I appreciate these styles of videos way more than standard “reviews”. 10-15 minutes talking about 2-3 pieces of gear…filled with PERSONAL opinions and actual use is WAY more helpful than diving into specs of a brand new item. We, the viewers, can look up any spec….I really want to hear how it all functions and suits daily life, whatever that may be. Don’t get me wrong I’m not bagging on “standard reviews” but I think the bonus is personal opinions on use. Thanks man!!
Huge fan of old blade HQ and your work, glad to see you doing your own thing keep them coming! Knives, tools, cars, and construction! Everything i love
I really like Blade HQ for staying on top of what’s popular and to keep informed on what’s going on within the culture but I can never forget that they are the very reason I even know about Zac and his channel now. For that reason alone I will always respect them.
Yeah it truly is. It’s the reason I clicked. Beautiful little edc. Wasn’t on my radar but it is now. So handsome. Copper has really caught my eye of late since I was recently getting into edc torches and I saw a couple of used copper variants. And I suppose the Para 3 with Maxamet steel I purchased earlier this year kind of started the ball rolling cause I love the look of the blade now that it has some patina to it. It’s far more attractive than I expected it to be. It really personalizes what your rocking in an interesting way. Really adds character without affecting what it is actually designed to do
EDC: Leatherman Micra (carrying mine for 20 years now! Still works like a charme), Opinel No.9 and - just got a new one after losing mine last year - Böker Exskelibur Cocobolo. 🥰
Really liked your take on the little fixed blade. A small every day fixed blade has been on my mind for a couple years. That one, and the sheaf look real discreet, and handy. Nice job man. Real informative.
Hi Zac in the WILD. Our small carry consist of a homemade fixed blade dad made for us. It is smaller than the Mikro with a kangaroo skin sheath, instead of magnets we have velcrove. It could be a neck knife also fit comfortably in the 5th pocket even a boot knife. When riding bikes we put it in a specially made attachment on out gloves. Our back up is a Honey Badger which is conceal in our helmet. The multitool is an OzTrail with the usual neccessity including a 3 sided file which we use as a pry bar. Dad pimped our Honey Badger with Olive wood & fatwood inlays & as you know most HB has crisp spine. Few addition to our multitool but won't bore you with that. Great vid matey. Greetings from Australia.
Jesper´s designs and their ergonomics are truly great, especially in smaller and mini knives. bought Böker Gnome once, this was also very useful although this is tiny and has 440c blade steel (if i´m correct). i had to give it away as a gift to another admirer. this MKM Micro is in every way like an advanced cousin of this. Zac, i also share your enthusiasm about October (a bit) and Conaway (a lot).
On the Mikro Wait till you realize you can actually use the magnet to attach the blade to your metal work space and pocket it back when you’re finished with cutting tasks. I discovered that this winter when winterizing our snow machines and sand spreaders late last year.
Will do, been building my collection lately, mostly bench made and some bark River but I have recently picked up some Kizer and love them too, so I am excited for this group to arrive tomorrow and Monday :)
You and Ben were my favorite presenters back your...ahem...former employer. Im really glad to see youre back at it putting out content. Your presentation and production were always top notch in my book and I always looked forward to your videos. Subscribed and joined the Patreon. Keep up the good work!
I honestly prefer longer videos, but im impressed how much information you get into a short video. I edc a smith&wesson m&p fixed, a sog mini fixed and the sog powerpint.
The power pint pocket clip fits a Leatherman bit underneath. Works with the bit driver, so you can add what your missing. If you’re not using the pocket clip, could be an option. Great video!
I like the MKM MIKRO and recognized the designer’s name, Jesper Voxnaes, who designed another small knife I own, the CRKT PIET. I enjoy your videos, Dude. Keep up the great work!
My suggestion: since you love the Victorinox Compact, but would like to have pliers… the Victorinox Deluxe Tinker is a great option. It has all your faves from the Compact, plus the pliers and a backside Philips
I picked up a Deviant with the same materials a couple weeks ago and it hasn't left my pocket since. Very happy with everything about it. It could just be that new knife honeymoon period, but I don't see my thoughts changing any time soon.
i put a #2 3/4" self tapping screw through 1/ 2" of stainless steel with that screwdriver. its also a primo size for "dad" activities like changing batteries or taking apart your fishing reel. for anything else i just put my LM ratchet driver on the hex
Easy fix for the prying issue: kershaw pt1 or pt2 on your keys for an incredible effective and cheap micro prybar. For the phillips there's not much out there (as evidenced by the fact that you had to custom your own solution); the juice S2 was pocket sized and had a great phillips head driver but for mid boggling reasons leatherman stopped making it :( Great vid keep em coming sir!
Nice to see an in-use Mikro review for the first time! I’m planning to pick up one of each of the blade shapes but without micarta scales to run paracord around the grips.
