I've watched this video multiple times since its been posted. In the past I've been fixated on the anger towards my father that I never stopped and appreciated the little things he was able to do for me. Like when I was learning to bake, my cookies were hard as rocks. While no one ate them, my dad would take the plate of cookies along with a glass of milk and enjoy them with pride. Each time gave me encouragement and each time I became better and better. Today, this video brought me to tears as he is no longer with us. It's been a year now since he's passed away, and sadly, it took his passing to understand life from another perspective. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe
I just cried at the end!, that was so moving! My Daddy is from Northern Ireland, as am I. He's my HERO now at 79 years of age and always has been since I can remember!!!!! Thank you for sharing this and so many other beautiful family recipes.
Hi. I just wanna say that I tried this yesterday and it was absolutely the best.. of all the trini bread recipes I've tried this one came out better than store bought.. also your doubles recipe was the best and since then I've only been using your recipes and methods.. ❤
TOT I have not had bread and channa since I was in primary school and boy did I love it. Your dad is your national treasure and it is good that you salute him everyday. That is love!! My dad used to bake sweet bread for his Annie (his name for me) and I loved it. He is no longer with me but every time I look in the mirror, I see my Dee Dee (I could not say daddy so Dee Dee stuck with all of us kids) and would go down memory lane. Enjoy those delicious hops and your great dad.
Thanks to ur dad for this best father's day gift recipe. I wish my dad were alive so I cook make it for him he would have done the same thing your dad does. 😢they are always proud of their girls. I also love long time penny loaves especially toasted on tawa with golden ray and crusty would love to know how that was made.thanks so much and Happy father's day everyday to your Dad❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your dad is the absolute best. 🤗 I hope he enjoyed his father's day to the fullest. I love your family Reshmi. I can feel the love among you all. My dad bakes bread and sweet bread.
My son, who's 8 and I watched this video and he said the bread is so fluffy, you have to make it. Big thanks to your daddy Reshmi for this beautiful hops bread recipe. My dad was the family roti cooker, whenever there was prayers or wedding he would cook all the roti, he doesn't do it anymore though. P.S. My son really wanted to see what you looked like so I showed him your Homemade Popeye's fried chicken recipe and now I have to make that as well.
Your dad makes the best hops bread. Interestingly, we used to call these 'penny buns' in the UK, and the porcini mushroom (boletus edulus) is still called a 'penny bun' for its resemblance to these delicious bread buns. Very interesting etymology of the name 'hops bread'. Much love to you and your family!
Amazing preparation. Yes you're right..we called it tennis roll 😋😋your tutorials are extremely explicit. Love to watch your videos. Keep up the good work!👍🏻💕
You learnt from the best Reshmi, your dad's hops look so divine...tks for sharing. I love the aroma when bread is baking. I made your bread recipe so many times and it's so soft and delicious, we never have leftovers.
I read about your dad via your sister's instagram and I found and instant respect for him. So I salute him and also thank him for sharing this recipe for all of us. Last Sunday on Father's Day I was still in the hospital, and as a nod to my father, I played nothing but Reggae in my room all day because that is his favorite kind of music. It sure made all the West Indian Nurses, Assistant's and other hospital staff happy, haha. Thanks for me making me drool with hunger again Reshmi! Haha
Hey! Yeah my dad went through a lot in life. He definitely is an inspiration my siblings and I. Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. Please keep me updated! Hope you are doing better now🙏🏽
Hey! Yeah my dad went through a lot in life. He definitely is an inspiration my siblings and I. Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. Please keep me updated! Hope you are doing better now🙏🏽
Great recipe. Turned out just as it is described. I cooked them in the oven for 25 minutes, buttered them then but them under a low broiler to brown them.
I grow up with my mom baking a lot of bread, hers use to be really rich soft and nice, so I will normally make mines the same, but I was always looking for a recipe like this one, a bit more firm and also soft, it looks delicious and definitely a try, great job once again
Yes you described that as I know it also !! Ground to the bakery with my pennies and seeing it coming out of the huge clay ovens on the banana leaf😍😋 then running back home to get it buttered with cheese😍😁 you took me back to my childhood days ....🙏
Wonderful video! Do you suggest a specific brand of white flour for hops bread and roti? Im goin shoppin today and I would love to know thank you 🙏🏽 ☺️
Thank you for sharing. You’re very lucky to have your dad. Happy belated Father’s Day to him. I lost my dad when I was 13 but I remember that he would tell my mom he could make better paratha Roti than she did. I lost my mom this April to Covid-19. I enjoyed your video and will try your dad’s recipe thank you again ❤️
Hey Deborah! Sorry to hear 😭 I can't imagine what you're going through right now. Stay strong ❤🙏🏽Sending love and positivity to you! Keep well and don't hesitate to reach out if you need a listening ear.
Taste of Trini awwwwe thank you. That’s very kind of you. Please continue to post your videos. I find them very comforting especially when you include your family and their traditions in it ❤️❤️❤️
I NEVER knew that they used hops male flowers extract ... and baked on banana leaves wow! The history of it is so cool. I’m sure baking it on banana leaves will still be a great idea. I’ll try it 😊
I've tried your recipe and they came out perfect just as you said soft and fluffy.. I added 2 tbsp powder milk.. Thanks reshmi for sharing your dad's recipe. It was awesome... Surely saving this recipe. ❤️🇹🇹

