6:05 I'd argue there were hints leading up to the cave painting scene. The first, and most obvious, hint is Sid's line, "So what about you? Do you have family?," during his first night with Manny and the latter briefly stares at Sid before turning away to sleep.
The second hint would be the scene where the trio visits the empty human village, and there's a brief moment where Manny has a glimmer of sadness in his eyes when the baby finds his bed and hugs it, reminding him of how happy his late child was.
I'd argue the third happens in the next scene when the trio must care for the crying baby. Manny's knowledge on stopping a crying baby might seem odd since this is his first time meeting a human baby, but maybe he learned why babies cry from being a father.

I LOVE the film and I'm glad I've watched your review. Your words make me think of the film in ways I wouldn't consider, like its similarities to 'The Lion King II: Simba's Pride.' That's a film I never saw, but I agree that Zeke (Jack Black) bares a striking resemblance to Nuka (Andy Dick).
