This song was actually anti rape and sexism. Alot of men didn't know that, so Scott would sometimes go on stage in a dress and lipstick and say FCK sexism before this song. He was a good, talented man who had alot of heartbreak. Forever loved, RIP, Scott. ❤🥀🕊
That's something I liked about him. It definitely wasn't always easy going to shows where it's mostly males, especially if you didn't have guy friends to take. I wish a lot more guys said things before shows back then.
I love the energy within this tune. Even though it’s one of the scariest songs l’ve ever heard l love it . Weilands vocal really adds to the creepiness of Sex Type Thing and the song is classic Pilots. Highly energetic too!
I never implied that the song promoted rape, nor advocate this type of violent stupidity. It is an energetic song that requires you to think about the present predicament of females in the world today-where violent men prey on female vulnerabilities. I couldn’t be prouder of Scott Weiland and feel sad that he is no longer with us. RIP Scott
I loved their sound, I used to jam to this on my way to work at the hospital back in 95’ …then going out to campus bars with my friends hearing this blaring…memories ❤
Powerful song with a great message. Really drives home how horrific and creepy abusers are while being catchy as hell and having great riffs. Scott wrote this after finding out three scumbags forced themselves on a girl he was dating, and he made this song to protest against sexual abuse. He himself was a victim of this type of abuse too.
Yeah, totally. I was just commenting: "Many changes around F-sharp minor, but it seems like it's actual gravity is in E-minor--a ghoulish, yellow hue. Classic key for the Death Metal bands. E-minor speaks of serious spiritual issues and grander social concerns, not just tit's-an-ass like ZZ Top or Van Halen. Ironically, Scott Wieland becomes the hot one. Just before he wife-beats you."

Since this song aired on MTV I was a forever fan of STP. Saw them live in 1996 on their second album tour. The gig started with "Press Play" as the intro (descending disco ball) and they played "Crackerman" to start with. The crowd went NUTS when the footage of stock cars racing side by side came up and the bumper camera zooms in on the other car's STP decal. You'll be greatly missed Scott, RIP.
One of my best friends died today. Strangely enough, this song helped me bond with him: We used to have a TV in the back of the restaurant where we worked. One day, the internet went out. He looked really mad. _"I'm gettin' pissed- there's no music."_ I sang the first part of this song after I stood next to him. _"I like that song, keep going!"_ So, I did. This song would play about once a day after that. I only really knew him for a few years, but he was still one of my best friends.

30 years old and still better than anything that comes out today
Hi I Recommend a Song called 'The bond villain' By Robert Nix
46 myself. And I have to agree with what you said.
Im really glad I found 80s and 90s music when I was 21. I really didn't care for music before that, I didn't like the 2000s bands of my childhood and teens. I watch a lot of gigs from 85 to 95 also. Thanks RUclips.
Wish I was born 30 years ago
@escogoes3003 you would be too young to experience this?
I remember when this came out and I saw it on MTV. I was like "who is that guy?" that started my adoration of Scott and STP.
Me 2 ❤
This song came out of nowhere, blew up and took over the radio.
Bought this cassette tape the day it came out. AWESOME 😅
Sadly, this is the song that got Scott tagged as a "Eddie Vedder knock-off" so Scott deliberately avoided this vocal style on subsequent albums. In my opinion, there's some irony in how much better STP music has held up over the decades than Pearl Jam's.
Indeed
Not just this. Plush as well.
It's ridiculous
Hard Core kick ass Tune, Scott
RIP Scott. You hold a piece of my teenage years.
+HiddlesBatchMuser Well, not my teen years as I am much older, but he was an awesome performer. I got to see him twice with STP and each time I could not take my eyes off him. Shame.
+HiddlesBatchMuser So true I feel like a part of my youth died with him...
+HiddlesBatchMuser ..The same here....loved them and love them still. Ahh..the 1990's what a decade in my life, timeless and unforgettable with the music to match. Forever Grunge and STP. RIP Scott....
thats a beautiful way to put it
HiddlesBatchMuser I was so sure this would never end. Thank God for the memories. RIP Scott.
STP music with Scott was the best graduation present I ever had!
The guitar tone on this is so good
No band has over pass the "Appetite for Destruction" and "Core" to this day!!! These two great bands gave us real rock n roll. These two CD's will always be in my glovebox compartment! Amazing!!!!
That guitar tone on this album UGHHHHHH so sick
I love that ending scene with the two dancing like mad. It’s primal, almost like a mating dance.
I'm mostly into house music, however I love it when rock songs like this, have so much energy, it actually becomes a dance song.
Yep
That’s a proof that every music gender can please to anyone
Same and Agreed!?!!