Thank you for the great info. The last knife you showed kinda reminded me of the last pocket knife I got. I feel like it's been my favorite one I've owned in a while and had a pretty similarly designed blade shape. It's a petrified fish knife, model PF714B. AUS-8 blade, black G10 handle, thumb knob and bearing for smooth opening. Very durable feeling knife. Slip proof handle design is very effective and it has a stainless steel liner and pins. Best knife I've owned and for only $40. Can't beat it. Worth checking out. I was considering getting extra ones to have as backup and to send as gifts. But yeah, I'd love to see more reviews done like this from people, very well done. Thanks again, keep up the great work. Much appreciated
Thanks for the info Zac. I've been wanting to add a small fixed blade to my EDC and the Mikro peaked my interest. I wasn't sure about the sheath tho. So now that I saw you demonstrate it's workings, I'm going to have to pull the trigger. Thanks for the great content Bud! Take care.
I think the SOG Powerpinte fullfill the roll that they Leatherman "Juice" line used to as a Midsized Plier based Multitool The Closest Juice layout would be the XE6 Model it looks like.
Gotta love those only slightly curved reverse tanto and reverse-tanto-ish blades! For me Wharncliffe and Sheepsfoot have a straight edge. But I guess that's open to interpretation. 😅
Been eyeing the Deviant for some time and after seeing that nice patina starting to take on your knife, I think I'll pull the trigger, Im a sucker for copper. That Mikro is really tempting, though, I love that sheath.
Man this is awesome. I recently started watching knife banter with you and Ben on blade hq, and was like man I love these guys, as I watched more recent videos I found out you guys had left and I was really bummed. I just happened to stumble across your channel and have renewed excitement!
Heck yeah to the powerpint! Its my fave smol multitool. I did a comparison video on the powerpint vs the leatherman juice. Shortcomings aside, its just plain awsome. I use the seatbelt cutter as a pencil sharpener.
Love what you and Jamie are doing. Keep up the good work. Also appreciate the clean family friendly content. So refreshing. Would love to see your projects and plans concerning your new property. God bless.
Ok, ya sold me on the MKM. I like that sheath and it’s various configurations. Sometimes all ya need is a small blade and this definitely fits the bill.
Thank you for the review on the power pint..I’ve been thinking about getting one but like you..I’m always prying things and my P4 or pocket pry do that job..I’ve see so many reviews about the power pint but this one is the one I needed to make my decision👌🏼
I think the Mikra is such a cool design with a nice sheath. Don't have one myself but have heard lots of good things! I have been carrying the Civivi Baby Banter everyday since I got it a couple weeks ago. As well as my Victorinox Climber. Love to see some different knives that I haven't heard of!
I had the mikro and thought it wasa great little blade but ended up selling it because it didn't really work for me in practice. For a long time a Deluxe Tinker was my multi tool of choice because of the pliers and full size phillips head, but the power pint kicked it to the curb at the beginning of summer. For my needs, as a chef working in a hotel, giving up a little ground on the phillips head was worth having the massively superior pliers. I only recall using the phillips head once, but I use the pliers a couple times a week minimum.
Got myself the Deviant before this video came out and I absolutely love it. I also own a WeKnife 20cv elementum and always end up coming back to my Deviant. Only gripe with the knife is the pocket clip does feel a tad bit flimsy. Been trying to find a good aftermarket titanium or copper replacement but to no avail. I did end up having to get my blade centered since it was off out of the box but other than that It's a perfect sheepsfoot blade knife and I recommend it as well.
I’ve been hard using my deviant as a work knife and edc folder for a year now and have nothing bad to say. Can’t say enough good things about this knife. Pocket clip has held up through hell. It never snags on a thing so it never really gets the chance to break except when taking bad falls
I actually love the fact you did the Mikro by MKM. I'm looking at the bigger brother to that exact knife the Makro. Little bit bigger, but I'd been wanting a EDC fixed blade and seems like the best option out there as of right now.
I carry a bark river JX6 in pocket. I have found fixed blades up to 7.5” oal with a sheath that doesn’t have a loop for belt attachment will fit comfortably in pocket.
@@zacinthewild you’re welcome. I wasn’t satisfied with fixed blades because I had in my head they needed to be small to edc. I tried the LT Wright Patriot for example. It would pocket great but was uncomfortably small to use. The JX6 was intended for food prep (works great) and turns out it EDC’s excellent too. My personal preference is 6.5”-7.5” as that is my sweet spot for size and use of an edc fixed blade.
I recently got the MLM Mikro 2 and I've been carrying it scout cary in the leather sheath. I tuck it between my belt & pants through the back belt loop with the leather flap around the outside of my belt. It completely disappears, but its ready when I need it. The Kizer October Mini is at the top of the wish list, the murdered of version. Just haven't been able to get it yet. Hopefully before the end of the year. Great video, thanks.
A great choice, been EDC’ing mine ever since I got one a few months back. A great knife. It was a bit hard to thumb flip initially but after a while, it breaks in and it’s perfect! Good luck with it.
