Highly mistaken, I’m from Mumbai and I spoke highly about the city when I went back. I visited the city last year and fell in love. I really love that it was surrounded by huge lakes and gardens, honestly did not see even a paan stain, apart from few streets there were visibly no slums, food is good and comparatively cheaper than Bombay. I never saw silt from the gutter kept at the side like the BMC does it here after cleaning and to top it all, the weather was great. Apart from the traffic which is everywhere in Indian, I definitely plan to visit it again.
Bangalorean here and Bangalore deserves to be ridiculed. I’m not talking about people nor the culture but it’s infrastructure and politics. Winter wonderland reduced to a garbage dumpster.

I am also one of few Mumbaikar who love Bengaluru more now. I will always prefer to getting stuck in Bengaluru traffic then getting squized in overcrowded trains and dont even know when one can fall from running train. Mumbai used to be awesome 10-15 years ago but now its become worst due to air pollution, potholes, overcrowding. You will feel poor even after buying house for 2 cr because you will get 1bhk of 300 sq feet, 2bhk for 600sq ft and 3bk for 900 sq feet. Its like match box house even after paying so much money.

Maybe within the city because people already had houses there. But all around there are 100s already and many more coming up. And yes there are no flats without a balcony here 😂
Spacious flat. This sized apartment would easily cost 5 cr in a good locality in Mumbai (Vile Parle, Hiranandani Powai, Andheri West) and rent 1 to 2 L. And would cost much higher for areas closer to the sea maybe 7-10 cr.
Andheri West used to be a good locality. Not anymore with all the corporate offices that have sprung up around. Vile Parle, Matunga and Powai continue to be the best bang for buck in terms of Spaciousness, Schools, Hospitals and Amenities.
Lived in both bombsy and bangalore. But for the rental part, bangaore is an expensive city to live. And rentals are sky rocketing in Bangalore too. Firstly the maintenance is paid by thr tenant which is not the case with Bombay. Second almost all the societies except the stand alone ones buy water which spikes the maintenance bill and mind you all, the water is pretty bad. Electricity charges are very high in bangalore inspite of the power cuts and pathetic service of bescom. Transportation charges puts a big dent on your monthly budget in bangalore. Owning a two wheeler is the only saviour. School fees in bangalore is really high. Lastly the people. Its a relatively new city which is growing. So people are not very friendly. There is a clear divide between people who come from the North vs the south and on basis of the job cadre. Especially when you move in as a family you will find a huge difference. So the shift would be justified only if its a great job. Plus bangalore is no more an ideal place for retirement. It can be a heaven for unmarried people but not for families. Thats my point of view after living in bangalore with my family for 4+ years
Places like Jayanagar, JP Nagar etc get regular tap water. As I have seen, educated Kannadigas do not do any North South divide and probably a minority of the others might have done. It should not reflect on the vast majority. There is a huge number of north indians working everywhere in Bangalore.
If you don't mind sharing, can you please elaborate on why you felt after moving with family, the north-south is clearly visible? What changes did you observed?
Bangalorians are laid-back by nature. Tamilians and recently moved in Telugus maintain loud and aloof culture. North Indians are by and large brash, dominating with superiority complex. North Indians huddle together and don't bother to learn or respect local sentiments. Although there are always exceptions Bangalore is still simple at heart accommodating all. IT boom has in a way spoilt the original culture, mentality and also the weather. I guess these frictions and changes are inevitable. Bangalore is my Janmabhoomi and a north Indian city is my Karmabhoomi.
Most of Bangalore outside of IT campuses looks like unplanned & uncontrolled suburban sprawl. I can't find proper town planning system here. Modern areas have buildings fully covered in walls & security check points & hardly any of the large buildings offer street facing consumption businesses. They seriously need to transform their IT areas into true downtown zones from gated software factories.
Only the central core areas like Malleshwaram, Basavanagudi, are planned as they are from the pre-colonial era. And I do agree that most of the IT offices and apartments are cut-off from the local streets. It takes a long time for one to walk out of their office/home to a roadside vegetable vendor. Things like these have to be considered while designing new buildings. Connectivity to local economy while being separated from the hustle-and-bustle is a key factor while considering where to live.
An emerginng trend in Bengaluru are studio apartments. In one episode cover a few of these in key business areas. Till a few years back in Bengaluru even a 1 bhk was as good as unheard of & unthinkable. The real estate sector of this city is changing & the working people are driving this change. But still these people face huge challenges in getting on rent a decent place with at least basic amenities & on exiting to get the deposit amount back from house owners.
Infosys pays 25 thousand per month to engineers in Bangalore and also deducts 600 forcefully towards Sudha Murthys charitable business. These rentals are unaffordable to people working in Infosys. Also this kudlu area falls short with respect to the road flyover. Electronic city to silk board flyover does not have an exit near kudlu. And its away from NICE road junction making it less appealing compared to apartments within Electronic City/Neeladrinagar area.
Man there are 10000s of Mumbaikars like us living in Bengaluru now as most of Mumbaikar know well about the poor job situation in Mumbai. Feels hurt but true.

