    I tested the normal beta and I think it sound way better than the ml mikko 2... just did a 3 dB narrow cut in the 2,5 k spectrum and it did sound as good as the york audio irs... the question is, would it be possible to move the mic 360 degrees... or put the Mike at an angle

    Alignment is available for FM3 in current version for normal IRs.

      Correct. With Dyna-Cabs being a new feature it's also something that's been overlooked in the rush to move virtual mics around.

  • @AudioAtmos

    Sounds great. I was under the impression this would not be eligible to work on the FM3 due to memory limitations, but from other comments I’m guessing I’m wrong. Will the Dyna Cab be able to work of the FM3 and FM9 if FAS chooses to incorporate it?

    I just finally updated to the dyna cabs...I haven't had a ton of time to mess with them, but so far to me they sound a little shrill...that could be great if you need to cut through a mix tho!! But I find myself going back to the legacy thing...I like my tones maybe a little too dark.... can anyone weigh in on if they use the dyna cab for live and loud? Or does is sound better with headphones? just curious ...and would appreciate tips...so far everything with the dyna cabs is too bright for me..maybe I need to tune my ears? I dunno

I also slid the align over to the next transient with nice results..!!...I knew there were good tones to be had through it, just had to mess with stuff..I'm so used to fractal just creating the preset that is instantly perfect!! Instant gratification has it's limitations I suppose....thanks for all you do!!

    It seems like the same end goal could be achieved with a PEQ late in your chain. Is it materially different from applying an EQ? Maybe dynacabs are just a new interface for shaping EQ?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  Год назад

      They're IR's that have been captured using a robotic micing technique. IR's and EQ share some similarities for sure, but they are different from a technical and tonal perspective. You can certainly use either approach to get satisfying results!

  • @leonc1234
    @leonc1234 Год назад

    @Leon Todd - I have a question about what's actually happening behind the scenes with Dyna-Cabs. I'm assuming that there actually a handful or two of IRs that are being used for a given cab/speaker type, and the Fractal OS is essentially programmed with algorithms that approximate a more-or-less infinite number of physical positions by extrapolating the differences between the underlying IRs. Do you know if that's how this is actually being done?
    Related - do you know what the implication is for people who like to produce their own IRs when it comes to making them work with the Dyna-Cab interface? Is there like a spec available that we can work under?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  Год назад +2

      They built a mic robot to shoot thousands of individual IR's, so while I imagine there is some interpolation happening it's far more accurate than interpolation between 2 IR's

    • @leonc1234
      @leonc1234 Год назад

      @@LeonTodd That's very interesting, to say th a least! It sounds like that will raise serious barriers to entry for any 3rd parties that want to create DynaCabs of their own.

    Is moving the phase a good idea? I heard its a bad thing?

    • @djabthrash
      @djabthrash 7 месяцев назад

      Phase can be used as a tool.
      If it sounds good in the mix, then it means it's good.
      The fredman technique partly relies on phase stuff btw.

  • @tomashcroft7024
    @tomashcroft7024 11 месяцев назад +1

    Front view of the speaker would have been a lot better. Not sure why they chose the side view. Better yet a front and a side view of the speaker. I am assuming because of room, but they could just make another page.

    • @djabthrash
      @djabthrash 7 месяцев назад

      Front view looks cooler and closer to real life stuff, BUT this side view is better for mic positioning, since they didn't change mic positions on a vertical axis (whzn facing the cab), only on the horizontal axis.
      Lots of others software/hardware units (including the Two Notes Torpedo stuff, which i love and use) use the front view, which looks cool, but i wish they used side view like here instead, because it makes mic placement way easier.
      Best of both worlds would be to have both views (front and side) at the same time.
