The key to this type of sound is the group singing in chords instead of just an individual. ( and a little reverb ) Unfortunately, a practice abandoned in modern times.

Doowop (group harmony) and Rockabilly are still alive overseas: Spain, UK, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Korea - just not here. There is a fantastic girl group in Japan - the Oh!Sharels, the KingTones, in Spain the Velvet Candles and the Earth Angels, in UK the Roomates, the Firebirds, in Sweden the Boppers and on and on. There was a great group in the 80s and 90s called the Chanels then Rats & Star then Gosperats with lead Masayuki Suzuki and bass Barry Soto.
Richard Calabrese no wonder Pittsburg never made it big. Bunch of local song, not many national hits. Oh well, at least we had greater Los Angeles and Chicago groups ;-)

They did have an opportunity for success beyond this charming 45. My Dad who managed them, had bookings in California. Joe (my cousin; tenor vocal), George & Bob (all lifelong pals), agreed to relocate. But from I was told, Sonny’s (lead vocal) wife did not want to come out west. The rest of the guys did, & Sonny ended up performing around the greater Pittsburgh area for a short while, until the untimely single-car accident that ended his life prematurely.
This song came up in my thoughts. Nice to come back to it. I'm a 19 year old doo wop lover. This music will never die.