Some men just have that skill to bake and make some really good bread. My husband makes some really soft bread. Thanks for sharing to you and your daddy, this video is gonna turn me into a break maker. lol
Taste of Trini Hi next time I would do that, but my son say he didn’t taste the salt and he’s not a salt eater so I guess it’s the spread I put in it to taste the bread 🍞!!
Can the dough be baked as a loaf or it's much nicer as separate balls, easier for sharing? Need patience to make. But it's worth it, love it. 👌👌 Reminds me of my mum's rolls, it made the house smell heavenly! As soon as it was cooled they disappeared. 😃😃😃 Thank you Reshmi daddy. My late dad didn't bake but he could cook brilliantly.
Yes it van definitely be baked as a loaf. Yes, you definitely need patience and time with this 🙂 Glad to bring back memories for you. Aww that's nice ❤
Yum Yums..Happy Father's Day to your dad! My dad never cooked or baked but made some good punches. I distinctly remember the carnation, malta and red soft drink lol and there was one where he used fruit cocktail.
That got me craving for some Fernleaf butter and cheese. I will try your this recipe. We got ours from Haracksing's (SP?) bakery in Chaguanas way back in the day. Thanks for sharing your father's recipe.
Just seeing this; Your Dad is Boss with the Hops; looks delicious. My Dad is not around anymore :-) ; but he used to make the best Coconut Drops and Ice cream Floats.
Omg ah come home hungry waiting for aj to clean some gizzard n watched this. Now I going n quarrel for him to do faster. My husband only made pigfeet souse I'm sry u didnt get to taste it. My dad make an amazing fish broth n the best curry stew chicken I've tasted
Hi I know mastering the art of bread making is priceless. I made this today and it came out fairly well.it was not as light and airy as hops .please tell me how to get it like that
Hey! You have to knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic. There could also be an issue with your yeast. If you let it proof for too long, that can also cause the hops to be more on the dense side.
@@TasteofTrini thanks for replying but the yeast was fresh fermipan and I followed all your steps there was no proofing of yeast involved the yeast was added to the flour I don't know why maybe much salt🤔

Hey uncle! Well the guy who actually invented these is English 😁
His name is John Rapsey (not Ramsey as I wrongfully said in the video).
Amazing preparation.
Yes you're right..we called it tennis roll 😋😋your tutorials are extremely explicit.
Love to watch your videos.
Keep up the good work!👍🏻💕
I actually learnt how to make bread from my father as well. The way he knead the dough was amazing to me. Were done by hands.
Awesome recipe. Like father, like daughter. Good culinary skills run in your family!!!! Lovely family pics too.
Your house probably smelling so good 🤗 Awesome recipe. Cant wait to give it a try.