I am 46.. the best band ever.. the memories... the cd.. i first heard getting a ride home from a party from a "guy" 1994... still together listening to this.lol
I remember when this came out in ‘92 I thought it was different- heavy, but not heavy metal, not grunge but some grunge influence, and a damn awesome lead singer and talented musicians in the band. What a great mix
I love this song I always wanted to dance to it in extasy LoL 😆 STP a great band and still love the songs SCOTT was stone temple pilots RIP 🙏❤️
Absolutely amazing album. Core was definitely their best album. RIP Scott

This was the first STP jam I heard. Till this day, it's my favorite song they've ever done!!!
I love this song! I miss him too
I played GT2 on the PS2 back in the day. This was my favorite song in the game! I've been an STP fan since Core came out!
How this only has 8.2 million views astonishes me! One of the greatest songs out the 90’s!
For years, no one talked about Stone Temple Pilots. They were a hit and then they died. I remember in middle school never hearing anyone talk about this band. It was actually more about Foo fighters, Papa Roach, Green Day and Limp Bizkit. I only learned of Stone Temple Pilots' existence actually on 95.1 WZZO a few years ago where the ever cool hard song from fitst two albums were played.
@@germanenglishengineer2054
I never liked the Foo Fighters. Something phony about them.
@@The-Mediator For me, they weren't nearly as good as they were in the 1st 3 albums.
@@germanenglishengineer2054
Yea. True on that too.
@@germanenglishengineer2054 I’ve never heard anyone talk about STP in my life until I found them a few years ago now I got all my mates into them, saw them twice with bush a few weeks ago had to jump the fence since it was an 18+ concert but met Robert deleo and got my shirt signed by the whole band and a signed setlist
One of my favourite Stone Temple Pilot songs.
Papa_Jeans my fave!!! I close my eyes and I love where those memories take me. Great band
OH YEAH PAPA JEANS 8/4/2001
STP SCOTT TAKES HIS CLOTHES OFF AND PUTS AN AMERICAN FLAG ON HIM WHICH BAND MATES TAKE OFF BEST CONCERT I'VE SEEN OMG WOW REMARKABLE PEACE OUT THANKS JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS LORETTA WOW RIP 🙏 SCOTT NICE ASS LOVE ❤️ YOU RIP 🙏 BROTHER LOVE JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS LORETTA BRAVO 👏 🙏
The lead guitar is SOOOOOOOO GOOD THE BEST EVER!!!!
They definitely had their moments... and this is one of them! \m/
Absolute killer track, what a band. RIP Scott.
This is the track and band that got me hooked on Alternative Rock in early 1993. Thank you, STP!
yeah this song really rocks um off, and it looks like Scott Weiland had hit the gym right before this video
JCC1970 That's exactly what I was thinking, concerning Scott Weiland and his physique.
Oh yeah - 106.5 radio station was my station for alternative rock around the Charlotte, NC area!!!! STP, Metallica, Alice In Chains, and so many others in that time period!!
What a great debut!
Vintage grunge. Great band, awesome lead singer. RIP Weiland.
Very glad he did; this song could easily be taken as a glorifying it.
Unfortunately, I bet a lot of men missed the message ...
💚
I really love Scott, but his affection towards, well more feminin dressing came from his bipolar condition I think.
And
Here in 2024!!
❤️
Me❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️😄
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT NICELY DONE ✔️ THANKS LORETTA ✔️ 😊
HELL YES ABSOLUTELY 💯 PERCENT STP FOREVER AND EVER STONE TEMPLE PILOTS RIP 🙏 BROTHER SCOTT WEILAND 💙 NICELY DONE 👏 ✔️ BRAVO THANKS LORETTA 👏 ✔️ BRAVO ✔️
Me 🇧🇷
RIP Scott 🙏❤️😥1 of the best voices of ROCK N ROLL!!! ❤
I love STP. Sex Type Thing and Plush are my favorite sons by them. RIP Scott Weiland. He is an awesome singer and proformer.
I love the energy within this tune. Even though it’s one of the scariest songs l’ve ever heard l love it . Weilands vocal really adds to the creepiness of Sex Type Thing and the song is classic Pilots. Highly energetic too!
It’s actually an anti rape song
I never implied that the song promoted rape, nor
advocate this type of violent stupidity. It is an energetic song that requires you to think about the present predicament of females in the world today-where violent men prey on female vulnerabilities. I couldn’t be prouder of Scott Weiland and feel sad that he is no longer with us. RIP Scott
@@darinbouchard6371 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Sex type thing is my favorite STP song ever and sour is my second favorite
love this song 20 years later
Best of the best, all candy .❤❤❤❤
I saw them 4 times. Scott was always a gentleman, in great voice, sometimes thin, but I’m so glad I got to see him/them.
Aw rad, man!!!
Scott was and is an amazing singer❤
I loved their sound, I used to jam to this on my way to work at the hospital back in 95’ …then going out to campus bars with my friends hearing this blaring…memories ❤
THE GOOD OLD DAYS I REALLY CALL IT OLD SCHOOL DAYS LOVE YOUR COMMENT DEFINITELY INSPIRATIONAL THANKS LORETTA
Me too😢
I forgot about this awesome song. I'm happy I came across it. The good Old 90's are missed just as much as the 80's ❤️
I miss the 90s so much!
One of the best darkest guitar rifs in rock.
Yea its a great riff it sounds a little like thorn within from metallica
💯 PERCENT WITH YOU GREG LANE I DEFINITELY agree with you on that 👍 thanks jersey city heights Loretta BRAVO 👏 THANKS you're remarkable and awesome peace ✌️ out Loretta
@@mylodassen7641 it's Lucifer Sam's riff ,pink floyd