The traffic part is not right. In Mumbai it's just the highways or the narrow small roads in some areas but that's not the case in Bangalore. Every road has some alternative road and the connectivity is bad for say even a 10 km travel. In Mumbai even in bad traffic it can go to 30-40 mins but in Bangalore it goes from 1- 1.5 hrs except Sundays. And since the people is majority tech people who are there for work so all of them have a bike and/or car. The vehicles are more for the roads there.
Yup that's the ground reality, Mumbai traffic keeps flowing...plus there many infra projects, flyovers,bypass roads here...Bangalore traffic is like you are stuck is an oblivion or a limbo! However Mumbai haters tend to whitewash everything outside of Mumbai ... "Aal izz well"😂😂😂

Lived in mumbai from 2015 to 2022 May in various localities. Stayed in Bangalore 2022 May to 2023 May. I'm back to Mumbai now! Below are my observations - 1) Bangalore climate is overrated. Most of the working professionals sit in AC offices and would sit in AC at home for the most part. So I don't understand how climate even matters when people decide to move to Bangalore 2) Bangalore traffic is 10 times worse than Mumbai. People don't have any lane discipline at all in Bangalore. Mumbai traffic is never completely stuck. It's always flowing, albeit with less speed during peak hours. 3)There are no places to chill within the city area (Mumbai has Marine Drive, 2-3 beaches, SGNP, etc.) 4) 2 out of 5 times the quality of food (talking about North Indian Food) would be mediocre in Bangalore. It's hardly the case in Mumbai 5) You don't get comfort when you ride on a bike at around 1AM-2AM in Bangalore. I even found it difficult to find 24x7 medical shops. I guarantee, you'll find 24x7 medical within 5 min of distance at night anywhere in Mumbai 6) People always complain about Mumbai being the North-South City. Well, at least it works. Most of the IT companies in Bangalore are located on ORR. There are limited housing options there. Travel to airport/majestic bus and railway station is so exhausting that you lose interest to travel outside. 7) You'll find a lot of roadside vegetable stalls in Mumbai and they have good quality vegetables. I found it slightly difficult to get similar veggies in Bangalore.
Similarly Pune has so much potential...it has the best weather as Bangalore, IT and automobile hub...given an infra boost, pune can pip any other city also because of its proximity to Mumbai
Pune ring road, new international airport & metro network will propel Pune to greater heights. Similarly if all infra projects in MMR are executed it will increase the quality of life. Mumbai-Pune corridor can be something like how the actual Silicon Valley is spread out between San Francisco & San Jose. If only our Maharashtra politicians were a little bit interested.

@@divitkarekar5803 I've stayed in Delhi & visited Gurugram & Noida multiple times. Yes they have good infra as far as roads, metro, etc is concerned. In the New Delhi capital area it is quite expected too because the capital area should look beautiful. They are even getting RRTS now. But all other cities can do similar things eventually, only if they have the will & discipline. Rest assured a lot of people living in NCR hate it too because of the crowd, pollution, crime, etc
@@kspradeep8397 pune is much bigger city as compared to Indore Bhopal etc...city population is about 65lakhs...it's 7th largest city, 2nd largest auto hub after chennai, 4th largest IT hub, top educational institutions, so many tourist places around..it generates 50% of Maharashtra's employment and is a preferred hub for investments in MH... Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad is within 150kms...Just the infra like roads and airport needs a boost, then it will be one of the best cities to live in
Just a point Having multiple ways to reach a destination in changing a metro line is because of Bangalore being a radial city and that works for it Bombay can only majorly have a linear metro line with some crossings but that's just how Mumbai as a city is Also Bangalore Suburban Rail project is in progress having 4 lines 146 km not as extensive as Mumbai but it's a start
Independent buildings are far better than these gated communities. You can rent a 1 bhk at just Rs. 5000 also in bengaluru. In Mumbai you need to go around Vasai Virar area for that rent away from core city.