Love the channel Zac. Presently rotating in my edc a Boker Black Widow Blade HQ exclusiv, of course my Delica and a Buck Trunk. Seems to be rotation the last month. Will mix in the PM2 or an Eafengrow 950
I am struggleing to find a single knife for at home, and a single knife for outside. (You know how laws are.) Currently I am: Carrying a K4 Stich neck knife on a ball-chain (but I also got an UltiClip and a karabiner attached to the sheeth, for maximum wearing-flexibiolity), and a Böker Plus Urban Trapper as twohanded backlock with G10 scales when; I am outside. Ised to carry a blacked out and paracord wrapped RealSteel Alieneck Wharncliffe before; I still love it, but weird people think it looks mean. 😥 Inside the house I usually carry a ColdSteel Spike in american tanto, and the BHQ Exclusive Böker LRF in brass, or I carry the CRKT M16-03BS as both in one so to speak. 😅 Not to mention the credit card knife in my wallet and the Böker Magnum "Little Friend Arrowhead" on my keys. 😅 I guess I will keep carrying one for rougher and dirtier use and one for lighter and slicier use; and then also have another double-set for going outside ... I think these german knife laws are fueling my knife addiction, making me get ones for at home and extra ones for outside. 😂
Great content as always! I recently bought a kizer begleiter in titanium and I gotta say kizer is pretty good. Definitely have my heart set on the drop bear and comet. You mave have talked me into looking at the deviant.
I carry two of those the power pint and the Deviant, currently eyeing the Mini October for a while (might pick up the TI October) might check out the Mikro now that I see the review 😁
Get yourself an American Service Knife and small pair of Knipexes and you’ll be all set! Assuming of course you don’t need your pliers to be needle nosey! Keep up the awesome content!
I'd love to see more reviews from you and Jamie and any guests you wanna have on but instead of reviewing everything you try, I'd love to see you or a guess just doing a 10 - 15 minute video on a few of your favorite pieces of gear you have tried recently.
Putting a dedicated Phillips screwdriver was a big miss, unfortunately. What I would've loved is instead of the dedicated Phillips screwdriver for them to use something like the bits set on the Victorinox Cybertool. Then make the bits double-sided, and hopefully make the spine of the bit set a bit extension - which might be a bit of a stretch (no pun intended).
You're passion for knives got me really into knives. I miss you on blade hq haven't really watched their videos since. Glad you're doing your own thing!

I have never, in my life, needed the scissors on a multi tool and I can't imagine how I ever could. But a pry tool would be marvelous!

Great content as always! I recently bought a kizer begleiter in titanium and I gotta say kizer is pretty good. Definitely have my heart set on the drop bear and comet. You mave have talked me into looking at the deviant.
Honestly can’t go wrong with either🤘
Just open another tool slightly on the PowerPint and it unlocks the lock and then close both tools 😉🍻
You show us some very nice knives me I'm just a classic SAK Huntsman carrier it handles all my daily needs
Now I want the MKM Mikro and I don't even have fixed blades 😂😂
I have the Deviant in my pocket right, now....lol🤘🤠
Well - Well done brother ! I'm looking at that SOG!! I need another multi tool. JK 😂 but I want another one
Glad it was useful!👊
Currently 41$ on Amazon. Just bought one 😊
@@carlo2close thank you brother 🤜
I carry two of those the power pint and the Deviant, currently eyeing the Mini October for a while (might pick up the TI October) might check out the Mikro now that I see the review 😁
Get yourself an American Service Knife and small pair of Knipexes and you’ll be all set! Assuming of course you don’t need your pliers to be needle nosey! Keep up the awesome content!
Knipex all day!🤘
I'd love to see more reviews from you and Jamie and any guests you wanna have on but instead of reviewing everything you try, I'd love to see you or a guess just doing a 10 - 15 minute video on a few of your favorite pieces of gear you have tried recently.
Love what your doing
Thank you! Having fun on this end too😁
I’ve subscribed. Good content but I’d like to ask, can you do more of what are you carrying videos? The sturgis video was awesome!
I strongly have to recommend the Boker Ak1 fixed blade. Seems like it would suit your preferences.
I’ll snag one and add it to the rotation! Thanks for the suggestion👊
I miss you
Putting a dedicated Phillips screwdriver was a big miss, unfortunately. What I would've loved is instead of the dedicated Phillips screwdriver for them to use something like the bits set on the Victorinox Cybertool. Then make the bits double-sided, and hopefully make the spine of the bit set a bit extension - which might be a bit of a stretch (no pun intended).
I have been debating the powerpint for a while now and with my birthday coming up on the 18th, i might have to ask for one from the other half lol
Instant click every time 🔥🔥🔥
Means a ton!🤘
Much appreciated stellar vid
You're passion for knives got me really into knives.
I miss you on blade hq haven't really watched their videos since.
Glad you're doing your own thing!
