Write me a letter, drop me a line
Tell me dear you love me
And pray for me all the time
‘Cause darlin’ I want to know
    If you’re still mine
    Since you’ve been gone
    Since we’ve been apart
    Darling I’m so alone
    With an aching heart
I hope that you love me
    Like I love you
I hope your love for me is still true
    Girl if you leave me
    I don’t know what I’ll do
I’ll be so sad and so lonely
Now darling, will you believe me
If I say you’re my one and only
    Write me a letter
    Send it today
I’m very anxious to hear what you have to say
I hope that you love me like I love you
I hope your love for me is still true
    Write me a letter

Good point. Guess the day of the "love letter" is over.
Those cryptic anagrams, s.w.a.l.k, b.u.r.m.a. et al. Kids miss out on so much now.

Letters were great back in the day when computers, smartphones, and I-pads didn't exist. One would write a letter or give a note to girl as long as she didn't respond with a letter in red ink. Which was a letter of hatred or hostility. But if she responded with a letter writing in blue or black ink than it was Ok. This was before Social Media when letters or notes were just between two people. Anything now posted on Social Media just about the entire world knows what's going on. But those days were great if a girl received a letter that's what made her happy. She knew then that someone likes her or perhaps was frustrated if it was from someone she didn't like. But letters were great receiving one from that special someone.

The letter was returned to sender (Elvis) because it didn’t have this square sticky thing on it’s corner. What does that do?

Too bad producer George Babcock didn't spend a couple of extra bucks on the studio and mixing; this could have "happened." Still, nice to hear this.

This is just fine as it is...those who recommend tweaking did not themselves become record producers : enough said!

@@mickeypip1524, but I DID become a record producer. The Fabulous Dudes is my harmony group; we're on RUclips.

No, this song is perfect the way it is. The low fi sound of a lot of doo wop recordings is one of the reasons I love them so much.