@@divitkarekar5803 5 kms from these areas you can get at Rs. 10,000 for 1 bhk and 13000 for a 2 bhk. If you need a little bit more premium then Rs. 20,000 for 1 bhk and 30000 for a 2 bhk. Dont go through brokers. They jack up the price.
Independent buildings would be 50-70 k in Indranagar. In most apartments and in the smaller areas ( ie ex panchayat area) you can get a decent 2 apt/home for 20k. For 35-45k in most apts in outer area so you get 2-3 bk. Please dont come to bengaluru and raise rental prices like bombay people did in 1980 ties. Bargain and bargain hard. Tell you are from bhopal Or hyderabad . Also there are almost nil 1bhk in most parts of bengaluru. Newer outskirts are getting studio apts. Otherwise you don't get one bed room apts. No you won't get Rs5000 single bedroom in bangaluru. Indranagar, jp nagar etc are all old upmarket areas. I used to pay 8000 for a tiny single bedroom in a far out congested area in bengaluru in 1995 so that way prices have stablised.
I am from Bangalore. HSR was a natural marsh area 30 years back. Water naturally tends to flow there when it rains. Good luck to anyone who wants to own a house there
Its 1900 sft super built up, 1440 sft carpet. I had same doubt thats why I checked on 99acres. In most of states except maharashtra, apartments sold at super built up area which isn’t correct.
housing is not the only thing that matters,and trust me if you find hard enough there are chances to get a good deal and a fairly spacious house in mumbai

i have passed out of iit b and also worked in an excellent tech co,s in san jose later quite some yrs later some friends class mates from iit started a tech co in new mumbai and pune we are extremely happy with the decision mumbai is were i was born and i can never get over the city inspite of being in one of the best cities like san francisco los angeles and new york same with my friends i dont think this guy is from mumbai and he says mba grads are all in bangalore mba grads from which univ i know 3 of our iit friends whose startup is in deep red and one of them has gone back to san jose for me no city like my mumbai i stay in a very pretty area pali hill bandra west happy as everr so also my partner buddies
@@ksubbus I have traveled to Bangalore few times and hell yes...the traffic, the attitude of auto, lack of meters gets really frustrating...Mumbai what you pay in rent gets balance out with everything else, domestic helps, cooks are much reasonable, Auto, Taxis have meters, long distance traveling is much cheaper via train, street food have saved lives of those who move to city and are struggling in their initial days, cinema culture is embedded...you have tons decent single or dual screen theaters in the main city which do not charge a fortune for movie tickets and snacks, plenty of options for amazing street or wholesale shopping!
Exactly. Most people just goes by rentals. Bangalore and Hyderabad are fast catching up on rentals. Mumbai is happening, welcoming cosmo city unlike most of metros.
@@herambpatkar the ola, rapido etc. are worst there. Everyday I had to pay once during the ride and then again a bit more after the trip ended. Additionally they demand cash or Gpay only directly to them, and not to the aggregators as they don't like to wait for the co. to pay them after a week cutting their percentages
@@herambpatkar hell yes I’ve traveled and stayed in Mumbai as well..the slums , muck and overall humid weather does get to you…and then you stay light years away from town and still psqft rates are upwards of 20k…street food and small cafes are equally affordable in Bangalore…..rentals in Mumbai the less said the better…so net net either pay through your nose and stay close to workplace or spend your life in commute in Mumbai
85K in HSR would still be too much....and its not even the heart of the city.... the old city will offer the same in 50K with much better civic amenities
Bangalore is a very slow City....with very bad public transport.....as there are no metros....to travel from Point A to Point B you'll need to change 2-4 buses

