This video is the proof that this system works. I know so many guys in the industry that just won’t change and don’t want to accept other methods. Great job on the video guys
There is one other Major element of a hurricane 🌀 that you guys forgot about while conducting the hurricane test! It's unfortunately a big deal! The Water factor! The ground is totally Saturated where the posts are set and you also have the hurricane strength winds mixed with heavy Rain. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! And that's gonna mean another trip to Florida for another testing!
Excellent fundamental tests, Mark! You are right - manufacturers rate wind resistance claims differently. Not all use the ASTM tests!! In the real world, Hurricanes saturate soil and the soil often becomes the weak link. Let's use a model like power line pole installations. There are specs for depth, soil compaction, or support (foam, concrete, aggregate). Wet soil conditions dictate proper install method (concrete in hole or pile driving either with or without additional support media).
Testing against postmaster coming anytime soon, using different picket pattern. Standard/board on board/shadowbox/horizontal. I’d assume horizontal being strongest since 6’ oc typically and all connection points.
This is a cute way to make a fence “hurricane proof”. Let’s see how it does against the projectiles that actually fligh around during a real hurricane. After the next three hurricanes takes your plastic fence away you will have spent much more than making it out of concrete to begin with. Cinder blocks concrete and rebar still king and it is not as expensive as people think. There are many concrete fences around my house here in Puerto Rico that were made like four generations ago and will last another 100 years. We get hurricanes and storms just about every year. However, since house turnover in America is so fast I can understand why people use this type of fence. They do look great, are easy to clean and pretty much there is no maintenance involved. Great video to show the city folk how things are made! What would they do without tradesmen?😂
You guys ROCK! Absolutely rock. I don't know how I stumbled on your channel last year, but you have the best content & personalities. KUDOS from Tampa Bay.
And just like that you proved the naysayers wrong and created the best possible ad for SWi. That’s pretty amazing actually that they held up that well. Noice. 👌
Great job !!! When you build things the right way it works . It cost a little more but cheaper in the long run. I ran across some fence guys and they said concrete was the only way to go ( I guess they or non believers ) I told them to watch y'alls videos. Thank you for making these videos they are educational & funny as well . wishing y'all a good dang day .
I live in an area in NC with lots of farm land and therefore no tree breaks so our regular wind is 20 mph. I paid extra to get our posts for our fence 3ft deep instead of 2.
Post Milton here. I just repaired my 2 year old pro fence installation with concrete but want more strength. Can I add the metal pole after the fact? I’m in Palm Harbor.
Another great video. How well do you think a hybrid approach works, where you place a concreate plug on top (12" diameter x 12" deep hole or 12x12x12 cube) of the 24" to 30" deep driven steel pole? It is likely cheaper and faster to just pound it down 12" to 24" deeper, but if you already have a hole or dont have a pounder? Maybe drilling a 3" hole another 12+ inches down inside a 12" dia 12" deep top hole might be a good way to go for some people (minimal drilling, concrete and pole length)? Clearly slower.
Now that was bad ass, was not expecting them to do better than concrete. I like what I see when you opening shop in Oregon? so I can come work for you all.
I'd be curious to see the 2ft test and 3ft test with post anchors. Post anchors come in clutch in loose soil types and conditions you may not be able to reach your desired drive depth due to obstructions in ground
So. What's inside your corner post's, metal post ? What if you installed wood 4 x 4 inside the vinyl post, secured good, and concreted down to the correct depth?
Great videos guys!! What kind of fasteners are you using in the Dewalt gun to attach the post collars. We use self drilling hex head screws but your method would definitely save some time.
Having Vinyl fence in the ground for well over 20 years in Florida without a single wind damaged fence, all I can say is follow your manufactures instructions on how to install. They will be the one covering the warranty if installed correctly and lastly, there is no such thing as hurricane proof. Hurricane rated is a play on words that will just lead to disappointment. With that being said. Definitely impressed with the driven system. Not sure it's as efficient or cost effective though, of course that's all relative to what your customer is willing to pay for.
Wonderfully done yet again (both versions)! And I declare that I found nothing offensive (yet). This is a dramatic demonstration that what may appear to be logical may be incorrect. I really thought this was going to be a demonstration that a fence could not possibly stand without concrete. I'm happily disabused of that notion. I particularly enjoyed the short section (5:13-5:30) wherein you displayed samples of flying debris and their impact upon the fence. The pole sample clearly did it in while the stool sample was a turd. It would have been amusing, but of course done only for the advancement of science, if you had tossed one or two of the Haxman's chickens into the wind. Maybe then they'd actually be quiet. Can't wait for the next!
Question for SWI. What if I used iron pipe, with cement 3 foot deep of the same diameter as those galvanized post? How do you feel the iron pipe would hold up? Thanks in advance.
@@SWiFence I believe those are the post master steel posts, do you know where I can buy these in Florida? Don’t mind driving out to pick them up but I called a couple places yesterday using Master Halcos vendor locater tool on their website but they told me they don’t do non contractor sales, I’m going to pull the permit and DIY the installation myself.
I think Home Depot typically carries them. If you're anywhere around St. Augustine we carry Tritan posts you can buy there. Same thing, different brand. (904) 502-4361
Hey guys, I have really rocky soil, here in new england. Do this method work good for me my situation. Good god, digging through the rocks take like 2 hours a hole….
I’m a northeast fence guy for over 20 years, I’ve moved to NW Florida and I agree 100% they don’t do it right here at all!!! They dig mouse holes and use 60# bags I came from using 80# bags on 3’ deep posts here it’s 2’ deep or 2.5’ deep with 60’s and same on gates posts which blows my mind and I’ve tried to tell these clowns here this isn’t how it should be done we need 80’s and multiple in gate posts with 9’ inserts they use 8’ inserts and much shorter posts as I’ve mentioned!! It’s nice to see this and make me believe there are companies that give a shit and do really good work !!!!
Who installs these 'awesome "NoDig" Vinyl Fences on the Eastern Shore of Virginia!, north of Virginia Beach??? We have a quote for Shadowbox Fence with 3x3 rails top & bottom with mid rail 2x3.5" with aluminum reinforcements inside rails. EXCELLENT VIDEOS! Thanks. Come to Onancock, VA!
I really like your videos and thank you for them. I just want to say as a 76 year old lady I do not like your music. The volume of your voice is good then you play that loud music. The music would be fine just not so loud. Thanks again
Three bodies in front of the fence are providing a good wind break for the fence. Put the tester out there on a steel pipe and get out of the way and re do these tests.
If you didn't catch our video where we run the hurricane test on vinyl fence set in concrete, don't miss it! ruclips.net/video/_iQnheVwAI4/видео.html

