This is the best explanation of the differences between ocean and river cruises that I have seen and combined with your videos it is easy for us to decide on our preferences. Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial.
The word differences is misspelled in your thumbnail photo FYI!
Love you guys
An excellent explanation of the two types of cruises. We have done one American River cruise from Memphis to Nashville and loved it. They had both enrichment and entertainment each day that featured local artist playing local music. It’s different in that it was a American flagged ship with an American crew. Very friendly and really helpful. Much more layer back and very relaxing. In May we are going on a river cruise on the Snake and Columbia rivers.
Alisa you do such a good job of describing the differences. River cruising is a whole different experience. Some folks will do river cruises but won’t do ocean cruises, but almost all ocean cruisers I know also love river cruises. River cruises are much more intimate and you have so much more opportunity to get to know your fellow travelers. Alisa, you should also check out some of the non-Americanized lines like TUI.
Great video. We are going on our first river cruise in May. Doing the Snake and Columbia Rivers. Looking forward to a new experience. Love yalls videos.
Excellent video. Thank you!
Great thorough explanation of the differences between the two types of cruises. I enjoy your videos.
Thank you, Alisa, this is a great lesson to learn River Cruise 101 and I enjoyed it a lot, and good to know.
Very Nice Superb Video
Great comparison video! We're avid ocean cruisers and did our first European river cruise with Viking. Cost comparison, the 7-day river cruise was much more expensive than our 12-day Celebrity cruises and you have to pay for the entire cruise with Viking, basically when you book. Not, 90 days prior to the cruise. We also did a Mississippi cruise with the American Steamboat Company and it, too, was amazing. We're Canadian, so this cruise ticked all of the historical boxes.
I would love to do a river cruise! I've done a few ocean cruises, but I love the multiple ports of a river cruise. Plus, I just love visiting Europe! Thanks for sharing
Please take on for the team and do a Mississippi cruise! But the Snake or Columbia would be great too.
Wonderful comparisons! Love your insights, thank you both for the ongoing, fantastic content. It is obvious that you love what you do, and each other!
Wow! My wife and I did a back to back wedding/honeymoon cruise.Starting with a Norwegian cruise out of Athens for the wedding and a river cruise for the honeymoon. We did the Rhine on the Amamora from Basel to Amsterdam. Loved it! We're already planning a Christmas cruise and one on the Danube.
Did AMA river cruise this past September. Did the Rhine and Moselle splendors. Loved the Moselle way better than the Rhine. Cute little small towns, beautiful vineyards and the AMA Prima was amazing. Loved seeing so many historical places! Loved that you didn’t have to worry about drink packages and that they didn’t care if you brought wine on board that you bought. Everyone one the ship was extremely accommodating and friendly. Can’t wait to do another AMA cruise!
We cruised with AmaWaterways March of 2022 on the AmaDolce. It was the Taste of Bordeaux cruise. We loved every single minute. Great advice to go with another couple!
I was born in Cincinnati, OH and now live a bit north of Cincy - I would love to do an Ohio River Cruise, even though I know a little about the Ohio River and a little less about the Mississippi. Then I'd like to do the Snake River.
Group River Cruise 🥰🧐
The only river cruise that I have taken was a 7-Day Nile River cruise in Egypt and I loved it. Currently, I am researching River cruise options on the Chobe River in Botswana and the Zambezi River in Zambia. While doing that research, I stumbled across a tour called Rivers & Rails of Africa, which looks pretty interesting. 😊
Fantastic video Alisa! We are considering a river cruise for the first time. I hate flying so that's kind of an issue!
What about difference in cost? I've heard river cruises are super expensive.
Just wanted to let yall know how much I have enjoyed watching your channel grow and evolve over the years, you are both doing a great job with the content and video creation and also with the education for all of us who tune in! 🛳️✈️⛱️🗻🌇
I love you videos but have no intention of going on a cruise (we’ve never liked crowds nor things organised for us, but have visited lots of places independently). A few years ago we hired a boat on the Norfolk Broads and completely fell in love with the freedom to skipper your own boat. So much so that we now own a share in a boat. Other river boat hiring options are on the River Shannon in Ireland and the Caledonian Canal in Scotland. There’s also a network of canals across England, Wales and Scotland where you can hire a narrowboat.
Oh my gosh you have me wanting to do a river cruise now!!😀
Great video
Great video ❤❤❤❤
While on the subject of river cruises ... I'm looking forward to your reviews of those U.S. river cruises you mentioned.
THANKYOU for such an informative video. Definitely has opened up our minds for future adventures
You did a nice job explaining the differences, except I think river cruises might be more expensive. In December my husband and I took a river cruise along the Mekong with AMAWaterways. Yesterday, I returned from a 5 night cruise with MSC to Nassau and Ocean Key. Previously, I've been on RC and two Windstar sailing ships. Maybe because I don't gamble and don't have kids who need entertaining, I prefer the much smaller boats. The experience is more personal. I'm also fine with "small" entertainment and relaxing with a book. For excitement and non-stop activity, take an ocean cruiser. For a quieter, slower vacation, take a river cruise.
Great video Alisa!! And yes, Dun Laoghaire is pronounced “Dun Leary” 🇮🇪 👍🏼
Great video, Alissa!!
Oh wow… Never been the first person of view a video before on this channel!
Great comparison. I really want to do the Snake River one or the one that goes around the island near Seattle. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the reminder and the difference between a ship and a river cruise I just wanted to see if you have heard of the comic con cruise on the Royal Caribbean cruise on February 5-9 2025 it's going to leave for the Tampa port is there any chance that you can get any tickets for the cruise ship it's a 4 day cruise
Alisa, one quick question, are there any river cruises for handicap people,I use a cane and a rollator but I would like to take a river cruise
Concerning air travel to get to your cruise. Coach/Prem-Eco/Business?
Have you taken an American River cruise? If so how do they Compare in experiences and prices?
Are you able to develop a group river cruise?
Unfortunately, I could not partake in this experience because, from everything I have been told most of them are not at all handicap accessible, and my wife is permanently in a chair… It does sound like fun though
We are interested in doing a river cruise because of your videos very informative and how much details of the adventure.
The river cruises do sound enjoyable. However the costs of airfare, hotels, and the river cruise make European river cruises prohibitively expensive except for a once or twice a lifetime cruise, at least for a retired military. I am not seeing why they are so expensive compared to a ocean cruise.
If your not part of a large group that is sailing on a river cruise it could change your experience if they turn things over to a group you. not part of. That’s giving me pause in my considerations as I wouldn’t have a big traveling group. Very informative comparison thx
I think it's because everything's included on a river cruise.
Gee, this would be like choosing your favorite child.