yes bangalore has lot of places to go out, but you will never reach those places. because of the worst traffic in the world. there is not aproper metro that connects entire city. the guy says he can breathe in bangalore? whats? i dont believe. there is also equal level of noise, construction, traffic honking. there is no place to walk. no sidewalks. yes sidewalks exists in HSR. but not every where. rents are high. traffic is bad. and weather does not define anything unless its extreme.
It's Bombay. Bombay stands for cosmopolitanism, tolerance, history. It's a vibe. IIT Bombay, Bombay High Court. And those born before the name change will always refer to it as Bombay because it comes naturally to them. Mumbai is the official name. Done out of nativism and politics. Shifted to Bangalore in 2023 after staying in pune for 15 years. Traffic is not that bad as people say in Bangalore.
Lol it never is except for few choke points, people come from small city and then are suddenly overwhelmed by sheer number of cars in the city.

@@herambpatkar exactly! 😁 Bangalore has to get out of that mindset of "the weather is chill and food is great". Agreed yes but the working population needs more convenience in their travel & stay which is more important and that is where it gets difficult.
Lived in mumbai from 2015 to 2022 May in various localities. Stayed in Bangalore 2022 May to 2023 May.
I'm back to Mumbai now!
Below are my observations -
1) Bangalore climate is overrated. Most of the working professionals sit in AC offices and would sit in AC at home for the most part. So I don't understand how climate even matters when people decide to move to Bangalore
2) Bangalore traffic is 10 times worse than Mumbai. People don't have any lane discipline at all in Bangalore. Mumbai traffic is never completely stuck. It's always flowing, albeit with less speed during peak hours.
3)There are no places to chill within the city area (Mumbai has Marine Drive, 2-3 beaches, SGNP, etc.)
4) 2 out of 5 times the quality of food (talking about North Indian Food) would be mediocre in Bangalore. It's hardly the case in Mumbai
5) You don't get comfort when you ride on a bike at around 1AM-2AM in Bangalore. I even found it difficult to find 24x7 medical shops. I guarantee, you'll find 24x7 medical within 5 min of distance at night anywhere in Mumbai
6) People always complain about Mumbai being the North-South City. Well, at least it works. Most of the IT companies in Bangalore are located on ORR. There are limited housing options there. Travel to airport/majestic bus and railway station is so exhausting that you lose interest to travel outside.
7) You'll find a lot of roadside vegetable stalls in Mumbai and they have good quality vegetables. I found it slightly difficult to get similar veggies in Bangalore.

Similarly Pune has so much potential...it has the best weather as Bangalore, IT and automobile hub...given an infra boost, pune can pip any other city also because of its proximity to Mumbai
Pune ring road, new international airport & metro network will propel Pune to greater heights. Similarly if all infra projects in MMR are executed it will increase the quality of life. Mumbai-Pune corridor can be something like how the actual Silicon Valley is spread out between San Francisco & San Jose. If only our Maharashtra politicians were a little bit interested.
@@svk0071 how much ever we rant about north india but delhi noida gudgaon is higly developed despite the pollution,they have good metro connectivity and way more spacious houses
these cities are just catching up with them in terms of infra and development
@@divitkarekar5803 I've stayed in Delhi & visited Gurugram & Noida multiple times. Yes they have good infra as far as roads, metro, etc is concerned. In the New Delhi capital area it is quite expected too because the capital area should look beautiful. They are even getting RRTS now. But all other cities can do similar things eventually, only if they have the will & discipline. Rest assured a lot of people living in NCR hate it too because of the crowd, pollution, crime, etc
If that's your point then there are many cities better than Pune. Indore, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Mysore, etc
@@kspradeep8397 pune is much bigger city as compared to Indore Bhopal etc...city population is about 65lakhs...it's 7th largest city, 2nd largest auto hub after chennai, 4th largest IT hub, top educational institutions, so many tourist places around..it generates 50% of Maharashtra's employment and is a preferred hub for investments in MH... Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad is within 150kms...Just the infra like roads and airport needs a boost, then it will be one of the best cities to live in

Having multiple ways to reach a destination in changing a metro line is because of Bangalore being a radial city and that works for it
Bombay can only majorly have a linear metro line with some crossings but that's just how Mumbai as a city is
Also Bangalore Suburban Rail project is in progress having 4 lines 146 km not as extensive as Mumbai but it's a start
Independent buildings are far better than these gated communities. You can rent a 1 bhk at just Rs. 5000 also in bengaluru. In Mumbai you need to go around Vasai Virar area for that rent away from core city.
what's the average rent in these independent buildings?i'm talking about places like or close to indiranagar,electronic city,whitefield etc

