Why Players Believe Jrue Holiday is the Best Defender in the NBA

- Jrue Holiday has been one of the most underrated players in the league especially on the defensive end. After he was snubbed out of the All-Defensive team, many players came to his defense. And so today I break down why players believe this by showing how he was able to slow down Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Daniel being the GOAT once again.
This is what ive been saying for years . Kids dont know defence . For them block is the only defence😂😂😂😂
@@lalroa5 block or a strip. But u right. Communication is just something fans don’t get a chance to hear enough to appreciate fully
Jrue is insane and doesn't get near enough respect from everyone expect the players and the Milwaukee organisation.
My boy got a mf bag
Pels fans too
What do you mean? dude signed a max contract
@@harmeharkhanna4225 that's why I said the Milwaukee organisation.
But he doesn't deserve the max, he deserves the super max.
I think that clip at the end where kd gives the ball up in the final minute so Kyrie can iso against PJ TUCKER says a lot
It says so much. That's literally, I don't really want that smoke right now.
@@chukwukaemmanuel6015 or because it’s a better matchup you weirdo
@@EliteMaroon that's what they were sayin :I
@@EliteMaroon it's a better matchup because jrue is so good
Like if it was trae young or something it would make sense but tucker can defend well and they prefered their best player passing the ball away because of how good jrue is
@@EliteMaroon right 💀
4:06 That footwork so smooth to slide the screen
He’s an nba champ. He showed out
I'm here after Jrue's game saving steal♥️♥️♥️
I could easily watch a whole hour and a half of Daniel breaking down Jrue’s defense
Holiday is such a great guy too, we all love him in Milwaukee
As somebody who has been watching Jrue for a while he is in my opinion the most consistently underrated player in the league.
People don’t care much for defenders. Seemingly more fun to watch giannis
Mike conley : Hold my beer
@@darnellthompson7190 He's definitely up there as well
Him and Reggie Jackson
same with middleton. milwaukee is like home to the underated
And considering how he made that crucial steal off of Booker in Game 5 in which Jrue subsequently converted into an awesome alley-oop pass to Giannis is a testament to his phenomenal defense and basketball IQ.
This aged Well after the way Jrue guarded Kd in game 7 of the Bucks-Nets
Kd is built different and they won either way so it don’t matter
What about trae young ?
@@juniordutervil4732 right! 😂😂game 7 kd had 49 i think and game 1 ecf young had 48
@@overlordjenkins8885 game 7 it wasnt only jrue guarding kd
Trae young also sent him to the shops with the crossover shimmy 🤣 this vid didn’t age well at all
Love it! That's a man doing his homework, studying his opponent, executing his game plan, and involving his teammates properly when help is necessary, not required. I love it!
Jrue Holiday 🐐
It’s dope you broke down his defensive prowess from a skill standpoint in regards to where his hands are positioned and hips as well instead of just rambling on about stats.
Jrue is so underrated as a valuable defender down the stretch. He can make stops when needed
u uploaded this as soon as i got donuts delievered to me thanks bro love u
donuts be hitting different to yt vids
Bro Did you get a maple old-fashioned??
@@gaganbhullar6137 original glazed, they were great tbh
@@Jack-no2zp The Charles Barkley Donut
Its not too late
Love the hot mics in your videos, how do you isolate the sound so clearly? I can never pick up the voices like this in-game.
I agree. Hearing the players communicate on the floor really lets us understand their strategy on the fly. They kept adjusting every play.
Fourier Transform
@@txibitinha Ahh a man of culture. Respect
It also showed another aspect of why Holiday is a great defender. He communicated in live time when to help him. He said "stay there stay there" when Kyrie turned Baseline and then when he knew Kyrie would be going for a shot he said "get there Brooke". Communication is such an underrated aspect of defense and to do it on the ball is even more difficult.
@@tonyschimmoeller so true, especially at a amateur basketball level communication on defense can completely separate a team from the next.
Had much respect for Holliday when he played here in New Orleans.Happy that he is a champion.
the way he gets around screens is so smooth...like they cant even slow him down sometimes
This why they're going to beat Miami. He's going to put Dragic, Herro, or Nunn in prison.
he just smoke them last night😂😂😂
Herro and nunn fell off a cliff so that’s not very hard to do.
