, it used to come out very easily as no suction was created. But on this day, it wasn't coming out easily which means it has been inserted properly.
    2. Earlier I didn't feel the base of the cup rounded when it was inside me but on this day, I finally felt that round part which again means that I opened up as there were no folds.
So, that's what I felt I did right during insertion on the 5th day of using it-
After doing the punch down fold, I held the cup from the middle but slightly closer to the upper part and then inserted it in. When it was about halfway inside such that the folded part was in, I stopped for a while. The rounded base of the cup was still out. So I very gently held the base and pushed it in. During this process, I actually felt the cup opening inside. Now to further make sure that it opened up, you can go about the base with your finger. You'll feel the rounded base very very prominently. Now just push it in further by holding the base so that you don't feel the stem sticking out. Then, I also tried to pull the stem but the cup didn't start slipping out easily. (You may FEEL that the cup is coming out, but it is actually not. You may feel it because of its MATERIAL, but you would be able to feel the actual resistance so that you know it doesn't come out.)
So hope all of this helps, all the best!

Drawback is that, you will always need a proper hygienic good washroom to empty the menstrual cup..

      1. After inserting, just put your one finger inside and try to feel the cup around.. if you feel any kink or bend in the cup, it's not inserted properly..
      2. After inserting, try to pull out the cup by holding the stem.. if cup starts to come out very very easily and smoothly, then it's not opened up.. you will clearly feel the bend in the cup that time.
PS:- you just have to make sure that the cup has opened up after insertion

I have been using menstrual cup for more than a year now. I haven't faced any issues as such. Sometimes inserting the cup takes long time specially when you are on you first day (because of the friction). Afterwards it gets easily inside the vagina. I would definitely recommend all women to use the cup. It's life changing. Now I feel weird using pad. Go eco-friendly. It's scary in the beginning. But once you start using it, you will love it.

I'm also a teen and cup user!
Tbh, I just used pads for one cycle and just from that one cycle, so many clothes of mine were ruined, and I got so bad rashes!
      The cycle was of 7days.
And since the very second cycle, I've used cups!
And just so that you know, the first time you try to insert it, it'll be very painful!
      Though it's not necessary!
Cuz if you have a hymen, then only it'll hurt. But if you're an active person, or due to some reason, you don't have a hymen, then it won't be that big of a deal.
I personally had experienced so much pain! It was the most painful thing I remember till this day(am 15).
I couldn't stand the pain, and I left it. But tried again the other day.
Now, I'm thanking myself for not giving up on the cup!
And I highly recommend you to try it! Cuz it's life changing! It's the definition of 'freedom'!
And if you're still not sure, it need any help, I'd love to! And I've done quite a lot of research about it. So I think I'll be able to answer most of your questions and clear any queries you have!

This is very helpful. Been trying to use MC on my previous last two periods. But I am still having leaks maybe because I am using a wrong size of cup. Will be switching to large size since I already gave a vaginal birth last year. The steps on how to put it in is very detailed and for me helpful.

After pouring the boiled water immediately put the cup inside the mug and wait for few minutes.. there we go.. The cup is sterilized now n you can use it

Will there be backache or lower abdomen pain, when cups used? How we will know whether the cup inserted is in correct position or not?

    • @zeni-ee4vl
      @zeni-ee4vl 3 года назад

There is no pain due to menstrual cup. At least if placed properly. To know if it's properly placed you just have to go through trial and error until you figure it out ... But some general advice would be to twist the cup after insertion and try to pull it out, if it's fixed and you feel a suction, it's properly placed, otherwise you need to twist and bend more.

Now I have started reducing the heat once the water reaches boiling temperature and don't boil it for more than 5-7 minutes! And I've also tried getting it to open properly after insertion. Finally been able to master it! I made a detailed video on my channel if you're interested. I hope it helps :) ruclips.net/video/FZAH0d-17Yw/видео.html
