    This trick is older than a lot of people reading this. Newsflash: you create a game, expect someone to game the system.

    Sounds like an inefficiency in the airlines' booking system. Let me get this right; airlines can overbook the flight, kick you off and fight you tooth and nail for any compensation, but taking advantage of their red tape and overhead in flight booking will get you detained and interrogated? LOL okay.

    I don’t see the issue. He paid for his ticket, and it’s his business to get off where he wants to. 🤷🏽‍♂️ The airlines should be lowering their prices to accommodate.

      Exactly - they claim "lost revenue" but didn't he pay for the ticket already? It's not like he gets a refund for the additional leg!

    I think that skiplagging is great. I don’t practice it, but it seems that’s it results in the connected flights having more open seating (from the passengers who ditched the next leg), resulting in a more spacious seating experience for those who will be boarding.
    Sounds like a “win” to me!!

    Ha! Smart people. Charging more for flying fewer miles to less cities is ridiculous. They shouldn’t be surprised people are doing it.

      It has to do with the economics of air travel. Flights from NYC to LA are cheaper to operate than flights from NYC to Omaha. Its b/c there's more passenger demand for NYC to LA flights than there are for NYC to Omaha flights. This translates into more flight routes from NYC to LA and therefore more seats getting booked. Its why even though NYC to LA is a longer distance than NYC to Omaha, the cost of a ticket from NYC to Omaha is higher than a ticket from NYC to LA...

      @@Chad_Max Which airline do you work for dude? Because you certainly sound like one of their paid spokes holes! The airlines spend the same amount on the plane, crew and fuel for a flight from NYC to Omaha as they do a flight from NYC to LA. Yes, there are fewer people going to Omaha from NYC than are going to LA from NYC, but there are also fewer flights from NYC to Omaha than there are between NYC and LA. The airlines pays the same either way, they simply have fewer flights operating to Omaha from NYC. I simply do not understand your argument. You mean it costs less for an airline to stop in Omaha on the way to LA than it does for them to simply fly to Omaha from NYC? RIDICULOUS!

    • @Chad_Max
      @Chad_Max Год назад +1

      You're committing fraud when you do this b/c you're not making that decision at the layover. You've already formed the fraudulent intent before you purchase the ticket b/c you're purposely buying a ticket with a layover that's your actual destination for the sole reason of avoiding the cost of the ticket if you make the layover your destination. The airlines are well within their rights to file a lawsuit against you...

    • @JDowPCs

      oh, right, it's legalized fraud.

      @Deelambs Год назад +2

      @@Chad_Max That's not true, the feds say it's not illegal. If it were truly fraud, they'd say it's illegal. It's a matter of airline policies whether they want to allow it or not.

    • @nonyabusiness1990
      @nonyabusiness1990 Год назад +3

      @@Chad_Max No, the airlines are charging exorbitant fees for some routes. The airlines already formed their fraudulent intent when they charge you three times as much as it costs them to fly you to your destination! Then of course they tack on bag fees, seat selection fees, airport fees, etc. all the while eliminating leg space and shoving as many people into the cabin as is possible without them literally lying on top of one another. What airline do you work for? You certainly have the airline's talking points down pat!

    The real problem I see is that a ticket from Florida to JFK (nyc) with a layover in Charlotte, is cheaper then a direct flight to Charlotte (nc)
    Shame on the airline for overreacting and putting a juvenile through this process of horseshit. Doing it to anyone is an issue but especially a minor.

  • @elizabethcooper-garcia2968
    @elizabethcooper-garcia2968 Год назад +1

    The reality is that the airlines provide the fares based on their estimated costs. If you purchase the ABC fare and get off at point B, you are actually saving the airline on fuel with the lighter payload (one person less). The crew has to be there anyway. And there can usually be a person or two on standby waiting at the airport to board and take that empty seat. It's BS on part of the airlines to cry foul for something they created. Hiding behind a contract is merely an excuse to charge you money for nothing but greed.

    What I didn't hear brought up is, and using this case as an example, with the guy booking a seat on the CLT-JFK segment, that's one less seat available to buy for someone who legimately is traveling from CLT-JFK. With supply and demand, that trickles down to higher fares for every other honest passenger to pay. Please be honest and don't skip lag.

    • @nonyabusiness1990

      Do you honestly believe that American is charging fair pricing for its routes? Like someone else already said, "You don't cheat airlines, they cheat you!" If airlines charged fair prices for their routes, then people would not have to resort to trickery to get the fare they ought to have paid in the first place! This guy paid a fare for the entire route. Therefore he is cheating no one! It's American Airlines that is the swindler here!

    Those parents knew, horrible people. It is equivalent to stealing! Not just stealing from the airline but it takes aways fares, seats and significant availability from other passengers and ties up flight crew where it may not be necessary not to mention the delay for that next connecting flight while they call for the missing passenger over and over before take off, so people should be upset when greedy people do this!
    You don’t see the issue with this but you do see a huge problem with the airline when your flight is delayed or the flight shows the seat you want for your family member next to you sold out but you get on the flight and its empty so you blame the the airline staff again.. there are so many issues this causes that people will never see. I am a travel agent and its a long list of headaches, it would disgust you too.