When I was in trini we had garlic cheese spread on our fresh bread. I have been trying to recreate it ever since.
Thank you so much for watching! Hope you get to visit again sometime. Was it at a restaurant in Chaguaramas? I think I know what you're talking about.
Taste of Trini no it was home made I was helping at a church in Diego Martin.
Love your measuring spoon
Thank you!
Love your videos. How do you make this hops bread but with a crusty exterior but soft interior?
Thank you!! 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes and don't brush butter when it comes out
Omg so I made this bread 🥖 was delicious soft and moist, a bit salty for me but other than that 100 💯 perfect... great job Dad!!
Hey! Glad to hear! My dad only adds a pinch of salt to his. I think I just eat way too much salt lol
Taste of Trini Hi next time I would do that, but my son say he didn’t taste the salt and he’s not a salt eater so I guess it’s the spread I put in it to taste the bread 🍞!!
Happy Father's day 💙

Those dinner rolls look amazing. But, aesthetics aside, your bread-making technique is tried and true.
Omg ah come home hungry waiting for aj to clean some gizzard n watched this. Now I going n quarrel for him to do faster. My husband only made pigfeet souse I'm sry u didnt get to taste it. My dad make an amazing fish broth n the best curry stew chicken I've tasted

Thanks for posting it Resh! Looks so pillowy soft. I know your dad prefers fermipan but its unavailable on Amazon. Which brand do you use?
Good Job Uncle! do you have a keto version of this?

Salt in a high quantity can retard the yeast, but not the amount we used. It could be how you kneaded it or how long you left it to rise.
This is amazing..BTW, is Daddy left handed too? 👍
Thanks! He is 🙂
Excellent 👍👍👍👌👌👌 I love brown hops😋😋
Thank you! Yes 🙂
I love my daddy broff or soup an dumpling wit stew beef
Nice!
Wow♥
Good day where do I find the recipe for your lovely hops buns
Hey! The ingredient list is in the description box. Click the down arrow under the video 🙂
Thank you
Sadly my dad passed away when I was 12 years . Nice video.
Thank you Reshmi Daddy for this top of the line Hops Bread recipe.. Finally ..... Thanks Reshmi.. for another great video... Keep Safe
Glad you enjoyed! I know you're vegetarian, so use butter/veg shortening instead of lard 🙂 Keep well also!
Best
How much bread did you get with this recipe.
Awesome!!! Great job. These look like soft fluffy clouds. What can my dad make 🤔. Does boiling water count? Lol
Thank you! 🤣🤣 that's funny!
Why is the one you made not as soft or fluffy as dad’s?
They are.
Happy Father's Day Daddy! Definitely trying his recipe. My Dad passed seven years now but he was a great Daddy. He was a taxi driver, he worked very hard to give us a good life. He thought us to work hard and to be generous. Daddy had the best laugh and use to make the best parasad. I miss him everyday and I wish he could have seen his grandson but I know he is looking down on us. To all those reading this treasure your Dads they may not be perfect, mine was not, but he loved us and would move heaven and Earth to make us happy.
Awww sorry to hear that. Sounds like he was an awesome Daddy. You have such great memories to keep close. Thanks for the advice ❤

Tell your dad I will try it
Okay nice!
This apple did not fall far from the tree. God bless.
Thank you! Keep well 🙂
I tried your recipe and it came out well just a bit too solid
Hey, did you knead the dough until it was elastic? If you don't knead it enough, it turns out hard. Also, there could be an issue with the yeast.
Taste of Trini I think it’s the kneading of the dough I’ll try it back another day 🙂 looking forward to more of your cooking vlogs
Yeah my faddah is ah real a$$hole but I making dis next weekend!