@@divitkarekar5803 5 kms from these areas you can get at Rs. 10,000 for 1 bhk and 13000 for a 2 bhk. If you need a little bit more premium then Rs. 20,000 for 1 bhk and 30000 for a 2 bhk. Dont go through brokers. They jack up the price.
Independent buildings would be 50-70 k in Indranagar.
In most apartments and in the smaller areas ( ie ex panchayat area) you can get a decent 2 apt/home for 20k. For 35-45k in most apts in outer area so you get 2-3 bk.
Please dont come to bengaluru and raise rental prices like bombay people did in 1980 ties. Bargain and bargain hard. Tell you are from bhopal Or hyderabad .
Also there are almost nil 1bhk in most parts of bengaluru. Newer outskirts are getting studio apts. Otherwise you don't get one bed room apts.
No you won't get Rs5000 single bedroom in bangaluru.
Indranagar, jp nagar etc are all old upmarket areas.
I used to pay 8000 for a tiny single bedroom in a far out congested area in bengaluru in 1995 so that way prices have stablised.
Ours is within BBMP corporation limits in core Bangalore and not too far from IT belt... We have let out for 25k for a 3bhk

Its 1900 sft super built up, 1440 sft carpet. I had same doubt thats why I checked on 99acres. In most of states except maharashtra, apartments sold at super built up area which isn’t correct.

housing is not the only thing that matters,and trust me if you find hard enough there are chances to get a good deal and a fairly spacious house in mumbai

i have passed out of iit b and also worked in an excellent tech co,s in san jose later quite some yrs later some friends class mates from iit started a tech co in new mumbai and pune we are extremely happy with the decision mumbai is were i was born and i can never get over the city inspite of being in one of the best cities like san francisco los angeles and new york same with my friends i dont think this guy is from mumbai and he says mba grads are all in bangalore mba grads from which univ i know 3 of our iit friends whose startup is in deep red and one of them has gone back to san jose for me no city like my mumbai i stay in a very pretty area pali hill bandra west happy as everr so also my partner buddies

Mumbai 30% to 40% more expensive to live in. I find that interesting and also hard to believe
HSR is a beautiful area. All commerical activities are nearby. Just to add more about hsr.
I live in HSR and I hate this area too much. Good areas are Jayanagar and J P Nagar

@@ksubbus I have traveled to Bangalore few times and hell yes...the traffic, the attitude of auto, lack of meters gets really frustrating...Mumbai what you pay in rent gets balance out with everything else, domestic helps, cooks are much reasonable, Auto, Taxis have meters, long distance traveling is much cheaper via train, street food have saved lives of those who move to city and are struggling in their initial days, cinema culture is embedded...you have tons decent single or dual screen theaters in the main city which do not charge a fortune for movie tickets and snacks, plenty of options for amazing street or wholesale shopping!
Exactly. Most people just goes by rentals. Bangalore and Hyderabad are fast catching up on rentals. Mumbai is happening, welcoming cosmo city unlike most of metros.
@@herambpatkar the ola, rapido etc. are worst there. Everyday I had to pay once during the ride and then again a bit more after the trip ended. Additionally they demand cash or Gpay only directly to them, and not to the aggregators as they don't like to wait for the co. to pay them after a week cutting their percentages
@@herambpatkar hell yes I’ve traveled and stayed in Mumbai as well..the slums , muck and overall humid weather does get to you…and then you stay light years away from town and still psqft rates are upwards of 20k…street food and small cafes are equally affordable in Bangalore…..rentals in Mumbai the less said the better…so net net either pay through your nose and stay close to workplace or spend your life in commute in Mumbai
85K in HSR would still be too much....and its not even the heart of the city.... the old city will offer the same in 50K with much better civic amenities

yes bangalore has lot of places to go out, but you will never reach those places. because of the worst traffic in the world. there is not aproper metro that connects entire city. the guy says he can breathe in bangalore? whats? i dont believe. there is also equal level of noise, construction, traffic honking. there is no place to walk. no sidewalks. yes sidewalks exists in HSR. but not every where. rents are high. traffic is bad. and weather does not define anything unless its extreme.