Or even Jimmy and Duncan.
Bruh I came here after watching that game 3 😭 jrue really caged the whole Miami heat
@@fojemo1661 no , It's Giannis who is locking up Jimmy, you can see he take it personally
This was the most fool proof breakdown with really good clips and audio
Here after the ring👏👏
Excellent analysis. Jrue is so much stronger than most other guards and in that respect he reminds me a great deal of Oscar Robertson. He also has really quick hands, which accounts for a lot of his steals, including the iconic steal off of Booker at the end of Game 5 of the finals. Anyway, this video is really well done.
People think you have to be athletic to be a good defender or a good player overall. Yes being athletic will help, but basketball IQ isn't something that everyone has. This guy is playing chess when everyone else is checkers.
D.Holiday is athlethic as F. All that moving on defense requires mad cardio, drilling, and athleticism. He is very strong too. He could easily be a beast of a defensive back in the NFL.
If u want to be a good defender u gotta be athletic. Almost every single good defender in the league is athletic
Jrue is crazy athletic tho, that’s why he’s an elite defender as well as the IQ
@@sh0cktim3 Y'all think I don't see Jrue as athletic? read my comment again, people really need to read smh.
@@jaypc6680 Y'all think I don't see Jrue as athletic? read my comment again, people really need to read smh.
Jrue reminds me of a close friend of mine. The guy just nailed defense as soon as he started playing organized ball. Lenghty dude who's quick, sucked playing offense against him lol.
you should watch him schooling Love when he was a pelican. Shit was hilarious to watch, a guard locking down a PF
Love this channel man the way you use metaphors to help people that are trying to understand the game better understand whats going on in the game, even though you have gained many subs these past few weeks you are still the most underrated channel
Lakers vs Warriors needs a vid, great content my friend!
Second this
I will never forget what Jrue and Rondo did to the blazers in the playoffs. Hearing he actually got snubbed is pathetic, I honestly didn’t pay attention to awards but he definitely deserves all the credit in the world for his consistent defense
As a Suns fan, I’m most worried about this guy! Book gets frustrated against good defense and he usually starts forcing things.
Truer words have never been spoken before
Loving the videos bro
Its playoff time! I hope you're crunching those videos out! Best time of the year for basketball and need some great analysis from your channel!
Asked for it last video and you delivered!!
i seen ur vids before but damn u dissect this things like no one else .
its way more exciting and interesting then another "top 10 players with jersey 23" video
Thanks for the video breakdown. Being a huge Bucks fan my whole life, I wasn't too sure about Holiday but after this breakdown, yea he's alot better than I personally thought.
love these videos man. keep doing what you do!
Been hearing about this cat Dru on D non stop...But you're the first guy to do a vid that I have subbed to. Great content.
Nice analysis mane! I enjoyed watching your videos.
2:40 oh my god, look at how smothering his defense is. That is intense
He's so strong bruh😭
make a vid on the LAL vs GSW game
Love this one ser. Thanks
Damn I’m late ! Great content once again brother. Can’t wait for you to hit 1 million subscribers !
Love this video players need there recognition especially the ones overlooked do you social media
This nets & bucks series should be crazy.
Fantastic breakdown. Thanks!
a true OG thank you for the content
Crazy this popped up on my recommendation, when bk just advanced to face bucks in the semi this gonna me a good matchup!!!
great video man!
This was really dope. Thanks.
Daniel, I like these kind of breakdown videos which show what the "TV analysts" ignore.
Informative af I learned how to play defense cause of this video 🔥
Do an update and break down Holiday’s D in the Finals.
people dont even KNOW how much he contributed to that ring in the finals. it wasnt just one steal for a w. the entire series he was a dog and completely had cp3 on tilt.
This video breakdown of the bucks defense is professional level
Good analysis!
great content bro keep it up
Thanks for the breakdown.
'He got my hand' Yes kyrie, thats part of the ball..
