Thank you for sharing your personal experiences from working with people who live with these two conditions. I think that you really nailed the differences between the autistic and schzioid subjective inner experience. What you have communicated in this video closely aligns with my personal perspective of the differences between the two. I liked how you pinpointed the different reasons for masking, as well as differences in their ability to read other people, and differing attitudes in giving trust. You summarized this very well. I think that we need more discussions on this topic, as there is a lot of confusion amongst people as to which they are, and even in the psychological field when giving diagnoses. Understanding the different subjective experiences between the two can really help people to discover their core underlying issues, rather than focusing on the surface manifestation of lacking mutually intimate relationships.

@@SchizoidVision thank you for your comment. I fully agree that unfortunately mental health professionals tend to 'stick' to behaviours and observable manifestations rather then on subjective experiences. With is a net loss both for the patient and for our clinical thinking. Thank again and have great day!

    Thank you for your presentation!
I'm a late discovery autistic + ADHD traits person (AuDHD 56 years). Your description of my autistic lived experience is pretty much spot on. 🙏

Thank you for doing this, it's very insightful.
I used to think about the distinction between both groups of individuals mainly in terms of very specific, detail oriented interests (a very narrow angle, but going very deep) for the autistic people and having an overview perspective, tendency to abstract, philosophize (wide angle, looking for the unifying rules, theories) for the schizoids. I think symbolically this is in line in the psychodynamics you are describing - moving towards, need to connect and immerse in life (for autistic people) as oposed to keeping the distance and looking in from the outside (for the schizoids).
The observations regarding masking are very interesting, will watch it again. I appreciate your content, thank you.

Thank you for your positive feedback ! I am sure there is many more differences than what I have talked about in this video. And the idea if Autistic people seeking a unifying theories is very interesting and is well worth it's own conversation!

@@talkingpsychology i mean, I was transferred from 3 families by the age of 3. It should surely be a good reason to question it? It has always been on the back of my head since its been somewhat traumatic. Foster homes to be precise

Yes discontinuity at such an early age can indeed be traumatic. If you feel the need to pursue it than it most likely is important to ask the question.

@@talkingpsychology thank you for the quick reply sir. Any idea which qualification could decide what kind of diagnoses would be looked into?
      Thanks.

Because of the similarity it is difficult to identify/diagnosis. But that is important because the frame work of the treatment really does vary even though the needs are similar.