1" concrete nails shot in with a concrete nailer.
Love it , this is what I’m looking for , where can I order it from ?

Good test. My only question is would it make a difference in an enclosed yard with multiple panels together and nowhere for the air to skirt around

what kind of nailer are you using for that collar attachment?
so, if a hurricane is coming, remove fence panels along with installing window shutters?
That belongs in any and every fence installation class or discussion period, end of sentence. Now mic drop from the Olson boys.
I'd like to see a video where the vinyl fences 6 ft and 8 ft high have a metal insert in them to see if they stand up to strong winds!
Question for SWI. What if I used iron pipe, with cement 3 foot deep of the same diameter as those galvanized post? How do you feel the iron pipe would hold up? Thanks in advance.
It may rust out faster without the galvanized coating.
Another classic video. 👌
Your guy for got hurricane always come with heavy rain, that make more stronger force than what you do now.
Is there a way to use those posts but with wood panels instead ?
This is what we use for wood fences: ruclips.net/video/Ocr73Lmo9O8/видео.html

What would you degusto in indiana clay, the pounded post method or having H beams @108" in in each post? 300' wind prone fence
Hey guys, I have really rocky soil, here in new england. Do this method work good for me my situation. Good god, digging through the rocks take like 2 hours a hole….
How would the driven method work behind a small retaining with 3 feet of compacted gravel, or would it work?
It works a lot better than trying to dig a hole. We recommend going at least an extra foot deeper though.

Are you moving the airboat around with the Bobcat? I had a friend running his airboat and the trailer got pushed through his shed.
We are! Fortunately no issues. 👍🏻
What is the name of the red peace that goes around the post

Where are the brand names to these fences?
Ah...rail locks...I've been trying to convince my boss to start getting us rail locks for so long....
Your not soaking the ground. My vinyl fence didn't fail in the last hurricane but it did lay over . I'm in Holiday Florida
Absolutely magnificent. That's about all I have to say about that👍🍻

Wish we could!
The crew being able to stand in front of the fence demonstrates that the breeze is less than 120 mph.
Fence Friend is cheaper and resists more.
Rail locks is the biggest take away i got from this. It didnt look like you used them on the last video wirh the concrete.
115mph is nothing our last storm was sustained winds of 155mph, It may make it, but I doubt it.
Thirty second hurricane? The test was good but a true hurricane test would be under 18 hours of pressure from all sides.
Ok. 😆 Send your wheelbarrow full of cash and we'll get started on that version. 😁
Do you think the concrete ones would somehow magically perform better under those circumstances?
I really like your videos and thank you for them. I just want to say as a 76 year old lady I do not like your music. The volume of your voice is good then you play that loud music. The music would be fine just not so loud. Thanks again

Driven posts are the way.