😭
Except for the fact that Jrue mostly hit Kyrie's forearm that wasn't touching the ball...should've been a foul.
Jrue still a great defender though.
@@LordStark0 17 people disagree with you.
Jrue be reaching tho, watch how Jrue's forearm hits Kyrie's face
@@LordStark0 That wasn't his forearm, the forearm is above the wrist guy
Hi Daniel! I am new to your channel. I love your content and great analysis. I liked and subscribe
Finally someone who knows the game like me man respect ✊ I just subscribe bro keep making these videos it will pay off I’m tryn figure out how I can get involved in this type of content I know the game from a player and coaching aspect
Love seeing this kind of players. I remember Tony Allen defense
Great video! Helps explain why Jimmy is having such a hard time in the playoffs if even KD and Kylie struggle against Jrue.
Interesting video!
great video
This channel is so underrated
Great showdown! 👍🏻
Great analysis
This was a great video, short and concise. You could have actually gone into so much more depth but you kept it to high yield, which is great in a short video.
But just to elaborate on it, look at Jrue's footwork, its impeccable, he does everything he can to try and stay in front of him. He also knows who Lopez is defending, when Lopez defends Blake, Jrue doesn't want Lopez to sag off too much because of the 3pt threat which is why jrue cuts off the baseline. And then as you said, when Lopez is covering DJ, jrue can now use the baseline as another defender, and allow Lopez to sag off DJ knowing there is no 3pt threat. All the while keeping in front of his man and disrupting using his hands and strength.
Whoah this is amazing 😮
Great video
What bothers me is that this is unknown to a lot of guys, he's been this guy for years.
That's crazy how he just directs the defense and tells people were they need to be in order to get the stop❗
i am a simple man, i see daniel, i drop a like.
Great vid! More vid on defensive analysis please
Cant believe some nba scout said he is an overrated defender
That scout is an absolute idiot.
That was obviously Eric bledsoe
I trust that scout more than kd on this matter
Who said that they must be dumb asf 😂😂
1:49 sounds exactly like 2k. 😂😂😂
They probably get some of the sounds from the nba
870 likes no dislikes... my guy speakin facts!
Great video. Would be better served analysing Playoff footage when you can though especially in regard to defence. Both the defender and the scorer are giving 100% in a playoff setting.
This channel is going to blow up watch
Are you here from the legendary steal?
Hey man, love the video it's really interesting to see how Jrue defends and what exactly makes him a good defender. My buddy and I were talking about the possibility of the Lakers and Jazz series when he mentioned that Rudy Gobert would get exposed and we're both Sixers fans so we know how Simmons feels about Rudy. Why do you think Rudy is considered a good defender?
I remember watching him guard k love while in Nola. Unreal he can guard the post against an elite big man scorer like that.
Before jrue established any other attribute he was known for his elite defense back in Philadelphia
Here after his big game 5 in the finals
I love this type of defence, Jrue Holiday, Lu Dortz etc etc
marcus smart
Jrue is a true gentleman and a great player. One of the most underrated players in the league. He doesn't get lot of attention cuz he either played on bad teams (sixers during the process) or Indiana. Then he took that time off to care for his wife. You can't find a more class act in the league!
I don't think he ever played in Indiana
@@almostkinda for a short stint he did
@@HEEHEEBOII nah
I got this video as soon as I see a report that said NBA execs don’t think Holiday is a good defender.
The fact that Holiday can guard a near 7 footer in Durant is telling on it's own
This aged so well🙌🏾
Great video dude. Word to the algo
This aged really well
Did it. Did it really. 🧐❄️
Bruh trae young had him looking like a terrible defender
You were correct with every analysis.
I'm glad i learned something from this video
flawless video
Wow... this is GREAT
Very cool vid, i was hoping Holliday would join the Mavs...
524 like 0 dislikes. love to see it
Do a video on Dennis Rodman's genius on post defence, especially against Shaq. I haven't seen anything like it since then.
that footwork man
Jrue Smart Dort hope these guys win a ring definition of hustle
1:49 - Yup...it would be .... I'm going with the Bucks in Seven 😉 (no matter what Brandon Jennings says😏)
