    Thank you, Greg, for the update video! We are in Louisiana and before making any changes outside the house need to be sure it works well in our heat. The idea with the tape is so clever!

      Sherwin williams makes "vinal safe" colors and some are dark. I chose one that is supposed to look black but really is dark brown. I actually think I like the dark brown now that it's on more than I woulda liked black. They don't use dark pigments in the paint so they use orange and blues ECT to achieve the dark color and it doesn't soak up the heat like a dark pigment. It is important to mix the paint well every time you use it since there is so much pigment in the paint they separate in the can. You open it up and see oranges and blues ECT. I just didn't wanna chance warping my windows with black paint so I went this route.

    Hi Greg! I like your videos! Can you do a video on how to pain the interior windows black? Or is it the same process

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  6 месяцев назад

      Howdy, partner! That would be a good idea for a future video, but it is not currently on the production schedule. The process would be the same. If you choose to spray paint in the house, be very careful and make sure that everything is covered for overspray. Good luck!

    The tape is very clever. And you spray painted the rest of the window frame? What kind of paint & prep?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  Год назад

      Thanks, partner! We used regular spray or DTM paint for these aluminum windows, but there is a special formulation for vinyl windows that deflects heat. Here's a link to the full how to video: ruclips.net/video/qimbv1hpbYQ/видео.html

    Hi Greg,
    I like the hack of using the electric tape for the grids, but how does it hold up when washing your windows with window cleaner or a power washer?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  8 месяцев назад

      Howdy, partner! It’s been a few years and looks like new. No issues with normal cleaning or intense weather. I haven’t tried a pressure washer yet.

    For vinyl windows would you recommend sanding the surface first before priming?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  10 месяцев назад

      Howdy, partner! The paint I used is direct to metal. There is a paint specifically for vinyl that even when black still reflects heat. I would look into that one for sure.

    Wonder if auto paint would work on prepped vinyl windows?
    Any feedback from viewers about vinyl windows?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  Год назад

      Howdy, partner! There are some special vinyl window paints that attract less heat. I would be sure to check out that option and maybe test on one small window before you tackle the whole house.

    Did you paint the inside black as well? How does it look with 2 colors if you didn't?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  11 месяцев назад +1

      Howdy, partner! No, the inside remains white, although you could absolutely paint the inside too if you desire. You can't tell that it is two colors from inside or outside, just looks black outside and white inside. Thanks for watching!

    What about painting vinyl windows that are under a porch roof and don’t get direct sunlight? Will the black paint warp the windows? My thought is no, but wondering if I’m missing something.

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  5 месяцев назад

      I would agree that I think warping would be unlikely without significant sunlight. They do sell black paint that is specially formulated for vinyl as well. Good luck!

    How do you know what material the window is made of?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  2 месяца назад

      Howdy partner! If it feels like metal it is probably aluminum, if it is smooth and softer when you knock on it then probably vinyl. You could also try to scratch the surface with a nail and feel if it is metal or plastic. Good question actually. Hope that makes sense!

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO

      Howdy, partner! Getting it off will require a scraper and some cleaning solution. Definitely a tedious job, but shouldn't happen too often I wouldn't think.