This band blew me away the 1st time I heard them-this song actually. The difference in sound and appearance twds the end is truly drastic & saddening. RIP Scott, may you find all you were looking for on the other side...true happiness. 🌹 🌹 rose
their first album...the best
Totally intense, pretty much sums up this song in two words, from the last great decade of modern music the awesome 1990s.
Underrated. The whole album is a banger from start to finish ♥️♥️♥️
Hi I Recommend a Song called 'The bond villain' By Robert Nix
@@redskies4530no one cares about your F-ING song!!!!

My favorite STP song.
I'm 53 and I still listen to this group and I jam out too them okay
SCOTT WOODHAM HELLO 👋 I AM LORETTA AND I'M 59 💯 PERCENT AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT UNBELIEVABLE AND AMAZING 👏 BRAVO 👏 THANKS JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS LORETTA
One of my best friends died today. Strangely enough, this song helped me bond with him:
We used to have a TV in the back of the restaurant where we worked. One day, the internet went out. He looked really mad.
_"I'm gettin' pissed- there's no music."_
I sang the first part of this song after I stood next to him.
_"I like that song, keep going!"_
So, I did. This song would play about once a day after that.
I only really knew him for a few years, but he was still one of my best friends.
Sorry for your loss. Your post made things real for me..
One of my favorite STP jams. So dirty and raw. IM GONNA LEARN U MY PHILOSOPHY
😆Gran Turismo and this song absolutely go together. Driving fast as you can in your Hot Rod car with a bunch of aftermarket parts and jamming this. Good times. 😃
Dragula goes well with driving fast
that's how i first this song
Which GT title was that?
@@henm4975 it was Gran Turismo 2. When I got the 1998 Mustang SVT Cobra pearl white, naturally aspirated, fast as heck.
Hard to believe this song is 22 years old! Now it's called a classic.

Damm, this is good music folks!
Such a rocking song for such dark subject matter. That's the essence of grunge I suppose.
Dear 2019,
Can we please have 1990's iconic music back?
Sincerely every 1990's music lover.
Does NOT get any better then these iconic classics...still rocks hard on radio today
Scott once wore my hat. True Story. Seen STP twice in concert, both times were KICK ASS SHOWS. Unreplaceable Legend... RIP
better still have that hat!!
Jake - Of course I still have the hat! I am trying to track down video footage from the concert of him wearing it...
Lemme know if you find it
I myself saw them, one of the best concerts at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, great show and they had massive floor to ceiling lava lamps and even though I was trippin during the show, it was like you were listening to them in the studio they were outstanding and Scott was yummy hot then before drugs took his looks and soul
This remains the standard.
I loved stp and i always thought this was their best song. So underated.
going from sour girl to this tune is wild! scott really did have a versatile voice.
