actually i used the Esims from Mobimatter... and i installed it before my flight. activated the line upon landing. and had internet. there was no need for a WiFi to activate the line...
Thank you! This video was exactly what I needed. I’m traveling out of the the continent for the first time and I was nervous about this. I’m going to Malawi :)
Excellent video Jeff. I have purchased a data only SIM for overseas. Do I disable my original SIM when I activate the overseas SIM or do I still have the original SIM enabled but with roaming off so I can still have WIFI calling on when connected to WIFI? Thanks in advance.
Thank you for an excellent and informative video. I have two related questions. I will be using for my trip to india. I have few questions. (1) When I land, I need to call my car driver on his Indian cell phone to tell him that I have arrived. Will this allow me to make that call to a local cell number? (2) I often need to connect to my banks and brokerages, and they send me a verification code as a text to my US tel number (Verizon service). Will I be able to get those codes too? (3) Would I be able to use my whatsapp as is?
I am from India. I Can assure you the prepaid Sims (airtel / jio / vodafone) here with 5g data plan are fast & cheapest in the world and available at airport and almost any part of any Indian city you are traveling. But better to buy at Airport, like u Said u might need to call your taxi guy. So if you forgot to buy a plan ahead, no need to worry.
Thanks for the info Jeff. I have a question. How would this work if you are going to several destinations. For example, I am planning a trip that will take me to Italy, Greece, Turkey and the UK. Since I'll be in a cruise, probably will not have a signal while at sea. Is their a "multicountry" package that you may know of?
Yes, there are some regional eSim options available. There are a few “Europe” packages available that may include all the destinations you plan to visit! If you decide to move forward, don’t forget to use discount code “JEFFHYER10” to get 10% off you Airalo package :) Here’s the link for reference: airalo.pxf.io/c/4000973/2000777/15608?p.code=JEFFHYER10
Hi Jeff, loved your video. I have a question regarding the installation process at home before traveling. I have an i phone 15 which has an e sim. As soon as I clicked on start installation on the Airalo app I got a pop up - "Activate New e-sim...allow this if you requested a new e sim from your carrier...Apple will share your device EID number with your carrier or e Sim provider... should I click on allow at this point? Thanks
JH blows past the install with QR code other than just giving it a mention. The Airalo site instructions indicate that when installing the Esim, you have the option to use a photo (i.e. screenshot you took of the QR) . Now I don't know if this was possible with older versions of IOS, but there is no option to use a QR code photo to complete the installation. Airalo's instructions do not address this and neither does Jeff.
Great informative video. I know you recently went to Kenya. Did you use Airalo there? Did you have any cell service without WiFi? I’m visiting in July and a little stressed about cell service there with Verizon travel pass.
I haven’t used an eSIM in Kenya yet but definitely will next time I go. Kenya would be a great place to use this service, in my experience there’s been great data coverage across the country - even in some remote regions I’ve traveled there.
Find someone nearby. Tell them to take a picture of the qr from their phone. Then scan it from your phone. I did that at the airport and it worked. Manually entering code might also work.
Dumb question-Do I need to re-lock my Iphone after I return home so its available for use. Or can I just leave it alone and continue to use it with my current ATT account
Im new to this but can I make a call using esim - my own number? Without internet. I checked out the link you provided and it say data only. So Im really confused
I had a nightmare setting this app up. So much for customer service. Its a Chatbot . I've requested a refund of my airtime purchase which has not been activated as I am here in the UK.
Thank you for this video, but why do you onlu show how to do this on an iphone? Everybody all over the world only uses Android, nobody uses iphones except in some countries like the US...

I recommend you activate it before you leave this way you don’t have to go crazy looking for free Wi-Fi to activate it.

You just eased so much of my anxiety, thank you!!

Silly question- how do I use my iPhone camera to scan a QR that pops up on the same iPhone
THIS!!! I always have to bring 2 phones so i can scan on the other.
Thank you. Very helpful.
Thanks. I sure wish you’d answer some of the questions here about existing plans and how to handle them.

Is it possible to add 2 or more separate devices to get each of them data in the same account?
Does my att iPhone need to be “unlocked”.
May I add eSIM if my phone still under payment contract with current cellular carrier such as AT & T.
Do I have to keep my phone on airplane mode to avoid roaming charges once I get the aim card ?

What about living Aftica to America? I don’t want to call Aftica with my Americs number
Does it work on android watch travelling abroad ?
